Great Potential, Disappointing Execution

I hate to give 3 stars, but it really symbolizes a missed opportunity.
Purchased to replace a 10 year old system. Important criteria for the replacement, and how does it score:
1) Bluetooth and mobile phone connectivity. Score = 3. Works most of the time, but too often answering or placing a mobile phone call through the system resulted in a dropped call, no connection, or static despite the mobile phone 7 feet from the base and 5 bars signal strength on the mobile phone.
2) Download of mobile phone-book. Score = 4. Works perfect for newer phones. Forget any sync with older phones. Phone-book works very well and very quickly with Caller ID (unlike a previous generation that I tried).
3) Audio quality that meets or exceeds my current system. Score = 3. Limited tonal range and volume, but reasonably clear. The old cordless phone sounds nearly as good as a corded handset, but this VTech doesn't come close.
4) Quiet Mode that affects all handsets simultaneously rather than individually. Score = 4. Great that all phones can be silenced from one phone (unlike other manufacturers). However, a specific duration in hours of Quiet (12 max) must be explicitly entered each time.
4) Handset usability. Score = 2. Many complaints that the LCD isn't readable. This is partially true. The contrast and readability from a straight on perspective is greatly reduced. The screen can be easily read only when the top of the handset is tilted away from you, a very unnatural orientation. The handset is long, so when placing in the lightweight charging base it is easy to tip over the base or move the base on the table.
6) Handset range. Score = 4. Worked well throughout my large house. The old phone works out to the mailbox, and this struggled a bit to match that range.

Love that there were 3 handsets with 3 chargers, very handy. I don't like that I can't delete multiple missed calls, have to do delete them one at a time.

Since I do not have a land line any longer this is incredibly useful as I can walk in the door and the Bluetooth will immediately pick up and latch onto the house phones. Line sounds clear. Sure there can be improvements but oh well

I like the design and blue lighting. We always had green lit phones. Anyway, the connection and features are good and easy to use. This phone is convenient.

Need to use a headset? Forget it.

I bought this phone. I have no major complaints with the phone itself. It generally works well. But I picked it largely because of the Bluetooth feature. I do a lot of phone conferences from home, need to be able to use a headset, and was looking forward to ditching the wired headset I'd been using with my old VTech phone. Figured a phone that supported Bluetooth would support Bluetooth headsets. Hey, there's no headset jack on the phone, so that must mean that the headset solution is Bluetooth, right? Well, no. I just discovered (some months after buying the phone and having just received a BT headset for Christmas) that this model supports BT cell phones ONLY. Not headsets. And since there is no jack, I can't go back to the wired headset. What was VTech thinking? And go ahead and try to find the "Bluetooth device compatibility list" that VTech recommends you consult on their website--it's not there. I'm not happy.
If you need to use a headset, you need to look for a different phone.
