I am transitioning from a wireless security system to a wired one and I have found this to be a real contender and great option for this looking for something affordable, easy to setup and a system that is highly customizable. Out of the box, I thought the setup and installation would be a lot harder than it actually was. There a lot of wires, plugs, etc and I was beginning to feel overwhelmed until I started reviewing the instructions and setting it up. It was very straightforward and easy! Yes it’s a wired system. Yes it will take some planning and strategy on camera and DVR placement. But that will afford you higher quality video, better connectivity, lower latency and all the other benefits of having a wired system not dealing with bandwidth restrictions and buffering of WiFi. Once up and running the pictures and videos were bright clear and honestly better quality than my 4K wireless cameras bc of all the compression associated with transmission over wifi. Very happy and impressed with this system so far.

Overall, I think this is a quality solid system that can work for quite a few people. Set-up was a bit cumbersome for me, mainly having to work out the wiring and location, but as a whole, was not that bad and mainly a case of doing the work upfront to be set up for a long-time kind of thing. Otherwise, no setup issues for me.
As for the cameras themselves, while not 4K (and at a better price point), they give a nice, detailed, and clear picture (day or night), with a lot of options, which are always welcome. Same with the software and operation. Motion detection. Deterrence features (light and sound). Voice control. Alerts. All of these are welcome, and work well (I do really like the red and blue lights). I really also do appreciate that you do not need “a service” for this product. It seems this is becoming rarer these days. I do think a major miss, and I guess I understand the choice, was only allowing 1-Way audio. I just think 2-Way is almost a requirement for me with this kind of product. The functionality is something I am simply just looking for. That said, for others, or their particular setup, this may not be the case. Just something to note.
Build-wise, I think everything should last for some time. Of course, this is going to have to be wait and see kind of thing for me, but the cameras themselves as well as the wiring are well-built, and I think will hold up. Same for the other hardware, and while I maybe could have used more cameras included (although that would obviously have raised the price), I do like that the system is built to allow for more cameras if the need arises in the future. This one is always a toss-up, but hopefully they take the same approach with their software and not only keep stuff current, but also improve it over time. We shall see.
Ultimately, I like these cameras and this system. Good cameras, nice features, an effective DVR set-up (with no plan), and hardware that should last. At a nice price point. The value is there. While the wiring/power was not my favorite part, it does provide more stability than wireless, and once the work is done you are set. Obviously, your needs and setup will play a part, but I think this system will work for most people.

My family & I I have tried numerous home security systems through the years and each year they get better and better. Recently, and we went through a mini brands over the years before finally finding our groove with Swann Security’s home security systems & Swann is only one of two manufacturers that I trust to protect my family or have their cameras in our home for any security system type usage.
Having recently switched an uncle to a similiar system by Swann I was able to get the system up and running in no time just like I did with our other one that we have in Sutter home this one we used for keeping track of the outside of the home, since we have other Swann cameras already inside the home (8 to be exact) and wanted to do more outside the home so these 4 supplement our 4 we already had outside. I like having the systems on their own DVR/NVR (we have both already) and So used this systems for its 4 additional 1080p cameras. I do have a 1440p ultra-wide monitor with multiple HDMI inputs which allows me to hook the two outdoor systems’ DVRs to one monitor but it will display them side by side at the same time, so effectively having them on one…sorta. As I type this I realized I do want to try to combine the systems into one and I’ll be doing that later to see how it works but for now I use is 1 mouse with a USB splitter that allows me to push a button and switch between each system freely for using the mouse. I have been wanting to try a wireless mouse that I can get two dongles for and see if I could control both systems from one mouse just because of the old school hacker in me wants to give it a try and see if it works! Lol!
The system was easy to set up just like Swann’s systems always are. The app, while easy to use, I really wish they would just migrate all their systems to 1 app. This category in the market place of home security systems has every single company doing this segmentation of itself by having “App A for only these systems and then App B for all for these systems, but you have to use App C then this other app for this 1 particular system”. That needs do really be dealt with and get your users experiencing the same thing at least within the same calendar year for releases hardware (the industry is bad avoid this last one in particular not necessarily Swann). Anyway, the app for this system is easy to use & we had someone attempt to walk up on our home, I’m still not sure what for, and the flashing disco lights of red & blue meant they left quickly. I wasn’t home but my wife was and it spooked her that someone was trying at 1am to walk up to our home and so I’ll be upgrading all our systems and deploying more items as well just to be safe.
The one way audio was a no feature and while I like two way audio it is not and would not be a deal breaker for me because being able to hear what is occurring is a huge plus. Case in point when the unknown individual approached our home we had audio of what was said. Let’s just say he let out a rather excited expletive and he high tailed it away. It was rather comical but worrying too. I don’t fault the system for that at all. I fault
The individual for whatever he was doing what he was doing.
This system with its various analytics or AI type identification behavior is a great addition to our home and something I’m extremely happy we did!

Decent setup for 1080p

As of now I installed the system just under two weeks ago. So far it is doing exactly what it is intended for. The picture quality is great in the daytime and at night it gives basically what it is capable of doing.
Customer service by came to my rescue after I encountered some issues. They are very professional and took quality time to ensure I was completely satisfied.
I will be buying Swann products in the future because of price, quality and excellent customer service.
This is a continuation of my experience so far.
The system goes offline without any obvious reasons. I contacted the team and I was given instructions as to how to proceed. With me at work, I had to screen shot those instructions to someone at my house. The instructions were so clear and precise that this individual who is far from being tech savvy, was able to do exactly what was required. The information along with screen shots were related back to the technician who was able to diagnose that I am having a connectivity problem with my internet provider. It has indeed turned out to be that the internet provider is at fault.
Will I continue with this product? Sure, I am seriously contemplating moving up to the 16 channel very soon.
With the performance of the system and the quick and efficient customer service support, at least two of my neighbors are getting ready to purchase. Well, one of them actually made a purchase already.
This company knows what it is to provide excellent customer service and support.

I've used Swann DVR/camera systems in the past several times with great success and satisfaction - this time is no different. As long as you're comfortable running the cables, whether it be through the attic/crawl-space in your house or routing them out of reach on the exterior of the house, it's super-simple to install. Mount the cameras using the included screws, point them where you want them to watch, plug them into the DVR, and enjoy having eyes in all corners outside. NOTE and word of caution - make a point of testing the cameras before running the cables and mounting them as if one of them doesn't work, you'll be a bit upset that you wasted the time!
DVR setup is very easy and guided. I use an ethernet cable to run to my internet connection, giving me access to all of the cameras via my Android phone app. I noted right away though that I had to run off the notifications on my phone as I was getting alerted every time a car drove by, a pedestrian walked by, or a neighborhood animal came through the frame.
It does have a neat feature of flashing blue/red lights like a miniature police car's light when it detects motion, however I learned very quickly that the neighbors don't like seeing the flashing through their windows as often as motion was detected, so I opted to go with the LED white lights when motion is detected.
Overall this is a nice setup. I don't need 2k or 4k resolution, just a good , basic DVR and cameras to go with it - you can't go wrong with this system!

Solid Security for Home and Business

Have installed, tested, reviewed, and relied upon numerous DVR Camera Security systems for over a decade. In all the systems that I have utilized at home and in business the bottom line comes down to ease of use, security, and reliability.
At home the top priority as always is family safety and businesses are staff safety as well safeguarding property at home and away.
Other priorities in a system for me are ease of use which typically focuses on the system’s app, installation, and maintenance. Systems that are easily taught to others and steps to utilize the security system are equally important. If you have an event with police on scene to a break-in, etc. at 3am you do not want to be fumbling about trying to recall how to pull up video in the heat of the moment. I know from experience as I have been in a room full of officers after a business break-in at 3am. Was able to call up videos in minutes on my laptop. Led to an arrest.
My experience with Swann has been that they have continually met and exceeded my expectations. The release of this Swann system and its meeting and adaptability to my needs and requirements is another winner. The system merges seamlessly with an existing Swann installation expanding my coverage.
Having been utilizing Swann systems for four years and appreciate that the company and engineers have not sat still, they continually have developed, improved, and adapted new tech standards.
Swann installations are quite straight forward, especially with their App installation and instructions which guide you through the complete setup. The system comes with 60” of wire for each of the four cameras which covers plenty of real estate for the typical user. All required hardware is included.
One App function I value is having more than one Swann system running I can bring up the App to show all the camera views at all locations, home, business, and my garage are all available on same page, just scroll down to monitor. One way voice over coax is clear.
Appreciate that you are not required to have a subscription like many of the companies now require for video storage/viewing, you can simply save your video data to the 1tb DVR for viewing. Though Swann does offer an optional subscription which is good, that offers Cloud Storage which is nice if DVR crashes or is not available after an event.
This Swann system offers many in-depth specs and options to fine tune advanced monitoring to meet the most demanding environment or simply set to monitor a Bird Feeder, which I do at home.
Swann Security Systems has become my go to platform and provides coverage for both my home and business, it works.

Great camera system. The image is very clear and can be very simple to install. This is a wired system so some minor modifications may be needed depending on where you want the DVR mounted. The system is quite enough but i would recommend having a closet to set up in. The image provided by the cameras is actually very clear and you don't have to guess what a figure is. This is a great system to have as a starter but look into getting more cameras if you have many blind spots. The cameras do feel a bit flimsy because they are mostly plastic. All the hardware needed for install is encluded but you will need some of your own tools such ad drills, fish tape, and caulk. The cables are long enough to run in the attic and have a central location. The lights are very bright. This is an 8 channel DVR system that can also be used with the Swann security app. Thew DVR itself is 1TB which offers enough memory to record what is happening 24/7. Overall very satisfied and would recommend you buy this system.
Pros: Clear Image, Quiet, all hardware included

Good for the right situation

This Swann Enforcer A/V security system has some really good qualities and also some that are lacking. First, the good stuff: the included cameras have great resolution and built-in microphones to pick up audio. They have a Color at Night feature to show night-time footage in full color. They have controllable and sensor-activated spotlights that are plenty bright, along with flashing red/blue lights that will definitely be a deterrent to would-be intruders. The Swann app has customizable settings where you can set up schedules for Home/Night/Away to fit your lifestyle.
Now the not-so-good: The DVR hard drive must be direct wired to your router or modem. There is not a Wi-Fi option with this model. The extension cables for the cameras to connect them to the DVR are 60 ft long, which is great except for when your DVR has to be next to the modem and you need to put the cameras more than 60 ft away from the DVR. Since most people will want to put these cameras outside, it really limits the placement options.
IT set-up is a little tricky, and I'm still getting some error codes on the screen. Customer support is lacking somewhat. I waited over 4 hours for a representative to call be back, even though my wait was supposed to be only 15 minutes. I hesitate to call about the other error codes yet. The chatbox/automated assistant is zero help. I'm pretty tech savvy, so trouble for me is probably trouble for most.
That being said, I would recommend this unit, but it must be for the right situation. A wireless option may be better for most people even at more cost.
