Delighted in how easy to get it to work

My first time to purchase a no-contract hot spot. Got this as I was traveling for a week to my parents in CA, SFO Valley, where they had no internet. Initially I was hesitant thinking I might have difficulty configuring it, or getting good connectivity, and that I would end up wasting my money on it. But since I would desperately need the internet for work-related reasons, and that the price for the device was reasonable (at least within my budget), I thought I'd give it a try. I bought 2GB worth of load for the device. Configuring it took around 15-20 minutes; not bad for a newbie. Signal was good at my parents place so I got my work done during that week. I did mostly emailing and and sending of attachments like word documents and jpegs, for an average of 1 hour a day for 7 days. As I write this review, I still have over 1GB worth of data left until it expires end of next month. It's also easy to change the admin and wifi password, and configure number of devices to connect to it, for security purposes. I'm truly satisfied with the device.

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing, lived up to all expectations. The device maintains a long extended charge and great signal. One tip, Verizon's non-contract pre-purchase data lasts two months, so plenty of time to use.

Downloads much faster than my phone service

I bought this for a trip and didn't expect much. It works amazingly well. The data is a bit expensive (starts out at $20 for 2 GB) but if you are only going to be using it a little bit, it's well worth it when travelling. It would be too expensive to use regularly. There is also a time limit for the data you do buy. We were inside a mall and since sometimes phones tend to load slower in a mall, I expected no better results from this. This loaded faster than our phones do at any location and downloaded immediately with no hesitation. You can link multiple devices and it requires a password to use. It's small and sturdy and has a small screen that shows the power. It says that it will show you how much data you have left but it always gives the message that the information is not available. I did get an email everyday though telling me how much data was left.

I use the Verizon MiFi for my business. Primarily when I am traveling but also occasionally for my home office. It gets a good signal and is easy to connect my devices to (via WiFi).

decent WiFi Hotspot via VZW network

This is a WiFi hotspot for VZW cellular network. Made by Franklin, which I find much more reliable than the more common Netgear variety. I've had several hotspots made by Netgear on various cell networks. All failed around a year or earlier, and were flaky in operation. This Franklin Hotspot has been reliable thus far ( several months), but it is the 3rd I've owned. The 1st failed after 9 months when the external antenna contacts failed (I use external antennas in remote areas). 2nd unit just died without warning. No operation problems with any of them until failure, unlike Netgear units I've had which were all very erratic and flaky. I would rate this unit 5 stars if not for being the 3rd unit I've purchased in 2 yrs.. but this is typical of all the portable WiFi hotspots I've tried so far. Maybe 3rd time will be the charm and last a while. Operation is as expected, but the built in antennas are not particularly sensitive. If you live in poor cell signal or rural areas, you may want to buy external antennas or docking station...but beware of very fragile external antenna contacts. Battery performance has been excellent. I can often go 2 days (10-12 hrs) with light use before recharging. The small monochrome LCD screen is functional, but can be difficult to read in bright light. Not a big deal, as all parameters are available by monitoring the router config/admin page (as you would any router), via standard web interface. Hotspot recharges through a USB cable & charger (included), and is capable of USB tethering through same cable/port. Router functions are extensively configurable via usual web interface. In summary, it's a decent performing VZW WiFi portable 4G LTE hotspot for internet on the go.

This was a fantastic purchase. Best Buy had a great price on this product, as they do on most of their products. I needed to have Wifi when I was away for a week but didn't want to pay a monthly fee for internet, so I bought this mobile product and can use prepaid data minutes when I need them. Great purchase!

Love this hotspot. Very small and very pocket friendly. Speeds are good enough for streaming netflix. Verizon prepaid price is a tad bit expensive compared to other providers. Signal strength is good.

The hot spot did what I needed it to do. I was without the internet due to a storm in Michigan on 3/8.I work from home so I needed Wifi. I wasn't downloading movies or playing games so the speed was great for my needs.

We were travelling, and needed a hotspot with us so we could work on the road. we ran two laptops and two mobile phones off the hotspot for basic data crunching (spreadsheets, accessing documents in the cloud, etc.) and the device worked like a champ. Our only complaint was the price of the plans. With so many companies offering unlimited data, you would think a company as large as Verizon could offer a better price.

Attempted to activate twice on-line only to be told there is a problem - call later or call the 800 number. Called the 800 number and kept getting out on infinite hold. Finally after the 4th call was able to get a tech who also was unable to activate the device because they were unable to charge my credit card. Called credit card company..... no problems with my -0- balance $22,000 credit limit card. Called Verizon again, unable to activate due to some Java issue they were having. Finally the next day (my last planned call) the nice lady was able to get me up and running. Device works pretty well, faster than I expected. If you can deal with Verizon's baloney it should work for you.

I purchased this one after I tried another prepaid box through another carrier. That one did not work. We used this when we went camping because our cell doesn't get coverage there. This worked like it was supposed to.

I live in the country where no internet service comes out and I was never able to get Wi-Fi! Until this bad boy. 5 stars because: 1.awesome signal no matter where I am. 2. Restarts itself if it gets too hot (when you accidentally leave it on all day) 3. Allows me to be in complete control. 4. Battery life lasts 1.5 days being connected to 2-3 devices all day. 6. Strong little device- I've dropped it in water, on concrete, on gravel, on hard wood floors and it's still kickin.

Easy to set up, surfs the net at great speed. But, we bought this to, hopefully, replace an older 3G item from adifferent carrier. Easy setup and great net speed, but, this will not be realistic to use; the first evening we used it, it consumed more data in about 1/2 hour of normal net surfing than the previous 3G item had in a little over two weeks.

Super low price on the hotspot itselft. The Verizon pay as you go plans are not the cheapest, but their coverage was best where I was using it. It was fairly easy to activate with Verizon and has a reasonably good connection for most purposes. I was using this to do a demo of Google Home and Echo Dot devices and they would sometimes time out and not give a response, so if you need a hotspot for real time applications or streaming, this might not be the best choice, but for normal e-mail and browsing it works fine.

I love this hotspot. It took a little longer that I thought to set it up. But it wasn't hard to set up. Once I got it set up, I was able to change the wifi name and password to something I could remember. Then you use it just like the wifi in your home except you can take anywhere. Verizon service is great. You can also manage your account through the website they give in the instructions.
