Decent for the price, but horrible remote signal
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to purchase this last minute for a home office setup (I work in producing/editing/AV), and was excited to get a Vizio for such a great deal, especially since I have Samsung everywhere else in the house, and this would have the Smartcast features and access to Peacock (which Samsung does not support). My first experience was with HORRIBLE sound quality, and I had to return the item. It was the worst sound I've ever heard, like a McDonald's drive thru whenever anyone spoke, and it was clearly a defective item. I returned, and Best Buy was great about opening and testing the second product with me in the store to be sure it didn't have the same issue. Sound was fine. Now, I've noticed what is apparently a known problem with this model....EXTREME lag in the remote signal. I turn the TV on, and it takes 10+ seconds to respond and boot up. If you're not paying attention, you'll think you didn't hit the button or point it at the receiver straight on enough, but nope, you did, it's just lagging. I have to remember to hit the power button ONCE, then if nothing happens within 10-15 seconds try it again, otherwise a second hit will just be powering it off. It seriously takes forever. Additionally, the volume button in conjunction with the built-in Vizio streaming apps is ridiculous. As we know, sound bounces around on many streaming platforms, the opening scenes will be quiet, then the title sequence will kick in and blast you, and if you're trying to be mindful of noise for neighbors or those you live with, you want to be able to quickly control the volume. Well, NOPE! Same issue with the remote lag is that it doesn't read volume ups and downs, and will take even longer (20-30 seconds sometimes) to read and change. You end up having to mute, because for whatever reason that works faster, until the remote signal catches up to how many times you hit the volume up or down buttons. The issue is discussed by many people upon a quick google search and supposedly it resolves itself if you buy a Roku or an Apple TV to use those higher quality apps instead to stream, but it's pretty disappointing to find out on your second TV of this model, you have to take it back again, or just buy a secondary streaming device. I am keeping the TV because picture quality is fine, the price is what I can afford at the moment on short notice for my job, and I don't want the hassle of hauling another one back to the store, I seriously don't have time for that. But wanted to make this issue known for others. If you already have an Amazon Fire, a Roku, or an Apple TV you plan to use, then this TV will be a great option, and the smartcast feature is really nice to have when connecting other devices, such as ipads, laptops, and HBO Max (must be powered by a phone app and cast), so there are definitely still some pros.

Good Picture, Bad Sound
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality on mine was really bad at times (vibrating, muffled noises.... when there was background music it vibrated so much that the dialog was hard to hear). Not sure if this was a problem with my just my set or it was designed with cheap speakers. Picture quality was really nice and I like the apps. I would have liked to keep the TV if it werent for the sound, but the sound quality is a deal breaker. The TV was lightweight and a perfect size. Very good picture quality, espeically for the price point. The only other issue was the navigation was tough to use, poorly designed...15 options that you have to scroll thru by clicking the input button.

Good value, audio syncing problem, limited apps
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the cheapest 40" 4K HDR TV I found that includes Dolby Vision. The feature set is incredible, given that it includes both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, which are the two dynamic HDR formats. It's rare that a TV would support both, at any price. I was looking at 40-inch models only because this was going into a bedroom, not the living room. The big caveat is that this TV isn't capable of doing much with those formats because it's not anywhere near bright enough to make HDR source material pop. To experience HDR video properly requires a TV that can display huge brightness ranges within the same image or sequence. Cheap TVs aren't good enough for HDR even if they technically support the formats. "Cheap" here means roughly under $500, maybe $600. At that price point, you start to get TVs good enough to deliver meaningful HDR. The problem is that there are no TVs of that quality in the 40-inch size class. Good TVs are generally only manufactured in 55-inch and larger sizes, with some outliers in the 49 or 43-inch classes. So my decision to buy it was more a "might as well" decision to get a TV that supported these formats over one that didn't if they were the same price or if it was only a $10-20 difference. Also, this 40-inch Vizio was replacing a 32-inch Samsung 720p TV that had glitchy and super-slow Smart TV software (Samsung's Tizen OS), so 4K and at least theoretical HDR were a big upgrade, along with a much snappier Smart TV platform (Vizio's SmartCast OS). So far it's a decent improvement in image detail over the Samsung, and it's nice to see 4K HDR source material now on Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, etc. Before were presumably getting a 1080p stream, which the TV downscaled to 720p. I can't tell yet if broadcast HDTV looks better. I have an antenna and get lots of channels. Some broadcast networks are 720p, while others are 1080i, and I wonder if the 1080i signals will look better on a 4K TV than on a 720p TV. The one problem so far is that audio is out of sync with video on Amazon Prime. I've tested it with different kinds of content and it doesn't seem to matter. Both legacy HD TV shows like Unforgettable and new Amazon 4K HDR shows like Bosch have the audio syncing problem. I'm still researching and troubleshooting it. I've tried changing a couple of audio settings. I changed "TV Speakers" from Auto to On, and I changed "Digital Audio Out" from Auto to PCM. The latter step I got from Vizio's Support website. Neither has worked. I might try changing "Digital Audio Out" to Digital (the three options are Auto, PCM, and Digital). The problem only seems to happen in the Amazon Prime app. Netflix seems okay, though there might be a very subtle syncing problem there too – I need to test it more to make sure. App selection is probably a net loss compared to the Samsung. We lost both the Sling TV and HBO Max apps. We gained Peacock. Not having Sling is a big hit since we subscribe to it (our main TV in the living room is a TCL Roku TV, so now we can only watch Sling in the living room). We also subscribe to HBO Max, so losing that app is a bummer. However, we get it through Hulu, and we can watch it in the Hulu app. The problem is that the Hulu app is one of the worst streaming apps, and the HBO interface within Hulu is awful – unbelievably, there is no search function within the HBO interface. I probably wouldn't have bought the TV if I had known that there was no Sling app on Vizio. I didn't think to check exactly which apps are available. I'd probably rather have Sling support than Dolby Vision, since the TV isn't good or bright enough to leverage Dolby Vision in a noticeable way.

Cheap TV
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are broke, Vizio's entry-level is a good option. If you can afford a few hundred more, I would highly recommend getting Samsung/LG/Sony. I had both and it was just a night and day difference in UI and screen quality.

Be cautious about buying this TV. Scetchy returns
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture and sound is the only reason for the 3 stars. They are both very good. This TV worked so good for the first couple of weeks. My issue is that I have to frequently reset the TV because it freezes or will not turn on at all its just a gray screen. I wouldn't mind it if this was a rare occurrence but its not. Now before i set down to watch TV i wait and see if its actually going to respond to the remote or if i have to reset the thing first. Its annoying to say the least. What is really annoying is the 15 day return rule. With a purchase as this or any large purchase the return window should be more than 15 days. Considering the TV worked fine for the return time but started acting up not long after the chance of return ended. Sadly I've noticed this is a common thing at most stores. Works perfect until the return time ends.

so so TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible viewing angle, overall 4k tv has great picture, but while viewed at even a slight angle to the side it's picture washes out worse than any I've see in a few years. I will be adding more budget to get a better TV I guess.

Good TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good TV for the price. Nice features and menus but I still find I like the LG’s picture quality a little bit more. It’s not a bad buy at all but if you can spare a little more go for the LG or entry level samsung

Porr Vizio Screen Viewing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My chief negative comment about this product is about the color saturation/resolution at an oblique angle. That is, when viewing the screen at a 45 degree or greater angle, the color saturation/depth on the picture looks washed out compared to viewing the screen dead-on (90 degree or perpendicular angle) up to a 45 degree angle. I don't know if all Vizio tv's are made this way, but I would not buy one again. I have owned a non-smart Vizio tv in the past and I did not have this problem with washed out screen appearance at any angle.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried this TV for a week. It was going in the bedroom and the perfect size. I liked the appearance and interface of the display. Set up and the remote were easy to navigate. The biggest problem was the sound. I had read the other reviews noting this but since it was going in the bedroom, I didn't need the sound to be overly loud. The sound quality was bad even for a smaller space. It sounded like I was constantly in a tunnel and I could not get it to sound clear with any setting. Since I wasn't willing to add a sound bar, I returned it.

A gamer TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV mainly to play Xbox Series and watch some movies. It works well. It isn't an amazing machine. Just works well. In my opinion it deserve the amount that I paid for this. And, if you want to know if this reach 4K, yes it does.

Speakers are LOUSY!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am giving it a rating of 3 due to the tv's speakers. They sound terrible!!!! I've tried recommendations from Vizio's forum and support page but the audio sounds muffled. As to the rest of the tv, it's great for the price but now I need to search for some really good external speakers.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Visio implementation of android tv lacks the ability to load new apps via the play store, other than that, works pretty well, especially considering I primarily use it as my extra monitor for my laptop and my Surface

Underwhelmed
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two LG TVs and needed to replace an old TV. I reviewed ratings for this TV and decided to purchase it. As soon as the TV was connected by Geek Squad, I immediately saw the difference between my LG and Vizio. I asked Geek Squad to repack the TV. The picture quality was not on par with my LG TV. If you are looking for depth of color, this TV is not for you. If you're looking for an inexpensive TV and color quality is not very important, this is the TV for you.

Smart TV not so smart
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really like the TV quality but the speaker quality is bad. Have to have a sound bar to get good sound which is an extra cost. Luckily the cost wasn't too.
