The game has been awesome so far. The graphics are similar to the Links Awakening remake for the Nintendo Switch. I preordered through the website and got the strawberry cow. I can understand the low review scores because the website said it was included. I'm just glad I got mine with my online order.

I fell in love with the original when i was much younger, so too revisit it again on some of the best portable hardware yet was amazing. I love that so many who maybe wasn't able to play the original can enjoy the modern upgrades but still has the charm of the original is amazing the devs pulled it off. A must buy for farm sim lovers out there.

I went in store to pick up my game, and the plush was all bundled together with the game in wrap and everything. It’s sad you people are ruining this games wrap because you didn’t get a plush animal. Maybe go in store before you review bomb a classic. Very nice remake and nice quality of life features added to make some prior things, much more simple. Please give it a try!!

Nostalgic for Old Fans

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is a delightful game for old fans of the original GBA version and younger children, but I wouldn't recommend it for newcomers at all. It's a simple game: you're a farmer who plants crops, raises animals, develop relationships with the townsfolk, partake in seasonal events, and forage/mine without any combat. Again, I recommend this only if you have realistic expectations and know it's an extremely casual game. Otherwise, it's an adorable and wholesome experience!
If you're looking to get into the farming genre but wanting a more complex experience, I'd recommend you looking into Stardew Valley which is a masterpiece, play older entries of Harvest Moon from N64-Wii era, or wait for SoS: Pioneers of Olive Town instead which is coming in 2/25/2021. Have fun, farmer!

Such a great game so far! The plushy is so adorable! Today is my birthday but since my husband pre ordered it for me he picked it up yesterday!! I feel this will be much more fun than Animal Crossing! To each their own I guess.

Got it earlier today but was busy so I just started it up! Opening screen looks super cute so I’m really excited to start playing! Also, I don’t know why so many people have misunderstandings about the pre-order bonus, but I got mine AND it was delivered, not pickup. I pre-ordered May 16. My only mistake was not checking the plushie’s dimensions, whoops. Still real cute!

Super cute game gives me nostalgia! I also love that this game comes with a booklet. I miss this.
My only complaint is that time goes by really fast in this game and I do not understand why they changed Ann's name to Ran?

Cute, nostalgic game. Not too different in terms of gameplay just some quality of life improvements that make it a little easier. If you're new to the game you will enjoy the adorable graphics and relaxing game play of starting a farm. This can be played at your own pace and if you enjoy simulation games like Stardew or animal crossing you'll probably be a fan. For anyone who ordered from best buy that didnt receive a cow please go and leave a google review for your local best buy and how they didnt give it to you instead of giving the game a bad review. This could bring down the sales when people go to purchase it later and see all your one stars if they dont actually read them. Not getting the cow wont affect the game play and only preorders got it and it was on best buys end becasue everyone who purchased it directly from XSeed or off amazon got the cow.

A Nostalgic Journey Back in Time

The year was 2000 and I had just picked up a copy of Harvest Moon Back to Nature on PS1. I was 12 years old and quickly became obsessed with the game. I literally poured in hundreds of hours, had different saves stored on different memory cards and probably beat the game half a dozen times. Though I never played the GBA remake “Friends of Mineral Town” it was more or less the same game with a few extras. Twenty years later I bought this game and though it's not a “Back to Nature” remake it's a remake of a remake and anyone familiar with Back to Nature game will find it about 90% the same as that game. This version even uses some of the original music tracks found in Back to Nature. I bought this game almost immediately upon learning of it's release and absolutely marathoned the first 10 or 15 hours on a nostalgia trip. However by Autumn of the first year it started to wear a little thin and I started mentally comparing it to Stardew Valley. This game still holds up, it's still good and well designed. However the design, the dialogue of the characters, the amount of things to do in the world. I would say this was cream of the crop in the year 2000. Though I hate to say it I think Stardew Valley improved upon many aspects of this genre. Before you go down-voting me I do like this game! It's an absolute classic. But I kind of wish Marvelous had taken some notes from Stardew Valley about how to possibly modernize their game and give it a little more depth. This game though I still love it feels a little dated in comparison. Still it's a heavy recommend to fans of the original game or anyone bored with Stardew Valley who just wants something different. Hopefully Marvelous will being us more great Story of Seasons games in the future! On a side note that has nothing to do with the game I am a little salty I never got my cow plush with my order despite pre-ordering the game.

So Excited (Got plushie)

So excited to play this when I get home I don’t even need the gameplay to know it’s 5 stars. I’ve been playing “Harvest Moon” since snes (and before the name change) so this will be straight nostalgia like Animal crossing.
I got a plushie and I did NOT pre order so it was a surprise bonus. I’m sorry to those that did not get their bonus and glad to see that’s the *only* reason these reviews are so bad.

I was so excited to receive this game today! It has fantastic graphics and new features that stay up to date with the newer releases in the Story of Seasons franchise. It even comes with a guide booklet like the older games! However, like many others I did not receive my strawberry cow plush. I am very upset that Best Buy did not update their pages after running out of plushies. I did just get off a chat with a customer service rep who said that they'll be shipping out the plushies to the people who didn't get theirs in the next 24-48 hours, I am uncertain how true that statement is, but it makes me slightly more hopeful that I'll finally get my hands on the strawberry cow adorableness. This game is definitely still worth buying.

This is my childhood game growing up! I'm glad technology is evolving to give a more higher quality of the game. Although it looks really different from the last version I played, it still has the same characters and secrets. I appreciate the consistency. Thank God is 2020 and I can be a girl and marry a girl! I'm only on year 3 so far and I still can't put the game down. Yes, farming can be repetitive and I can understand if it's not for everyone, but if you enjoy simplistic game where you can meet people, attend festivals, take care of cute farm animals, and achieve goals, try it out. I lost the nostalgic feeling I get when I play. They did a good job.

If you played the GBA version and loved it, you will absolutely love this version. It is very nostalgic of the GBA version and honestly the quality of life upgrades are great. I would recommend the game to anyone who would like a no stress game to play. However, like most of the reviews, I preordered the game knowing I would get the bonus but it was not included. (Spoke with Best Buy Customer service and they acknowledged it was not listed as a pick up only on the game page but there wasn't anything they could do.) Pretty disappointed in that but the game is wonderful. I won't be preordering from Best Buy again in the future.

This game is super relaxing. Picked one up for the wife also and she's in love with it. Definitely not your typical game, but lots of fun. If you sometimes don't feel like killing or solving puzzles, this is a great game for those moments where you just want to chill. I honestly thought it would be boring at first but I couldn't have been more wrong. I find myself playing it more than some of my other games! Graphics are great!
Definitely grab a copy, especially if you can get it on sale!

This game is wonderful and if you're burnt out on animal crossing it will scratch an itch for something simplistic yet time consuming.
Dialogue is overall repetitive but balanced well by friendship and heart events that add plenty of character depth to the residents.
Farming is satisfying and really gets the feeling of working towards goals going.
Really hard to put down, give it a go!
Game also visually looks better than it comes across in screenshots and videos.

I used to play Harvest Moon 64 as a kid and this is similar enough that it will bring back all the good memories, but different enough that there's still a lot to learn and new things to do in the game. I never played the original Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA, so I can't make a comparison, but I've been having difficulties putting the game down since I started playing. It's so stinking cute and it's so relaxing to play. The daily activities in the game don't feel like a chore (I felt like they were when playing Animal Crossing New Horizons) but they're actually fun to do. The feature where you can actually see your relationships with the villagers and sprites improve is also a good incentive to actually give them gifts. The struggle of deciding between giving an item to a villager and selling it to make money is real. My brother used to love Harvest Moon 64 as well as a kid and I decided to buy another copy of the game and gift it to him.
