In a fictional Republic of Zubrowka a clever concierge works schemes to achieve dreams. Many a-list actors add long or brief period piece performances to tell a comedic romantic tail laced in layers of intrigue and suspense. We can have a few drinks and enjoy the slapstick chic or notice details that intertwine over time to reveal what and who and why and how things got so crazy.

This is one of the best films I have ever seen. The cinematography is simpy beautiful, and the characters are so amazing and intriguing that they will carry you along this amazing journey. And the comedy aspect!! This film is truly funny when it has to be funny. If you enjoy great stories, terrific performances, and incredibly funny moments, then you need to watch this film.

This movie has excellent acting and directing. It's fast moving with authentic on-site filming. It begins in 1932 and shows the beginnings of socialistic expansion into Eastern Europe. It is a gradual take-over with some final scenes showing tanks and storm troopers. An intertwined story traces the history of the Grand Budapest Hotel with it's key "Lobby Boy" called Zero. His entire family had been shot near Tibet and he fled to Budapest. The people in this area are now coming under persecution and eventual take-over or extermination. Another story is about a longtime wealthy vacationer or guest and her relationship to the hotel's conceriege, M. Gustave. She ends up being poisoned by her son but leaves everything to M. Gustave in a special will only executed upon her murder instead of natural death. As M. Gustave is executed he leaves everything to Zero who takes over and continues the hotel as before although the numbers of guest are much lower. I strongly recommend this film for it's acting, directing, and rare truthful historical plot. It is very relevant for today's times that undergo a "peaceful" process called "change" or "progress".

Great price, it was wonderful. Then the film itself is gorgeous so you have to see it in the best presentation available, and while we wait for 4k to become affordable Blu-ray is the way to go. So what is going on with this edition? It’s have subtitles in French and also and very importantly in Spanish. Then you can download it to your computer, not so sure how this work if your computer does not have a blu –ray drive but it’s a great selling point. The transfer’s looks great at least until 4k gets to be the standard. But the film itself, the most important thing is really, really great. It’s one of the best American films of the last decade. Buy it. Even if you have not seen it before and if you have it’s a film worth a repeated look.

Classic Wes Anderson style. Very funny if you like his drier sense of humor. The story line is very easy to follow. Love all of the cameos by all of the famous actors and actresses. Would highly recommend everyone see this movie.

"La Cage aux Folle" it is not. Modified for the American Audience (instead of French) this version of the story doesn't hold the gentle nuances of the original French film. It's entertaining and funny at times. I'd say watch this one and then "La Cage aux Folles" for an interesting comparison.

Lots of twists and turns in a lengthy but interesting story that also has lots of historical perspective. Big cast, famous names, great story, direction, acting, screenplay. Some of the edits were a bit quick for me but I think the director was trying to keep the pace up a bit...

On its surface the story seems like it could fail... but the acting, story, visuals and directing are so good that I watched it a second time the next day. It is another great Wes Anderson film.

This movie is so fun, funny and just a great time. The ensemble cast is amazing! My wife loves the costumes and set design and the story is easy to follow, but your here for the laughs.

This movie is really funny, and it looks amazing in HD. If you’re into the wes anderson style then this film should be a no brainer if you’re wondering if you’ll like it or not

If you are a Wes Anderson fan, this one won’t disappoint. His geometric cinematography really shines in the hotel setting of this movie. The case is consistent and strong too.

Ironically, this was such an off the radar movie. I went into it with such low expectations, and Its now one of my all-time favs. My wife absolutely loves this movie.

Wes Anderson is a master director, his humor is slick and witty and he knows how to work his magic with a camera. Beautifully shot and directed with a fantastic cast!

At this price, I couldn't resist. Another great film for my collection! It is such a beautifully shot movie with a lot of quirky characters and that dry Wes Anderson humor.

This film is smart, creative and doesn't take itself too seriously at times. It's a fun cat-and-mouse adventure that is shot beautifully. Highly recommend!

Wes Anderson makes a certain polarizing type of film that you'll either love or hate. Solid storytelling and great overall film here, definitely worth checking out.

I had to dock it a star only because I haven’t finished it completely yet. Not fair to the movie but I just can’t give a full 5 without finishing it first. Loved everything I’ve seen so far though!

This movie is a great comedy. This movie is one that I can watch more than one time and still find it just as good the umpteenth time as the first time.

fun, funny comedy that gave more laughs . . . Grand Budapest Hotel was filled with a great cast of character working through a who done it concept. This was just a laugh for all to have.
