The samsung looked great and Qd-Oled is next level stuff. But I kept coming back to 83 inch sony master oled . you see I have the 65 inch a90j and just love that tv. I was a little worry that the 83 might be too big for my modest living room. but to my surprise, it was not. I know this is not the best tv anymore, but let me tell you it is still one best tv money can buy. from the built quality to the picture quality, this thing is amazing. from cable to bluray to 4k. everything looks outstanding.I will be getting a qd-oled in the future. but I HAVE NO BUYER REMORSE. GREAT JOB SONY

Ultra deep blacks is the first thing I noticed. “12k” content off YouTube is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. Colors are extremely vivid depending on your settings. Pre-sets are generally of the more subtle quality but there is a vivid mode and you can customize it to “pop” like other brands (such as Samsung) if that’s your thing. The sound is better than any similar grade TV. They are invisibly built into the screen itself so they are front-firing instead of back-firing like most TVs. It even accepts speaker wire if you wish to use the TV as a center channel! About the only thing I can maybe pick at is the audio out is not automatic to your sound system. You have to explicitly set it to use your audio system v. its own speaker set and switch it back and forth if you wish to toggle sound output.

Exceptional upgrade from my prior SONY OLED 77A9G

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well here goes, My SONY 83A90J was delivered this past Tuesday Nov 8th and I moved my 2 year old (still great) SONY 77A9G to my bedroom. I debated and debated for many weeks before I decided to make this move and here are my thoughts about the upgrade: --Major brightness improvement on the SONY 83A90J especially the highlights. But overall a brightness boost thats quite noticable. Even any white lettering on screen is brighter. Even the blacks seem to be inkier and deeper on the SONY 83A90J therefore the contrast seems to be more intense, therefore the brightness is perceived to be even brighter than any actual "NIT" measurements, colors seem to be richer also on the SONY 83A90J than my prior model the SONY 77A9G. --SIze increase from the 77 to the 83 is larger but not especially so to my eyes --I dont have (luckily) any panel problems on the new SONY 83A90J. No tinting, no grid effects, no noticable DSE, no noticable OLED vertical banding to speak of, no center "large" bar or slighlty right of center. Not looking for any screen problems...not running any slides...not looking very hard either...just enjoying the picture --Love BRAVIA CORE and the 10 free movies. Watched "Bullet Train" with Brad Pitt and "Spider Man - Far From home" and the picture and clarity , brightness blew me away. Fun that you can choose in the Picture settings IMAX ENHANCED and/or BRAVIA CORE CALIBRATION SETTINGS (which are similar to NETLIX CALIBRATION SETTING) --My Cable Box 1081i is good-to-great depending on the channel. The new SONY COGNITIVE PROCESSOR does a helluva job cleaning things up but still "garbage in-garbage out" still applies In conclusion, I am happy with my upgrade from my prior 2 year old (still great) SONY77A9G to my current SONY 83A90J. I do see the improvement and I didnt think I would. Question: Was it worth the price of the 83A90J? Thats the question I have asked myself since the delivery. I have to say "yes". And I still have until January 14th to decide since the Holiday Return Best Buy policy made the purchase even more" you cant go wrong"... But VERY likley its a keeper and will likley sell my previous SONY 77A9G. My new SONY 83 A90J Build Date if your interested: SEPT 2022

The LG and wonderful picture quality, but they would lose Wi-Fi connectivity after a few hours of usage. The Sony’s picture quality is equivalent in actual usage. I’ve done no testing, but really see no difference in my family room. My only complaint is that Sony teamed up with Google and Google is constantly pushing their plans, instead of what I want to use. For example, I prefer the fubo app, but on their menu it is way down the list and I’m not allowed to move it to the top of the list. There’s the usual over intrusion of anything google. I’m surprised and disappointed that Sony teamed up with them. Oh, to even activate google TV, I had to input my Wi-Fi password to a system that was already connected to the Wi-Fi. You wonder, “what is google going to do with my Wi-Fi password?“ It’s hard to trust them. There was no reason for them to collect my Wi-Fi password. Using voice command I’m largely able to work around and avoid Google interference. The remote is excellent, but not particularly intuitive. It was difficult to show my non-technical wife how to navigate, but we got there. LG was more intuitive with their remote. The sound is great in my large room. I did add a Sonos sound bar, With no subwoofer. that is more effective with sound effects, but it is unnecessary for most TV watching. I think that’s common with TVs in this size and price range. I have had several Sony flatscreen TVs in the past. I doubt that I’ll ever try another brand in the future. I had heard good things about LG and have some of their other appliances. I think that in the race to have the brightest OLED picture that they stressed the electronics a little too much. Anyway, Sonny stayed with them the limits needed for a reliable performance. My Sonny as man on for most of the past month, with no connectivity or performance issues. My Sony has been on for most of the past month with no connectivity or performance issues. It fires up quickly and moves between apps and channels quickly. I’m very happy and would recommend this TV to anyone shopping for and 0LED in this size range. Oh, I would have been just as happy with a 77 inch versus this 83 inch, but Sony did not offer that option.

To me Sony is the best when it comes to picture quality and processing. Before I purchased this tv I had the Sony A80J. For the people who wants to know if there is a difference in the two, yes there is. How big? Let's just say Its not a 100 yard difference. I would say a 50 yard difference. Now wether that's worth the extra dineros that is a personal choice. For me I am happy and for each individual that's all that matters!

Upgraded from 75 " LCD to 83" OLED - ASTOUNDING

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My Sony XBR75X910C 3D/4K Ulta HD LCD from 2015 was damaged during my last move before retirement in the Air Force. Sony told the moving company a suitable tv for me would be the OLED XR83A90J. I was reimbursed the full replacement value for my Sony. Before the check even arrived, the XR83A90J went down from $6K to $5.5K. I jumped on the price and the tv was delivered 3 days later. I have my two TV's sitting side by side. My old LCD tv is bright with HDR content, but my OLED is accurate and bright. You can increase the brightness using Vivid picture mode. I prefer Standard or Dolby Vision Bright picture modes myself. If you watch the first Wonder Woman movie you'll notice in the tower fight scene that some of the background is blue/grayish on an LCD. On my OLED that color should actually be black. I've been watching the NBA Playoffs and the screen brightness on my OLED resembles the "Sports" picture mode on my old LCD. You don't have to set a picture mode for sports, the tv knows what content you are viewing. Burn in issues? None, because I'm not a gamer. The tv comes with Pixel Shift enabled and this model has a heat sink. Both Sony features prevent screen burn in. For those of you using cable or streaming, your picture quality may vary. I have DirecTV and they don't compress the picture like cable/streaming services. DirecTV has the best picture quality. Also, the tv comes with Google TV. I have lots of movies I've purchased through the old Google Movies & TV app that will be replaced by Google TV. The movies I streamed through my Google TV purchases all look AMAZING. HBO Max content looks astounding as well. The tv knows when a movie is 4K/HDR. I don't have any complaints about this tv. It's sitting on a beautiful 66" wide glass stand from Whalen. Leave your LCD complaints at the door before purchasing this tv. Oh, you'll need a soundbar or soundbase for this tv. I use a soundbase myself.

I had bought the A80J right before this TV was released and had it for a couple weeks. When the A90J 83'' was released I was very tempted. After watching many Youtube reviews and reading expert reviews it seemed the consensus was the panel and processor are clearly best in class but the extra price tag might not be worth it for everyone and the A80J should be fine for most people... Well I kept thinking why not for a little bigger and brighter. If you are OK with the cost, this OLED is absolutely amazing and you will not be disappointed with it. I absolutely love everything about the TV (video quality, brightness, perfect black) - movies in Dolby Vision are incredible. I am also super happy with the design of the TV and size. Looks incredible mounted. I would definitely recommend this model if you want the best! :)

It's got everything and more than a person would ever want or need from a TV. The picture is amazing to say the very least and the sound that the TV it's self cam produce just as a center channel is amazing. It's has the ability to control your whole sound!! Just wow!! Sub level and sound sound levels and sound modes are a very useful opinion and yeah its remote also eliminates the need for any other remotes!!

The 55" is my first upgrade to a TV in 11 years and the 83" will replace the 7-year-old projector in my media room throwing a 105" picture. I've heard about "deep blacks" but now I understand because when the scene goes very dark in my media room the TV seems to disappear into the wall. All I can say is the picture is fantastic (better than what I saw in the store) and it is very easy to operate.

Did I mention the stunning picture quality? The “screen-as-speaker” works great, provides good sound quality, probably suitable for any apartment dweller as is with no subwoofer needed. Would be nice to be able to connect a sub to the TV but it requires at least a sound bar to do so. Bravia Core has free movies included with TV, a nice little bonus even if not most recent releases. Picture quality? Amazing.

This was the right pick. My concern was the onboard speakers and they are much better than the ones on the Sony 65 I am replacing. My intention was to buy the tv and if I wasn't happy with the sound , to buy a sound bar. There is no need, sound is excellent. Picture is stunning. Definitely made the right decision.

The reviews outside of this one are true and helped me make my decision between this TV and the LG G2 which i am also a huge fan of (currently have both the C1 and C2). This happened to be my first Sony television purchase as well so if you’re thinking of converting, you will not go wrong.

The picture quality is fantastic. As everyone knows the sound quality on these TVs is nothing to write home about. I will be adding a soundbar to it soon. All that said, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

All the colors are crazy good - I definitely thought it was steep on the price but after using it for a year…this was the best electronic in my house. Gets a lot of compliments on the picture quality !
