    This Lens is HOT!!

Not like literally hot of course, but if you're an A7 Series owner, this is a must have piece of glass! The quality of the photos is can produce are astounding and almost unbelievable when you think of how small it is. Yes the f/1.4 is amazing with an aperture 2 stops greater, but in a body immensely larger. When this lens is attached to the body of my A7II, I can't even notice it's there. It's possibly the best all around, versatile as heck, small profile native lens available for the camera right now. If you enjoy taking street, architecture, landscapes, and portraits with amazing bokeh, this lens is a must and you won't regret adding it to your kit.

Here's the thing. I'm a lens junkie. Have been since I can remember. There was a long period when I wasn't shooting all that much. along came digital and my addiction resurfaced. I'm not shooting with Sony Nex and A7 cameras. Over the past several years, I've built up a collection of Leica, Minolta, Olympus and Canon lenses. All of them adapted to work on my e-mount cameras. I chose the FE 35mm as I had no native autofocus lenses for my A7 and I have several 50mm lenses already and only one wide angle option a Leica 28mm Elmarit. This Zeiss lens is most likely the best lens in my collection. Auto focus is quick. Color and contrast are excellent. Images require very little adjustment in Lightroom. This lens is a keeper.

Like many others, I have $$$$$$ dollars invested in one lens or another. By physics, these lens get rather large sometimes depending on what is being done. Sometimes, you just miss the good 'ol days of point and shoot cameras being small. This prime lens does just that for my A7R3 without compromising on image quality. This lens is my go to lens for my A7R3 that is now a great and compact travel camera. The lens is crisp from edge to edge and bokeh is nice. An ideal perfect lens for my needs.

Expensive but super sharp and silen auto focus. Rokinon35mm and Samyang35m are good alternative if you are in lower budget

35mm is a focal length with lots of competition (including from Sony themselves). I grabbed this 35 on an open-box deal for cheaper and used some discounts/gift certificates to sweeten the deal so I bought it for a little over $200 off sticker. At that price it gets 5-stars. At it's MSRP I would say it gets 3.5-4 stars. It really is a great little lens. Very small, very light and very very capable. Tons of photos you can find on my blog at duky.tumblr.com. I used to have the Canon 35mm 1.4L and I will compare it to that: Pros of Sony 35 f2.8: - MUCH smaller and lighter weight - sharper overall (might be because using with A7r II?) Cons of Sony 35 f2.8: - colors don't seem to pop SOOC - f2.8 is weak compared to f1.4 but you still get good bokeh so not complaining too much At full price, I would spend more money and go for the 35 f1.4 probably but with a deal I think this was worth somewhere in the 5-600 range.

The lens is great. I can't rave enough about Zeiss quality lenses and how the effect I get from them are just amazing. The low F stop allows for quicker responses and the auto focus is great. However, I just wish the prices were a little better especially since it is just a single distance.

I recently bought a Sony a7rii (42MP full frame), and the incredible 55mm prime Zeiss lens. I wanted something in the mild wide angle range, and bought this Zeiss 35mm prime. Everyone raves about the 55mm and its sharpness, but this 35mm is also incredibly sharp, it's a convenient focal length, and nice and small. I just made a panorama with three landscape (horizontal) shots (using hugin) and the result is amazing - when I zoom into the image I can see the lens is giving all the detail the 42MP sensor can record across the whole field of view. This is now my default lens, even in preference to the 55mm.

This lens saved me on a job where I needed the extra wide angle view for a wedding without having a fish eyed look! It's sharp and has a good bokeh effect to it as well.

I wanted a lens other then the kit lens for my Sony a7II. I got a good deal from Best Buy because it was an open box item. I am very pleased with the image quality. This lens is a great walk around lens. I use it for landscapes and night photography. I am not a professional photographer, I just enjoy taking photos and this 35mm makes taking photos that much more enjoyable.

This is my default lens for my A7R. It is extraordinarily compact and lightweight. Sure f/2.8 is only so-so compared to the f/1.4 you can get on the 50mm Sony Zeiss Planar... but that lens is super heavy compared to this one. When you are shooting A7R you are already going pretty light weight on the body... and having a super heavy lens feels wrong... unless you need the f/1.4 then yeah okay, but if not, this lens works great.

It's a good sharp lens that really minimizes the camera size and weight. Pity it's only f2.8 as f2.0 would have made it perfect. Hopefully Sigma comes out with a 3rd party solution to fill the need.

This lens is amazingly sharp and very light and compact. I can actually throw it in the pocket of some of my pants and take it with me when hiking with long lens for wildlife. That way if I come across a good landscape opportunity I have a good option with me to get some shots I wouldn’t otherwise be able to achieve.
