Personally I like RPGs and when I first saw this game’s announcement I was interested and was finally able to buy it recently. Great game overall but the game doesn’t explain gimmicks or mechanics most of the time, so it’s best to google when necessary, but overall, great game.

I loved this game on the SNES, and this remake is very well done. The downsides are the English voice acting (but you can select original Japanese voices to solve that), and unlike the original there is no multiplayer. That aside, I would recommend the remake over the original, especially when planning to play solo.

Anytime you look up "Best action JRPG's on the Nintendo Switch" this title will almost always come up. You won't find it on a top ten list or anything, but with a very simple and enjoyable combat system, different characters to choose from, easy to follow story that isn't too much, lots of play time for the money, it makes it a great starting point for anyone wanting to get into the action JRPG genre OR even better for the 90's kid trying to relive this game in an updated system with modern graphics.

I've been a fan of the Mana series since Secret of Mana on the SNES and was excited to play its sequel in the Collection of Mana, but I never expected Square-Enix to release a full 3D remake of that game not long afterwards, so this was a nice surprise! This remake looks and plays great, being very faithful to the original game. The multiple characters to pick from and branching stories are still there, giving it a lot of replay value, but it is ultimately a simple hack-n-slash RPG game. Nice additions are voice acting (which can be hit or miss), more control over character growth, additional end-game content, as well as some other extras. Definitely a worthwhile pickup.

This game is very fun, if not a bit repetitive with the combat. The graphics are pleasant and it runs very well on Switch 2

This is a modern remake of a 1995 snes game that we didn't get until last year in the collection of mana for the Nintendo switch, and it’s probably the first time many are experiencing this fantastic game. this particular version has terrible voice acting and can be quite easy but everything else about it is great from graphics to gameplay to music and story.

Trials of mana is complete remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, an action rpg from SNES era that never arrived to west until 2d mana collection and this 3d remake. While the engine in this version has been changed to totally new, the plot and lots of dungeon design as far as I remmber remains the same, in any case, it is a good quality action rpg with good battle system, interesting plot and great musics. One of the things that must be mentioned with this version, it comes with voice acting, both English and Japanese. Do NOT turn the English voice acting on! This is probably the worst voice acting I have ever heard in my life and I have heard a lot of budget anime, eastern European dubs with one monotone voice for all characters, it's still better than this, unless you want to laugh at the sheer badness of the voice actors, avoid the English dub at all costs. The game has multiple party members to select for multiple story lines and little replay value, which is kind of cool, it is a short-ish game stil, probably worth it to play through twice.

This is a remake of Secret of Mana 3, which was never given a US release until Collection of Mana. In a way, this release feels a bit redundant alongside Collection of Mana, since they're giving us almost the same game right after, but the upgraded visuals and music are nice, and the new gameplay elements help keep it feeling fresh. The English voice acting is terrible, though.

I never played the classic version of this game but I have heard it is very identical to it. Combat is pretty standard for an action RPG and battles flow in real time so no loading screens in between fights and exploring. It's not too in depth in regards to min-maxing but you get the choice when progressing which classes you want. If looking for a challenge make sure to play Hard first. Medium felt way to like a cake walk at least if you stay up to date with the equipment the game gives you. Never had to really grind as the level system seems to scale well with your characters. Post game was where it was the best for me as you can unlock your 4th class which isn't in the originals. Most objectives, if not all, are running to each main quest with very little in between. Not too many side quests other than a collectable side quest where you discover cacti around the world for boosts. I personally would not have paid full price for this game but I did get a good 40 hours in and out of my second playthrough and combined with my first. If looking for story elements you can definitely get more as each character has some decent differences in which the story progresses. Towards the end I found myself rushing through as the combat and questing got a little repetitive. I'd recommend this game and for some it's worth full price. Supporting these types of games is pretty important in today's gaming industry so I give it a 4.5/5 even though it does have a few outdated features but it's a true remake which says a lot these days.

I REALLY wanted to love this game. Highlights: -If you like kingdom hearts style action combat you may enjoy this. -Game story is faithful to the original and character interactions are enjoyable. -It can be surprisingly challenging on higher difficulty game modes -High replay-ability -Leveling system and class building is easy and fun to experiment with. Cons: -Character AI is not...the best. They like to stand in heavy damage areas. -The game is sort of a drag after a while, the main problem with action JRPGS is the bulk of the story doesn't hit until you've burned a lot of hours, but the game play makes you want to experience things as quickly as possible. -It's really grindy, visually it gets boring after you've spent a lot of time in the same area. -The game doesn't tell you but specific characters need to be selected to get the true story chain and maximum character events. Otherwise you are just playing the story of the first character selected. It's not a bad game at all, but if you are looking for something to really suck you in this may not be the best first choice. Definitely one to pick up if you are a fan of the series and want to play something while stuck in quarantine. If you are new to the franchise this is a nice intro as well, but I can see many people getting turned off by this first experience.

Trials of Mana is a solid game. It has great fighting gameplay and replay ability. The English voice acting isn’t the best and sometimes it sounds like they needed to do a few more takes to make it better. There is some rng but it is not terrible. The story is decent but it can be boring and cliche at the times. Overall if you’re a JRPG fan I would recommend picking this up.

Square Enix finally brings over a translated, remastered version of Seiken Densetsu 3 and it’s everything and more this game deserves. Like most RPGs SquareEnix puts out, the story is great and the combat works well. This is not a Secret of Mana pt. 2 but it does it’s own thing and comes into its own identity. The only complaint I had is that Trials is a little easier than the original Seiken Densetsu 3 but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.

Great game. Remake of Secret of Mana 3 which was never released here. Game features many characters and has no real one main character. You can choose who you like and meet the others as you play. This provides great replay value. Don't feel like your missing out if you only play once. you can see the bulk story of everyone if you like as you play through if you want to only once. I fully recommend this for fans of ARPGs. Its a great game that was so popular it had fan translations of it and inspired people to learn japanese just so they could play it. If you want to play the original snes/super famicom version its on collection of mana. This is a Squaresoft/SquareEnix
