Sony makes a good number of quality FE lenses now. However of them ALL this one lens is the one that has NO negative characteristics and simply delivers not only the sharpest image a person could possibly ask for on either a A7II or a A7RII. It is a joy to hold as it's build is solid and smooth. Everything on the lens is quality and well executed including the smooth focus ring. The "bokeh" is about the finest one can get from any lens and easy to achieve as well. Focus is nice and quick and accurate. There is nothing but wonderful things to say and experience with this lens. It is in my opinion a MUST HAVE when you have an A series camera.

One word...STUNNING! This lens beats anything I've had in my camera bag in the last 35 years. And yes, that includes stuff with Leica embossed on the barrel.

Probably the best piece of glass I've owned...image quality on my A7 is just plain amazing and razor sharp.

You can read all the good things about this lens by other reviewers and they are all true. One thing they don't mention is the chromatic aberration. It shows more chromatic aberration compared to the 70-200 F4 G lens. In fact the 70-200 F4 G shows almost no sign of that in almost all pictures I took with it with the A6000. I compare this two lens because these are the only lens I currently own. One size, I don't see any problem with this lens. Two things that would make this lens perfect are OSS and less Chromatic Aberration.

This is one of the sharpest lenses I’ve ever owned – virtually on par with the performance of the legendary $4,000 Zeiss 55mm/1.4 Otus lens yet at a perfect size for Sony E-mount cameras. Great look when used wide open for shallow depth-of-field portraits.

resolution are superb with the FE 55 at f/1.8 wide open with that signature Zeiss color contrast. The auto focus is very responsive in all lighting conditions. All this in a package that compliments the compact a7 ii format and is less than half the size and weight of the FE 50 1.4

I wanted to get this one so bad and I finally put my money on it. This 55mm on a 7Rll is such a pleasure and comfortable as a prime lens. Using it at f/1.8 will give you a beautiful creamy background. A must have!
