The new cell phone is nice, but I wanted more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My RX100II stopped being reliable and since I upgraded my Samsung, I was getting nice pictures out of the "always nearby" camera, but I missed the features of a real camera. I was skeptical about the focusing, but so far it's been solid and will be with me on my upcoming trip to the National Park visits this summer.

very soft lens-disappointing camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several Sony camera products including the a6000, a6400, with kit and different G and Zeiss lenses, hx90v, hx80. All of these had their purpose and place with very sharp results. Maybe I purchased a bad copy with a soft/unsharp lens? I was extremely disappointed with the overall sharpness and picture quality. The macro shots in particular were downright terrible for a camera at this price. My iphone doesn't zoom quite as far as the rx100-7 but takes better photos and is also a phone. With a 1" sensor and a small overall size I wasn't expecting full frame or dslr level but I have never been so disappointed with a camera.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend Poor quality and reliability. Do NOT buy.

Sony uses cheap ribbon cables inside their camera that break even with modest normal use since they are bent at sharp angles.
