Solid TVs for an Unbeatable Black Friday Price!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 2 of these on Black Friday 2017 at $278 a pop. Solid TV's with exceptional picture quality and decent sound. Only thing I do not like is the remote that came with it. Had to purchase another remote with numerical digits. Chromecast works well but havent really used it much. I use a Sony 4K player on it and the picture is truly fantastic. Never owned a Toshiba but after almost 2 years, I'd recommend it!

Chromecast and limited remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is Chromecast and not Smart Wifi. This means a cell phone with apps is required to watch Netflix. I have Firestick for streaming and an antenna for local stations so Chromecast was not an issue compared to the cost saving. Since I am using an antenna, switching between channels is a little inconvenience because there is no numbers or recall function on the remote; but, channel + and channel - toggles through the stations relatively quickly.

First 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does what it’s supposed to do and the chrome cast is great! Only problem is that the remote has to be aimed in a very specific position for it to work.

Not bad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great 55' 4k TV for the price. Played 4K demo video on youtube, the sound and picture are very good. Don't like the remote. It does not have number keys. It is very inconvenient. Like want to change channel from 2 to 40, I have to press or hold the channel key again and again. Also it is not smart TV. Have to case using cell phone. Cannot make it simple.

For the price it's a good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paid $279 for it as a door buster. The only complaint I have is that the remote doesn't have a number pad. The tv wants to rely on you using Chromecast primarily.

A lot for a little - with some caveats
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, for anyone who doesn't know, Toshiba has not made TVs for the US market since 2015. Instead, they have licensed their name to Compal Electronics, a Taiwanese manufacturer known for producing computers for major brands including Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo and, of course, Toshiba. For this reason, you will not find this model on Toshiba's corporate website. If your goal is to get a TV made by a major name brand company with a well-established customer support network, this may not be the TV for you. But if this is not a concern, read on. The Toshiba 55L711U18 is a budget 4K TV that, when it is on sale, is about the least expensive 55" TV available at the time of this review. It has a pleasingly thin bezel and minimalistic curved support legs made out of brushed metal that combine to make the make the TV look much more expensive than it's price would indicate. The fact that the stand is centered also allows the TV to be placed on furniture narrower than the TV itself. Picture quality is quite decent with good contrast and average black levels. Clouding is present, but not distracting and there was no evidence of flashlighting on the set I purchased. As long as you're not watching space battles in a pitch-black room, you're unlikely to be annoyed. Viewing angle is a different story. I purchased this set because I often watch from off-angle seating positions and it is promoted as having "178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles". For this reason, I believed the TV had to have an IPS panel. It does not. This is merely marketing jargon. The set actually has a VA panel. Most budget and midrange TVs have VA panels because they offer superior contrast and black levels to IPS panels. But they also have poor viewing angles. If you sit in front of this TV, it'll look great. But while it is indeed possible to see the Toshiba's picture from virtually any angle, colors will lose saturation and brightness when you don't view the TV from straight on. Motion blur is present and is about average for a TV with a 60hz panel. Upscaling on the Toshiba is poor. Clean 1080p video is sharp and upscales well. But lower resolution and compressed videos were grainy, with significant color noise and artifacting. If you stream a variety of content from the around the Internet, this is not the set for you. Sound quality is superior compared to similar TVs. While none of today's thin TVs have adequate space to house large speakers and won't provide any meaningful bass, the Toshiba produces pleasingly clear sound and volume levels for most small to mid-sized rooms. The inclusion of both digital audio and headphone jacks also provide great flexibility should you desire to route the sound to something else. The Toshiba 55L711U18 has an adequate number of inputs: 3 HDMI, and one composite, coax, ethernet and USB port. All are recessed on the back so mounting the set flush to the wall won't be a problem. However, the Ethernet, composite and coax inputs are mounted downward in a slot that will be quite difficult to access after the TV has been mounted. Input lag is slight, but just noticeable, so twitchy hardcore gamers may have an issue. But casual gameplay was acceptable. The remote for the Toshiba 55L711U18 provides the necessary buttons to access all the TV's functions, but has the significant flaw of not having any number buttons. As a result, channels can only be changed by scrolling up or down through them. The Toshiba 55L711U18 is not a smart TV, so there are no apps to watch things like Netflix. However, it does have Google's Chromecast, which allows you to streams apps like Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, etc. from a smartphone to the TV. The Toshiba 55L711U18 is a budget set that offers a very large display and high-end looks for a very small price. It provides good movie and average TV picture quality, though TV viewing is hampered by the subpar remote and off-angle viewing is not what the marketing copy implies. Input lag might annoy some hardcore gamers, but is acceptable for casual gameplay. Built-in sound quality is very good. A decent assortment of inputs and the inclusion of Chromecast provide the TV a useful variety of viewing sources. Heavy Internet viewers who watch videos of varying quality, hardcore gamers, and anyone who often watches off-angle may want to consider other options. But those looking for the biggest screen for the least amount of money, will be hard-pressed to find an alternative with better picture and quality.

Great Picture and Sound....But....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been 2 days. It has great picture and sound quality. But it has got some limitations too. It's a basic 4k TV with no much smart options. Pros: 1.Great picture 2.Great sound 3.Chromecast Cons: 1.I tried connecting my external HDD. Only photos displayed. None of the videos are playing. No where it is mentioned the manual about the video formats it supports. https://tvna.compal-toshiba.com/us/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/06/Toshiba_50_55L711U18_M18_17-0044_WEB_V3_EN_Final.pdf 2.And the screen brightness is very low when I connect external HDD and starts playing photos. You can't change this. 3.No app store. 4.No screen mirroring. 5.Very basic remote If you want more smart options, you can buy android tv box which costs you around $50.

Posted .Hi there,
Thank you very much for your detailed review about our 4K Chromecast Built in TV. Regarding your question about supported video formats from a USB device I wanted to let you know that this TV only supports photo viewing, it does not support video playback.
Please also note that Chromecast built-in does support screen mirroring from Android devices and it is very easy to use. Visit this site for more information about this feature:  https://www.google.com/chromecast/built-in/learn/tv/

It's a monitor not a TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box clearly says Toshiba 55" TV. Yet the remote con not select a channel. To watch Create on 58-3 and then the news on 4, I have to scroll down over 150 channels. Toshiba's do not work with a universal remote. I have to use a smart phone or have cable TV. I also can not watch prime on Chromecast. I will find a new TV with a real remote and use my blueray player for the internet content. So for me both Toshiba and Chromcast do not work!
