Sci Fi Giant Shark flick

I thought The Meg was a fun and engaging shark movie that was interesting to the end. The setup and the first third or so of the film was good while letting you get to know the cast. Once the megalodon comes into the picture the tempo picks up and doesn't let go until the very end. Sure some parts were what you'd expect from a movie like this while others had me guessing as to how a scene would play our.
Overall, I'd recommend this movie if you want a fun movie about a giant
shatk that has an engaging cast of likable characters. Worth a buy but for sure a rent.

Pros:
Movie is meh.
3D option.
Slipcover.
Digital Copy.
Cons:
Overpriced.
This Atmos mix on 11.2 (7.2.4) was nothing to brag about.
Passive 3D is a beaut on an OLED, 4K upscale but this was flat with no pop outs or depth.
No 4K/3D combo.

The movie is great and all it is. The steel book version isn’t worth the money It is just a steel cover and nothing else. Not even a booklet or Pham let of the movie. Won’t buy steelbook again.
The movie I enjoyed. A bit slow and my hero got eaten in the end but that’s life

Now I know why this was on sale for $10. This is about as cheesy as it gets. Acting is horrible, the comedy is atrocious, and the movie is just plain bad. Nice SteelBook to look at, won’t probably be opened again anytime soon.

Rating is due to delivery damage not the content or the movie itself.
The steelbook arrived very damaged. There was a clear dent that cracked the plastic hinge. The Disc was not damaged but you get a steelbook for the packaging as well

"Whole family?" You ask.
"Indeed!" Is the reply.
My 5 year old, hitting the age where he wants to be involved with the "cool" stuff... where seeing a preview for a movie that he wants to see and the response has to be "no" to many, was happy that after my wife & I previewed The Meg, was able to watch it, and loved every single moment of this two hour film. (This really was a great year for Dads like myself, who are into horror, but have young ones at home that are aware of our love, but aren't yet old enough to participate. Between Meg, Venom, and Once Upon a Deadpool, both horror & "what's currently cool" was made available in ways to include our under-17 kids).
The Meg falls into more action than actual horror, and while there's a couple scenes many parents may not want their kids seeing, those bloody scenes are restricted to Meg on sea creature violence- a food chain connection rather than gratuitous violence for violence's sake.
Does this mean no humans perish at the hands... errr... flippers of The Meg? Of course not, but those scenes are amazingly blood-free to the point of disappointment to those going in expecting an ocean full of body parts.
Where everyone wants a piece of shark films since Jaws hit us 40 years ago, a genre SyFy never says "no" to, that's become a mockery of itself... in LARGE part due to SyFy and their mass produced "contributions" to the genre (and despite honest attempts from elsewhere,) there's only 6 truly great, fun shark films: the original Jaws, the first Deep Blue Sea, the under the radar Aussie film, Bait, 47 Meters Down, The Shallows, and now The Meg.
The steelbook art is gorgeous, and like many 4K films, it always seems like those featuring water tend to have more highlights for the format, and The Meg does NOT disappoint.
A ton of fun, and one I ACTUALLY hope they investigate a sequel for.

The Meg - Fun over the top

The Meg is an entertaining movie! I know I can't say anything new that you don't already know, but I would recommend this movie if you don't mind over the top action and story. I knew tons of people would give this 1-2 stars and complain about it as much as possible, but I'll ignore the naysayers on this one. I had to give it 4 stars for good action, good effects in most the movie, (some were bad) and the lighting. I thought this movie was going to be hard to watch because most movie's like this are too dark on top of dark or you'll see the thing when it comes up close, but it definitely wasn't like that at all.

I missed this in the theaters so I made sure to purchase it when it came out to buy. It is a bit over the top if you are talking reality, but if you are looking to see a sci-fi thriller, this is a good one to watch. It stars Statham, so you already know there is going to be some action, and it delivers. The clarity from the Blu-ray disc was excellent, but I don't have a 4K TV so I cannot comment on that. This movie was fairly good in my opinion, and if you are in the mood for this type of movie, I would pick this up. This is like Jaws on steroids! I bought the steelbook so it made it that much better!

Giant shark + Jason Statham should = a great time. But this flick takes a Mega long time to introduce the setting, the characters, and their backstory. Eventually the action picks up, and the movie finally switches gears from a lesser ABYSS to a bonkers JAWS. The disc features solid picture & sound, plus some good making-of features. This won’t unseat DEEP BLUE SEA as a guilty pleasure, but it’s a pretty good time once the Stath gets his Quint on.

Do you like a fairly good popcorn movie? Here is one for you to be sure. Once again humans go where they shouldn't and cause the requisite disaster. We have a submersible that goes deeper than man as ever gone and \broken a type of heat seal allowing the beast to rise above and cause all kinds of havok. Jason Staitham and the rest of the cast are all pretty good and they are taken this problem very seriously. The beastie is pretty convincing and, of course, livies are lost and some aren't, isn't that the fun....who is fish food and who isn't?
