The Sony CRE-E10 hearing aids, work really well!
User adjustable controls with your smartphone, rechargeable, 4 different sized ear sleeves for a perfect fit, Bluetooth connection with IPhones for music, phone calls and apps.
With many people wearing earbuds these days, they don’t scream hearing aids even though they are visible from the side.
Very good phone support from Sony (during normal business hours) I did need to call once for some help fine tuning in crowded areas.
It took me a few weeks to get them perfectly dialed in finding the right size ear sleeves, learning the control settings/combinations that work the best for me and getting use to having earbud in. Now in less than a month of use I forget I even have them in.
My wife loves them too, the TV volume is at 6 now, compared to 10-11 before, same with the car radio. I’m not asking “What” or guessing what people are saying to me. They work and I recommend them with confidence.

Now that I have owned and worn the Sony E10 hearing aids for awhile, I feel I can comment. 5 stars to ALL Best Buy personal for knowing their products and sell the best the market has available! I had a hearing test from a professional licensed audiologist and discovered that I am moderately hard of hearing, so I tried several devices which just amplified sound which didn’t, I researched and discovered the brand and style and App features I considered the best of all offered on and off line. I was in Best Buy using my Total benefits with the Geeks and asked if they sold hearing aids. Surprised by a “yes!” And I was immediately shown the very ones I wanted. The price out of pocket for these FDA approved real hearing aid was lower than I would have to pay if I went through my insurance too. I have proudly shown them, demonstrated them and highly recommended Best Buy, the Total program and these products to anyone this need. Actually, I now check with Best Buy first!

I've tried the Bose and MDHearing hearing aids/amplifier and those two had lots of feedback since its over the ear style does that often and the sound qualityis amazing with its auto range of sound. I would recommend Sony's pair due to almost no feedback, style, and app controller. The only con I have is the android functionality with calls needs to come soon since its been awhile since the iPhone users can enjoy this already. I have used these buds through light rain and workouts and they don't disappoint. I hope to see more from these line of hearing devices.

Sony's CRE-E10 I have to say it has impressed me. They are nicely built in a minimal design and very discrete. Whoever sees you wearing them will not think they are hearing aids, as they look just like regular earbuds. That's what I like the most. The actual devices are tiny, like they are almost concealed within your ears. Setting them up should be easy if you get them to pair right away. I had little issues paring them to my Pixel 7 pro. You have to download the Sony hearing control app, then follow the directions. Once you get them to pair the app will run a setup and tuning of the hearing aids. What I really like is the actual tuning, it is dedicated to the actual user consisting of several tones frequencies at different volume levels. It is similar to the hearing exam done at the doctors office. Something that I really disliked was that you have to consent to give Sony access to your hearing data for you to be able to use the app. Not only that, it can be shared as your medical record. If you don't consent to it pretty much you won't be able to use the devices with the app.
Once you overcome that hurtle and are done with the initial setup and tuning you will be able to access the device settings. The hearing aids are very light and they fit nice and snug in the ear. They also feel comfortable just like regular earbuds. It comes with the small sleeve already installed. If those sleeves do not fit you well, it comes with three extra ones in the box XS/M and Large. I used the one that came with it as it fit well for me. To turn on the devices all you have to do is pull them out of the charging case and to turn off, just place them back. They sound really good and one of the best part is how some of the natural sounds blend in to make these hearing aids sound more natural. It does feel kind of clogged because you have to plug them in the ear of course and it has some type of noise canceling. Like other hearing aids I tried you can definitely hear your own voice when talking and that is something that I don't like. Besides that they are just great. I can actually hear those high frequencies that I can’t hear without jeopardizing the other sounds. I was able to watch TV with the volume at level 3.
With the app you can adjust the volume, treble/bass and the directions you want to hear. During the setup you can adjust the loudness individually. The directional hearing is actually pretty amazing. If you focus on the front that's exactly where it will focus and you will notice the difference. I do prefer the auto function because the hearing feels more natural and balanced. Each hearing aid lasts about 26 hrs of continuous use according to the manufacturer and 21 if you use it with music streaming. Yes, these hearing aids support music streaming and phone calls via bluetooth. The downside is that it is only supported by the iPhone. Hopefully that gets fixed with a software update to support other operating systems than iOS.
Now a little bit about that charging case. It is very small, which is great. You won’t feel a huge bulge in your pocket. It is Not only small, it also has an internal battery to charge your hearing aids on the go. It charges via USB-C and the cable is included. It supports wireless charging. If you own a phone that supports reverse wireless charging you will not have any problem charging your hearing aids. Manufacturer suggests the case holds two full charges. I don't know exactly how much that is in hours but I assume it is a lot.
Overall these are by far one of the best hearing aids I have tried. Is the closest you can get to prescription hearing aids over the counter in my opinion. They not only sound great but also come with plenty of features that will definitely warrant the high price. In the box you get the hearing aids, charging case, USB-C cable, extra sleeves, cleaning kit and user manuals.

SONY ITE Self-Fitting OTC Hearing Aid: Sony’s contribution to the newly emergent field of over-the-counter hearing aids is to set the fulfillment bar quite high. The Sony ITE is loaded with features and controls. It intelligently guides the user into effective settings customized for them. It takes the end user by the hand through well-thought out support software and offers subtle adjustments to further shape the final result. This is truly a “no excuses” system designed to provide the hearing assistance that works specifically for me while carving away even minor irritations. Do I need all this support and customization? Yes. I do.
SETUP: SONY approaches customer setup and support in two ways. Initially, the instructions are traditional, step by step, offering a hearing test, and subsequent guidance to get owners quickly using the hearing aids. The secondary approach follows with a question and answer decision tree that fine tunes the settings by directly solving issues or irritations the end user has.
There is so much here, yet Sony makes it very easy to manage. Sony’s ITE Hearing aid connection to your phone uses Apple’s ACCESSIBILITY features rather than the bluetooth connection. This provides a rapid linkage and some initial adjustments on the phone side of the equation. The setup routine requires that you use both Left and Right earbuds. It does seem like you can use only one ear bud after completing the setup if that’s all you need. Sony’s CRE-E10 Quick Setup instructions are so comprehensive, I’ll leave it to you to check them out on their web site.
Within Sony’s Hearing Control App the instructions are taken over by the step-by-step guide. The end user is led through a thorough hearing test, followed by a series of selections and listening activities which directly influence settings. Rather than letting the user simply experiment with settings randomly, the process is directed towards correcting hearing deficiencies while engaging in a conversation, or to reduce the sound of your own voice in the earbuds, or enhancing the quality of sound by reducing or emphasizing the highest or lowest frequency range. The process moves along quickly. Even after you conclude the fine tuning, there are several ways to correct complaints you might have. There is a different guided “tree” of questions and responses that results in setting modifications. So, if voices sound too nasal, the SONY makes setting changes to attempt to correct that issue. It’s all pretty easy to follow and the results are a truly customized hearing experience that feels very natural.
FEATURES and EFFECTS: These are small ear buds that sit far enough into your ear to almost hide from view. A color option would be nice, but black is what you get. The four pairs of ear tips should allow most users to find a satisfactory fit. The fit is not fussy and squeals are only apparent when you are handling the buds, and are cut off very quickly.
The battery is rechargeable lithium and promises up to 26 hours of use. The case could probably be smaller, but it’s contoured into a shape that will slip in a pocket. The charge cord is longer than most, but you will need a charging block you must provide.
You can also stream music or answer a phone call because this is a Bluetooth device. There is noise reduction circuitry to improve the sound and quiet the environment. The Sonys have an IP68 rating for some dust and water resistance.
Phone calls: I found the hearing aids were easy to hear with. But I was unable to increase the volume to a level I preferred. My wife, on the other end of the call thought the conversation was a bit noisy.
Streaming music quality: Meh. You’re gonna want to swap these Sony ITE hearing aids out and replace them with your standard earbuds. Yes, they will stream music as if they are traditional audio earbuds, but you’re unlikely to be impressed. The volume was too low and nothing I did got the level high enough for my needs. They play. But at a reduced, more background level. Actually, you may be OK with the reduced level and this is only my problem.
For both phone calls and streaming, I have a feeling that the level of assistance (amplification) you ultimately set using the hiring app determines the level of sound in these features. Modifying these levels would probably require Sony to offer an over-ride of the hearing aid settings. And to be fair, this is not the priority for these devices.
Crowded noisy rooms settings: These Sonys are problem solvers. With the settings available in the iPhone Accessibility>Hearing Devices as well as the complete suite of settings within the Hearing Connect App, there are numerous modifications you can make. There are volume settings (each ear independently), tonal range shifting, noise reduction, frequency filtering and others. But, you’re not asked to play with all these individual settings. Instead, after the initial setup, you’re asked to identify problems and accept or reject changes that are offered to correct your issues. These corrections tend to be subtle but mostly effective.
Chat Support: I sought help with my low volume during calls and streaming. My first attempt at online chatting applauded the fact I was first in the queue but it took 32 minutes before help signed in. Unfortunately, support merely confirmed my observations. Volume levels for both phones and streaming media were only adjustable within the reduced limits created by the ITE hearing aids.
SUMMARY: For the primary purpose of offering hearing assistance, the Sony ITE CRE-E10 hearing aids are a tremendous achievement. They succeed at amplifying surroundings while filtering out noises. They manage sound quality in several ways. The fine tuning within the app is well thought out. I like the "problem solving" approach instead of simply offering a package of filters and sliders which only invite confusion and frustration. Nicely done.
I do think a feature that over-rides the volume limits in the hearing aid App would be appreciated by many users. But, I do understand the focus for Sony in these devices is hearing assistance and I was very impressed with the outcomes. These Sony ITE hearing aids are definitely worth exploring before you consider far more expensive devices. Recommended.

Hi TECHBEENGOOD, thank you for the fabulous review! I'm so glad you're enjoying your CRE-E10s. Some tips for streaming: to adjust the call or media volume, increase the volume on the side of your iOS device rather than in the app. Also, call streaming is not hands free, so it's best to hold the phone and talk into it. That should help reduce noise for the person on the other end. If you have any additional questions or problems, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Sony OTC hearing aid support team using chat, call or SMS! Regards, Erin

The Sony CRE-E10 is my first experience with an ITE (in-the-ear) self-fitting OTC hearing aid product. These come with a charging case, USB-C cable, cleaning accessories, and are pre-fitted with a size small ear tip; also included are 3 alternate ear tip sizes: x-small, medium, and large. While they may look like an ordinary pair of wireless earbuds, they are FDA-registered medical-grade hearing aids for folks with mild to moderate hearing loss and can be used without a prescription from a doctor. As such, they are not to be used by individuals under the age of 18, those with severe hearing loss, or if your hearing loss only impacts one ear (since it does not support CROS or BiCROS to combine the sound from both earpieces to output only to your hearing ear). If you are already seeing a hearing care professional and have an audiogram, note that the app will not be able to process and use that data during calibration.
Each earbud has a long stem sheathed in a soft silicone tip that will sit inside your ear canal, so be aware that you’ll need to insert them into your ear about ½ inch. On the inner side of the ear bud’s body are two gold charging contacts and ‘L’ and ‘R’ labels for left and right. I found the fit of the slender ear tips much more comfortable than regular earbuds, and these sat in my ears snugly and securely without discomfort, even after long periods of time. Two directional mics are located on the outer side of each ear bud, and the volume of each earpiece can be adjusted individually during setup in order to achieve the correct balance. They are IP68 rated, which means these are not waterproof, however, do have some dust and water resistance.
In order to calibrate the hearing aids to your ears, you’ll need to download and install the Sony Hearing app on a smartphone or tablet to pair them with your device over Bluetooth. Setup takes about 10 minutes, and you have to consent to Sony’s collection of your personal hearing data in order to complete the process. The app provides easy-to-follow illustrated on-screen instructions for calibration which consists of listening for and counting beeps at various pitches and volumes and having a conversation with another person.
After initial calibration, there is some fine tuning that you can perform in order to customize the hearing aids for specific situations like speech and your own voice. I liked the ability to adjust the sound EQ balance between treble and bass. This made it easier to focus on voices in higher or lower registers on-the-fly, as needed. You can also set directional hearing amplification as well to focus on sounds coming from in front, behind, or to either side rather than omnidirectional.
When using them they worked well, allowing me to hear things that normally would sound soft and far away as clearly as if they were much closer. The sound quality is good and tonally accurate though the hearing aids don’t appear amplify all sounds across the board. Instead, they focus on the mid to high range frequencies that most speech falls into and dampens other sounds. This made hearing and picking out voices easier in a noisy environment. They also did a pretty good job making the sound from my TV audible and clear when it is set to lower volume, though sometimes I could detect a little bit of digital distortion and compression artifacts.
In very quiet settings, I did notice a slight amount of white noise hiss as the mics are constantly on. Another thing is that these hearing aids tend to amplify your own internal sounds as well, so that when you’re speaking, breathing, eating, and swallowing, these can sound louder than normal. They tend to pick up a lot of small noises as well, like crinkling plastic, rustling fabric, dripping water, and keyboard strokes, making those sound closer than they were. If you enjoy ASMR, this might actually be somewhat of a perk.
The battery case took several hours to charge, and I like that when you drop the earbuds into them, they start charging automatically and are held in by magnets. The case can also charge wirelessly by placing it on a Qi charger in addition to using the included USB-C cable and have colored LED indicators to let you know when the batteries are full. The batteries in the ear pieces will last a full day on a single charge, and the case delivers a quick charge providing 2.5 hours of use in just 15 minutes.
One thing to know is that while they are capable of streaming music and phone calls from your paired device (to be used as wireless headphones) it is only compatible with iOS devices, and since I use an Android phone, I was not able to use this feature. They are also only available in black so aren’t particularly discreet, but also don’t offer any conspicuous distinction that they’re hearing aids and not simply wireless headphones.
Overall, the sound quality of the CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids was better than I expected with targeted amplification and cancellation in order to increase audibility without introducing a lot of other distracting noise. The customizable settings and fine tuning help to personalize your hearing profile to ensure you get sculpted sound that is natural sounding, clear, and balanced. They have very good battery life, are wirelessly rechargeable and are comfortable for extended wear.

TLDR; Hearing aids that have the look and feel of earbuds. They are noticeable, but sit flush in the outer ear. Different sized sleeves are included for that custom fit into your ear. Setup through the Sony Hearing app can be very challenging due to connectivity issues (but I learned how to mitigate those challenges, read more below). The results from personalized profile creation are not quite custom, but very good overall; Sony E10 model comes pre configured with 6 sound profiles and tries to best match your hearing loss to one or a combination of these profiles. All controls of the E10 are done through the Hearing app (gain, treble vs bass, directional hearing). Battery life is intended for a full day, and daily charging is a must. IP68~!
I have moderate hearing loss, and I come from the land of audiologist-prescribed, Bentley-priced hearing aids. Cream of the crop stuff. So when the FDA approved over-the-counter hearing aids, I was very much interested in various brands/models and their performance with respect to what I currently use. When Sony released their E10 hearing aids, I was most definitely interested as I hold Sony highly as an electronics company and their heritage in audio products is undeniable.
The E10 hearing aids are the first hearing aids that I've seen that don't look the part. They actually look like music earbuds that you see people wear everyday. And although they are clearly visible from line of sight, you would certainly blend in just fine. I actually really like the look of them on me, and it's a modern approach to hearing aid design.
All setup is done through your smartphone. The E10s can be set up on both iOS and Android, and I've verified both cases as I do have phones of each operating system. iOS holds a large advantage due to its ability to take phone calls and stream music to the hearing aids; Android does not support these features. In either case, the app will guide you through ear fitting, Bluetooth pairing and custom hearing profile process. It is best to find a quiet room when you do this. The app will send various beeps to each ear (3 beeps at a time) and you will be asked how many beeps were audible to you. If you've been to an audiologist, it's a familiar process, but without the sound booth and all the examination tools. After the profile process is completed, the hearing aids will adjust to your hearing needs. From here, you'll be able to fine tune the output by a fine tuning guide that tries to identify your concern, then apply a modified profile to your hearing aids. It's not quite fine tuning in my opinion, but a much simpler approach that may make these hearing aids much less intimidating to set up. Once you're all squared away with sound quality output, then you'll still be able to adjust the volume gain and treble/bass levels of the hearing aid. Directional hearing is automatic, but you'll be able to adjust that as well if you need to.
So let's talk about performance. Because the hearing aids are profile-based, I believe that they will try to match your hearing loss to one of those six predetermined profiles it has programmed. I've attached a photo showing those profiles. The significance here is even though your hearing quality of life will vastly improve with these hearing aids, they won't give you the profile that is truly custom for your hearing loss, and I believe that can only be achieved at the audiologists' office. That being said, I've had the opportunity to test these in different scenarios and they do not disappoint at all. Other notable features that I find in my own hearing aids are sound attenuation during sudden loud sounds like a balloon popping or similar. They attenuate during windy situations as well. These are the types of features you can only find in high end hearing aids.
An iOS exclusive is the ability to stream music and take phone calls through the E10 hearing aids. Yes, it does work fine in both cases, but streaming music quality leaves a lot to be desired. The type of sound quality you'll receive is of the earbuds variety that would be found at the impulse aisle at the local discount clothing store. These are hearing aids first and foremost and are tuned for that purpose. And to be fair, all hearing aids with streaming capability all sound the same. Bad. I would not base your purchasing decision solely on this feature.
The last thing I wanted to talk about is hearing aid setup. I did struggle quite a bit during this process. Lots of times, I would not receive a confirmation beep that acknowledged successful pairing, or it would only be one of the two hearing aids. Other times, I would get both hearing aids connected, but during profile setup, I would not hear a single beep. And I struggled with both iOS and Android. After numerous attempts, I found that a quick power cycle (putting the hearing aids in the case, then pulling them back out) gets them rebooted and I am able to progress through the setup with no problem. So have them rebooted seconds before you start the setup process. Worked every time.
Over-the-counter hearing aids are game changing, and these Sony E10 hearing aids are worthy to be in your ears to provide you a much better quality of life.

I had the best professional ones for $6600 which were sent back to the company 4 times in 8 months for issues. More than half of that time was trying to use them with issues or waiting months to get them back. After waiting a month and a half this last time I received a check in the mail refunding my money with no other communication.
Looking for OTC ones I noticed the top rated brand is made by the same company as my top rated pro ones on Sponsored reviews. I figured that company must be paying to have their products rated better than they really are. I also noticed that The Sony E10s are often missing from OTC reviews and comparisons even though they have better specs than the “best” ones reviewed. If the Sony is compared, it’s the lower C model. Which tells me that the people paying didn’t want to be compared to the Sony E10s. The are comparing other models with fewer running hours, or not rechargeable, or not water resistant, or no bluetooth streaming.
The Sony E10s are significantly smaller and lighter than what I had, but sound just as good, with the added benefit of being able to go through the app test to customize them in ways that only a doctor can on professional ones. I went through the test twice and by the second time it sounded better than the first time and better than the pros. Why? Because I have tinnitus and some sounds technically could be heard while listening for them in a test, but in real life I won’t notice them at the same tone as the ringing in my ears, so I had to answer if I could hear beeps or not slightly differently to tweak my experience myself, something I couldn't change on preprogrammed pro ones.
I also like that the charging case has a battery and charges the earbuds, the pros had a much bigger bulkier case that did not even have a battery which makes a big difference on camping trips.
The Sony also sits further into my ears and have less loud static noise when I’m outside in the wind. The pros said they had an outdoor mode with wind cancellation but it was still louder than these.
At $1300 these are 1/5 the price but I like them better in a multiple different ways.

The Sony CRE E10 OTC hearing aids improve my hearing as much or more than the older over the ear ones I paid $5000 for. I was concerned about being able to wear in the ear type, but these fit my ear canal and had no problem with them staying in. My hearing would be described as more toward the severe end than moderate. I don’t hear high frequency tones therefore I have trouble with women and children voices. I do fairly well if one on one, but with background noise forget it. Movies in Theaters or on TV, I miss about 30% of the conversation. With these hearing aids, I miss 15-20%. Over the ear headphones is a slight improvement, since they reduce other noise present. They work well with phone conversations when paired with my iPhone. The Sony App administers a hearing test and customizes them by emitting various tones and allowing you to input how many heard left or right ear. Similar to a hearing test by hearing specialist. Music streamed does not have near the quality of Apple AirPods Pro, but they are engineered for hearing improvement not music. I would like to access Siri without getting phone from case as with the Apple AirPods Pro. This feature not available and phone calls have to be answered on iPhone and outgoing calls will also have to be initiated from iPhone. I can carry on a conversation with my wife while driving automobile much easier with these hearing aids now. Also the batteries have very long life and the case will charge them over 2 times if you don’t have access to recharge via outlet. The title “Hearing Aids” is as implied. They aid you in hearing, but not fix the problem of hearing difficulties. Unlike vision, which can be restored 100% with glasses. I would recommend the Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids for people with moderate hearing loss, but severe cases may or may not be satisfied. It depends on tone frequency loss.

Years of military life out on the flight line and in command centers with droning decades-old hardware did a job on my hearing. Now pushing almost 50, I was really feeling like I was missing out on conversations and other things. When the FDA announced that they would allow 'Over-the-Counter' hearing aides, I was stoked. While I don't feel like I have catastrophic hearing loss, I definitely could use some help. When Sony announced the CRE-E10s, I couldn't think of a better company to try because I assumed it would work kind of like a reverse noise-cancelling and Sony has held the crown of noise-cancelling tech for years now. Boy was I let down. Sony touts a few things about these OTC hearing aides and let me break them down:
1. Comfort: I have weird ears (what are known as tortuous ear canals), and I gave the life support guys the fits when I was being fitted for earplugs, but I thought these soft, contoured earpieces might just be the thing to work. I've had custom in-ear monitors made before, so I don't have a problem with how deep they go in the ear but something about the curvature of the earpiece just rubs my ears wrong (literally). While the main part of the earpiece sits nicely in the bowl of my ear, I can not do more than two hours before I need to pull these out and give my ears a break. I tried to do an all day (8 hour) listen and push through the pain but the longest I got was 6 hours. This was even using the extra small ear pieces. I have no idea who the heck will be using the large size.
2. Battery Life: This is one thing I can't fault these things on. After using these for the six hour test, the battery was still at 90% for both earpieces. They have some very good power management to have the battery longevity that they do. You'll get more than a day out of these, and probably get more like 2-3 days.
3. Ease of Use & Set-Up: The connection and set up of the CRE-E10s was super easy with the Sony Hearing Control app, but I was a bit dismayed at the 'fine-tuning' test that it does. It seems to be a bit basic. You count the tones in like 3 or 4 rounds of beeps for each ear and supposedly that does it? I don't see how that provides enough info to fine-tune the rather wide spectrum of human hearing. I'll go more into how this fine-tuning failed me in a the next section, but this is probably where Sony needs to focus to improve this or future generations of these things.
4. Sound Quality: This is the biggest let down. Despite running the set-up tuning multiple times, I could not get these to actually boost the sounds I want to hear and instead they boost everything that I DON'T want to hear. While out walking on my local trail, I could pinpoint the exact location of the nearby highway no matter where I was, NOT something I particularly want to hear on my nature walk. Also, some bird songs were muted and others came off as a screeching directly in my ear. On top of that, it actually made it harder for me to hear my wife talking right next to me. It DID help me hear the biker overtaking us from behind who did not give us a warning that he was passing, but that is a minor victory for these things. When I tested these out in our local mall to see if I could pick out the voices I wanted to hear over the scrum of the crowd, I found that these did even worse there. I could pick up bits of conversations and Christmas music from stores down the corridor but again, could not get a clear read on the conversation right around me. Absolute deal-breaker.
5. Audio-Streaming: Again, absolutely horrible. I called my parents on my iPhone and at first I thought that perhaps my phone was not streaming the audio to the E10s, oh but it was and despite turning the volume to max on my phone and in the app, they still sounded to me like we were using tin cans and string. My parents also said it sounded like I was in a box with an echo. Music is just as bad. There was not enough volume ever and I couldn't find a single genre of music that actually sounded even OK.
Finally, a last thing about these Hearing Aides. You are going to have to buy replacement earpieces about every month. They will soon be selling them in four packs (Best Buy doesn't have them yet but Sony does), and they say you should change the tips every week. I was sure that was wrong, but nope, these things are so fragile, that you will inevitably get a rip in them very quickly. Just switching from the small ear tips to the extra smalls caused me to rip one of the small earpieces. This is despite watching their video on how to properly do it. While the fragility is obviously designed so that they can maximize comfort and long term wear, since it didn't even do that for me I don't think the fragility is a selling point.
Right now, these are a DO NOT BUY. Perhaps version 2.0 or a serious software update might make them usable for some, but I doubt they will ever really be worth it for me. Sorry Sony, I had high hopes, but you let me down for the first time ever with some of your gear. Thanks for trying to help those of us who need help hearing.

I have used Eargos for the past 3 years. The Sony E10 is a step up. Much more comfortable and the sound quality is much better than the Eargo devices. Additionally, the “earbuds” streaming is a big plus. The app allows ease of control and is superior to the Eargo App

Excellent hearing aid. I’ve been putting off getting a set then changed my mind once the OTC ones became available. These are a little large for in the ear aids but do a great job picking up voices in poor acoustic rooms. There is a set up routine that tailors them to each ear. Battery lasts a full day. Case provides two days of charging before having to plug in. Good iPhone app that works with them. Works with Bluetooth so you may play music through them.

I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. As someone with mild to moderate hearing loss, finding a reliable and effective solution was a priority for me. Sony has definitely delivered on that front.
First and foremost, the sound quality of these OTC hearing aids is exceptional. The clarity and richness of the amplified sounds are remarkable, allowing me to hear conversations, music, and ambient noises with enhanced precision. Whether it’s the gentle rustling of leaves or the softest whisper, these hearing aids have significantly improved my overall listening experience.
One of the standout features of the Sony OTC Hearing Aids is their user-friendly design. The devices are compact, discreet, and comfortable to wear. The sleek design makes them practically invisible, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that Sony has put into creating a product that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to incorporate into my daily life.
The controls are intuitive, allowing for effortless adjustment of volume and sound settings. Additionally, the built-in noise reduction technology effectively filters out background noise, ensuring that I can focus on the sounds that matter most to me. Whether I’m in a crowded restaurant or a bustling city street, the Sony OTC Hearing Aids have proven to be invaluable in enhancing my ability to hear and engage with my surroundings.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the long-lasting battery life of these hearing aids. I have found that a single charge provides several days’ worth of use, which is incredibly convenient for individuals like myself who lead busy lives. Additionally, the charging case is compact and portable, allowing me to carry it with ease wherever I go.
Lastly, the customer support provided by Sony has been exceptional. From the initial setup to addressing any concerns or questions, their team has been responsive and knowledgeable. It is reassuring to know that Sony stands behind their product and is committed to ensuring a positive user experience.
In conclusion, the Sony OTC Hearing Aids have exceeded my expectations in every way. With their outstanding sound quality, user-friendly design, noise reduction capabilities, and impressive battery life, they have significantly improved my hearing and quality of life. If you are in search of an over-the-counter hearing aid solution, I highly recommend giving the Sony OTC Hearing Aids a try.

I’m really liking these hearing aids. I have used Signia hearing aids in the past and these are clearly based on the same platform. I think that’s good in that you know these are serious hearing aids and that they’re a proven design.
I had previously tried the CRE-C10 model, but really missed having streaming audio from my phone, so I went with these when they became available. I am an iPhone user, and these work as a Made for iPhone hearing aid. Thus means you can control volume from a shortcut such as triple clicking the button. Streaming audio and phone calls also works well. It also means that audio handoff is supported between iOS devices, so I can switch between streaming from my phone and iPad relatively easily. It’s not perfect, but it works well enough that I’m happy with it.
I like the fit of these devices. They sit in my ear nicely and don’t feel like they’re going to fall out, but also aren’t too snug. I have worn these while running on a treadmill without any concern they would fall out. These devices are large enough that they are easily noticeable, if that matters to you, but at the same time they don’t look like conventional hearing aids.
I have been happy with the battery life so far. I haven’t had an issue getting through the day with them. I’m glad they charge in their case like other earbuds so you can get them charged up if running low.
Setup on these is relatively easy. The app leads you through a hearing test and then programs the hearing aids accordingly. The app also allows for a number of adjustments to be made. These devices have directional microphones. By default they work in an automatic mode, but the app lets you manually set the directional mode from to a tight cone in front up to turning it off altogether. My only complaint with this is that the app apparently only sends these commands via speaker, so it always wants the volume at 75%. Would be much nicer if it could send the commands wirelessly.
Overall I’m very pleased with these!

Sony CRE-E10 Hearing Aids

I have been using the Sony CRE-E10 hearing aids for one month. I have found them to provide a significant improvement to my hearing. I had a concussion 25 years ago that caused sudden hearing loss in my left ear along with tinnitus. Last year I had a very bad bicycling accident that injured my right ear and changed my hearing in that ear. I have found these hearing aids to improve my understanding of speech, to improve my music listening and to improve my ability to hear all types of other sounds.
If you are considering these hearing aids for yourself, you may first wish to use a pure tone hearing test. There is a usable one in the Google Play app store simply called Hearing Test. This will produce an audiogram (graph) of both ears ability to hear tones from about 250 hertz to 8000 hertz. This will give you an okay idea about your hearing loss. I recommend using a very good quality pair of noise cancelling headphones with this hearing test. I used a pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones.
Some improvements can be made to the app used to control these hearing aids.
1) I would like to try more than one of the six pre-programmed solutions to the initial setup of the hearing aids. Currently, you cannot toggle between the programs because the app and the hearing aids decide which solution best fits your hearing loss.
2) I would like to be able to store settings to the "Universal Remote" so that when I turn on the hearing aids after charging or I relaunch the app I don't have to reset the volume and treble/bass.
3) I would like to be able to answer phone calls on my Samsung android phone. Currently, these hearing aids only allow iPhones to answer calls and stream audio.
4) I would like to have a better, more accurate, battery level indicator. It appears to me that the power indicator gives only 100%, 90%, 80%, 60%, 40%, 20%. I do, however, like the daily longevity of the batteries. I wear them about 16-17 hours per day and have not yet had a low power warning.

All great except the audio quality

Sony has hit it out of the park with these units for everything that I care about except the audio quality. Unfortunately, that is the most important feature for me. In normal amplification mode (not bluetooth) there are too many clicks and pops, loads of hiss, and a lack of or poorly executed adaptive gain. My brain was never able to ignore the coloration these put on my auditory experience and it always felt as if I was listening to the world through a pair of crappy microphones and cheap headphones. All sense of sound localization was lost. I understand that the brain takes some time to get used to devices and I have some experience with other hearing aids. These just did not perform for me.
As far as ear-fit, charging, iOS app, bluetooth, I could not be happier. Sony got all this down right. Qi charging works quite well and they actually provide an power-off mode for the charging case (and earpieces) meaning that you could actually retain a useful charge on these for at least a week or longer without plugging them in - something that is useful when traveling. Fitting sleeves work well. Bluetooth options are quite easy to configure (at least on iOS). I am returning this pair in favor of a hearing aid with much better audio quality along with a really lousy configuration app and poor recharging features. Alas, audio quality is king.

Hi Sandy! Thank you for taking the time to review our product. I'm sorry the Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids didn't work for you. The extensive fine-tuning section of the Sony Hearing Control App typically helps adjust the sound quality. However, you may consider a hearing care provider to provide a more customized fitting for you. Wishing you success along your hearing journey! Erin

I've been hearing impaired for over 15 years. Can't really hold normal conversation without the use of hearing aids. I've used multiple pairs of prescription and OTC hearing aids, and have found these Sony ones to be the closest thing to the ones I've been prescribed by my audiologist. They are the ONLY OTC hearing aids that work for me, and are loud enough. Good audio quality, and minimal fit issues. Still, the price remains a bit prohibitive... Especially considering you can buy a lower-end professional pair through an audiologist for a similar price (and even possibly have them covered by insurance). But if that's not an option, these are the way to go.

The Sony unit is on the high price end of OTC hearing aids but still significantly lower than Rx devices
Appears to be a quality device
Comfortable to wear
Excellent rechargeable battery time
No feedback during my use
Slight hiss noted
Only control is via the app, there are no onboard switches
Sound is somewhat processed rather than natural which I suspect is normal for hearing aids (never used hearing aids before)
Easy to set-up IF YOU FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!
Works well with iPhone for calls and streaming
Fine tuning function only works if audio routing is set to never hearing aids (just like during initial setup), change back to automatic routing when fine tuning finished so that calls and streaming will work
It does improve the volume and clarity of TV and conversational sounds
Music streaming is ok but sound quality only average not “hi-fi”, but after all it’s primary function is as a hearing aid
Incidental sounds like your own voice, chewing, breathing, footsteps, running water, ‘crinkling’ noises, electronic beeps, door opening/closing are over-amplified, this is due to the occlusion effect which may be lessened by habituation to the hearing aid and/or by using vented instead of closed tips
The Sony unit appears to be like WS Audiology’s Signia Active Pro hearing aids (which are not OTC and are more costly) which is not surprising since the device is a collaboration between Sony and WS Audiology
I have serious tinnitus and the over-amplified extraneous sounds worsened my tinnitus so I decided to return the unit although it has several good qualities and may work well for some users, to be fair this adverse effect may also occur with other hearing aid brands

Hi Jerry! I'm glad you enjoyed the sound quality and comfort of Sony's OTC hearing aids. I'm so sorry they didn't work out for you, although you seemed to have a generally positive experience. Sony OTC hearing aids are not specifically designed to address tinnitus concerns and you may benefit from seeing a hearing care professional. We hope you find a solution to help you on your hearing journey! Thank you for trying our product! Erin
