Nice walkabout lens for Canon Rebel series

Nice inexpensive general purpose lens. I bought this to go on my old Rebel T5 for the wife to shoot with when we go out hiking. She is just learning, but still taking nice shots with this lens. Build quality is good. Nothing that feels loose, rings move smoothly, but with enough resistance. Autofocus work pretty well, given the body it's on. Pictures are maybe a bit sharper than I was expecting for the price. It is a good value lens, and I would recommend to anyone looking for an AIO zoom lens that won't break the budget. I also own a Tamron 18-300 for Sony E mount that is more than double the price of this, but doesn't necessarily double the picture quality. For the pictures, the clouds were shot @27mm f5.6, the squirrel at 200mm f14, Flower closeup at 140mm f8, and same flower, wide at 18mm f3.5. Pretty versatile, and can do some relatively macro type shots too.

This lens is amazing on a Canon T3i!

So, I recently upgraded to an EOS 6D Mark II, and was in a hurry to get an all purpose single lens for it (I have a variety of prime EF lenses). I found this one with 18-200mm, and “image stabilization,” and thought what a bargain. I ordered it, seeing it had a red mark on it, and the Best Buy description states it is for EF lens mount cameras. Well, guess what, this lens is intended for use with a crop sensor body, not full frame. For giggles, I attached it to my T3i, and I have to say I’m impressed! So far it is taking tack sharp pictures, although I haven’t pushed it too hard yet, and having 18-200mm (x1.5 due to the drop sensor,) is super nice. I’ve been using the T3i with this lens in my back yard and it’s been a lot of fun. I’m ordering a Sigma 28-300mm for me D6 Mark II, and I’m going to keep this 18-200mm Tamron for my T3i and Rebel XT, For my kids to use.

I am not a professional photographer. I want to buy the original Cannon brand zoom lens for my Cannon Rebel SL1 But they are out of stock. So the Bestbuy sales recommended me to get this one. It was on sale with better price that fits my budget. I think the quality is good. I use it to take picture for my son's graduation since I sat far away from the stage. The pictures came out good with this zoom len.

I almost returned this due to not understanding how to use it. Make sure you know a little bit about lighting and stability before buying or opt for a higher quality one. Once I understood how to use it, it was an awesome zoom lens for the Zoo. Pros: Nice Zoom Very Light Great with Burst Mode Cons: Took some getting used to Not great in contrast or low light

What can I say about this lens? This is my go-to lens. If I want something close to wide angle I shoot on 18mm, and if I want to try portrait photography I shoot on 50mm, and if I really need a shot of something far away I take it all the way to 200mm. This is definitely always in my camera bag.

Usually buy Cannon lenses, but with as little as I actually shoot now-a-days I couldn't beat the price and it did great for me. Very happy with the images and didn't have to switch lenses the whole shoot!

Versatile best budget lens on its segment

This is a budget friendly zoom lens which is designed for everyday use. The focal length covers from 18 mm wide angle to 200 mm telephoto covers wide variety of shots from landscape to portraits which makes it a versatile lens for travel or every day use. The look and feel of the lens is impressive with good quality plastic that it looks and feels sturdy. The VC (Vibration Compensation) is the best selling point of this lens. Tamron has nailed the image stabilization aspect of this lens and it doesn’t feel any different from expensive canon or Nikon lens IS technology. You may notice a slight movement in the viewfinder when the VC is used for zooming in on the subject for the first time but it is hardly noticeable or a disturbance for me. The image quality is excellent in mid f stops (f 11 to f 16) which produce more detail and sharpness throughout the image. But when using the lens with wider angle the image quality at the center is pretty good but becomes soft around the corners and can see chromatic aberrations. At 200 mm telephoto, you can see some distortions or noise around the edges but it does a great job in good lighting conditions. For indoor use, you should make sure you have good light to get the better out of this lens. I would suggest to use lower aperture and shutter speed to allow more light for the lens in indoor/low light conditions. Using a tripod will make your life easier as hand holding a camera in low light increases the odds that the shot will be blurry, especially with a shutter speed of less. Verdict: Overall a budget friendly all in one use lens ideal for travel and everyday use. If you explore and get to know how to extract the most out of this one, I am sure you will be impressed with this lens from Tamron! Not to remind you that Tamron is one of the best makers of DSLR camera lens in the market.

I was hesitant to get a "generic" lens for my Canon body but I was so pleasantly surprised. This lens is a staple in my lens bag. It is amazing quality and a great price.

My son has become an avid photographer so he needed a stronger lense for his canon rebel 5, he lives this lense, because it's all in one and doesn't have to be swapping lenses. And you can't beat the price. Excellent

Very nice lens. I had a slight learning curve, but hands on experience cuts it short. I got this for a trip to Banff in Alberta, Canada. Photos were stunning and so easy to capture what I wanted with this lens.

I wanted to love this lens. First one I bought I returned because it seemed defective. I think it may have been, but my second attempt with the item isn't a 5 star review, either. It's a good lens for outdoor shots close up. Or for very well lit. Sadly it's unpredictable otherwise and I never know if the photos will be any good. :/

Bought this to be my everyday walk around lens. Great price for a focal length of 18-200mm. It's a "good" lens, but I really was expecting a little more, as Tamron does have a great reputation. Maybe I'm spoiled by the smooth focusing of Canon lenses. This lens just doesn't glide as smoothly as I would like it to when focusing from one focal length to another. Not a huge deal, just that I'm not used to it. Not as fast a lens as I would like it to be, but produces great images when the lighting is right. This would be a great lens to take on vacation to "click and go".

Great leans. I've used this lens a couple of times. I'm a beginner so I don't take pictures every day. But it's a true "all in one " lens. The pictures that I have taken with this lens are absolutely beautiful. The only problem that I have with this lens is when I put my camera in manual mode for some reason I can't adjust the aperture. Other than that , I definitely recommend this lens.
