    Buggy OS, and not just the Google TV experience

    Software updates have not helped. I’m about to return mine due to TCL-specific OS bugs. I’ve seen this issue reported on older (non-Google) TCL sets too, but Dolby Vision breaks for me all the time where the image turns green. This happens both with the internal apps, but also with external devices like an Apple TV. I have to change settings on the TV or external devices (like disabling Dolby Vision completely), or unplug the TV each time to fix it. I also have constant problems with sound bar volume control glitching over eArc. Pressing mute frequently mute and unmute or vice versa. I also can’t press and hold the volume button to get a constant change upper down. I have to tap the button repeatedly. I love the picture quality on this TV when it works correctly, but I’m not willing to put up with having to fix it all the time.

    It's a flag ship to your getting the best can't go wrong but note all the people saying it has begs when in fact it doesn't it's a wifi 6 tv so you need a wifi 6 router/modem or plug it into your wifi 5 with Ethernet I promise it works perfect but people over looked that fact also if you up grade to WiFi 6(you need to for this tv) all your other wifi 2 & 5 devices will be compatible

    When purchasing a budget-brand, feature-loaded 55" TV for $700, you are seduced by the bang for the buck. However, there are certain quality issues that are not negotiable. After hauling this TV home and carefully installing, I was ecstatic with the picture. After running the TV for 15 minutes, I realized there was a problem. When viewing the screen from a slight angle in our family room, the screen had a wavy, or ripple effect in the screen. Research from the internet will reveal that this is a common issue with this series. I am attaching a picture from AVS Forum that shows perfectly what I am describing. Needless to say, I immediately returned the set to Best Buy, and purchased a Sony X90J. There is no comparison with these units; you get what you pay for. $200 is not much more if you use the set for 8 years+....... By the way, you should not have to win a panel lottery when purchasing these TVs.

    Possibly defective but no one to talk to…

    I ordered this model -55r646- and I noticed the top two corners of the panel are rounded and do not fit flush in the frame. I suspect TCL installed this panel upside down. I’ve spoken to three different people at Best Buy, two of which agree the panel is upside down. (The Best Buy chat representative first said it is correct but then didn’t seem so sure.) Despite having photos of the panel readily available and offering to send them for review, Best Buy required a pickup and exchange to confirm whether my unit is defective. Guess I’ll find out.

    Best Buy will not let me post the in-depth review I wrote for “inappropriate language” even though I have not a single inappropriate word in it. So I guess they’re forcing me to keep it brief. So I’ll just say this: It doesn’t work. Google TV OS does not work. None of my content - AppleTV+ Disney+ HBOMAX even the free IMDbTV don’t work. Youtube only works when it isn’t 4k content and even then it’s spotty. The GoogleTV forces you to enable CEC to correctly use eARC, which means for my sound bar to turn on and be controlled by the TV, I have to turn on CEC which then also controls my PlayStation 5. These devices do not communicate well between each other under this TV OS, to the point that my PS5 won’t play any audio at all, unless it disconnect the sound bar and disable those settings, which makes it pretty useless. All in all, while some of the new boots sound nice (HDMI 2.1, HDR10+, 4k 120hz), they’re a moot point when the interface doesn’t allow the tv to function. I literally can’t play any of my streaming media, and can’t use my PS5 with a sound bar. Doesn’t really sound like a Smart TV to me. Stick to Roku.

    Broken at first sight

    Dead on arrival. The Best Buy sales person still let me purchased it even the box is already smashed up on the bottom corner and insists that there’s nothing wrong. When I got home it was broken so disappointed to go back and have it replaced with another model such a hassle

    I purchased this tv openbox excellent which clearly states tv is 0 damage with all acessories. The tv i recieved did not have the remote, stand, powercord or any of the paper work. It also has 2 3inch scratches on the screen, clearly damaged. I was told at the store open items do not come with a remote, powercord, stand or paper work. But after some words with the manager we opened 2 of the other 6 of the same model they had in stock to complete my tv minus paperwork. The scratches i didnt notice at first due to everything else being missing i didnt fully inspect screen. This experence is bad. Clearly excellent open box means an incomplete damaged item. I will find another company with standards to take my business. Elite member for the last time.

    Gets so hot it melted my screen

    If you leave it on for 12+ hours it begins to get hot to the touch starting at the bottom left where you plugin the power cord. I had it on low power mode. This tv need to be recalled

    Bought the TV 3 days ago to find a dark spot on the lower left end of the screen. Seems like a min-LED died. Not visible on usual content, but if that part of the screen is bright it's hard to not notice it anymore Have spoken to best buy customer support and they are kind of giving me the run-around when it comes to exchanging it. Will update this review if I get my tv exchanged

    Trust me...don't buy this TV

    DO NOT BUY THIS TV. TCL is a of the barrel company with comical quality control. I'm my THIRD unit and all have had issues. First one had little dark spots all over the panel. Second one came with a big dent on the back and a huge dark oval on the panel. Now the third one has dead pixels. NO ONE SHOULD BUY ANYTHING TCL.

    This tv had a great picture and the user interface was decent and it was great for my ps5 but the build quality on the tv i got was sub par the screen popped on one side in under 2 weeks
