This is my third WD My Book external hd. As always, all I need to do is plug it in and it is ready to use.

I purchased this to increase the storage capacity of my Xbox one. I made it as my primary storage device (rather than use the internal hard drive). Its just as fast as the internal hd in my opinion, but I haven't performed any measurement tests. It's not at all noisy and very quiet. Though it is a bit pricey, it's a worthy investment if you plan on keeping your X1 for a while and build a library of games and apps. I should note that this hard drive is also quite durable. I've accidentally knocked it over a few times and it just continues to work without skipping a beat. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to increase their x1's capacity. I have not tested this with a of or Mac. But I'd suspect it'd perform more than adequately.

Been using Western Digital for a number of years now. As a photographer I appreciate the lowering costs of increased storage. Capacity-wise this is the largest hard drive I've purchased and it works like a charm. Quiet when plugged in...was working seconds out of the packaging. Sturdy and reliable.

I researched hardrives for a few days trying to find the best external Hardrive. This unit has an ac power adapter. I read that they require more power than the USB but in return you get faster loading times especially with digital games that are saved on the hardeive. It automatically goes into a hibernating mode when it detects the XBOX has been turned off. I originally bought the 4tb but I wanted to be future proof as I do like to have a lot of digital games. So I went back and ordered the 6tb because none of the stores carry the 6tb. You could only get them by ordering them but that's not a problem because it came 2 days later.

This drive exceeded what I needed to backup my music and photo collections. I was looking at the WD 4TB model when I noticed this drive on sale for a $100.00 off the regular price, so I had to get this one. I own two other WD drives, but I needed more storage space. This drive works as great as my other two drives still do. I have used WD internal and external hard drives for over 20 years without issue. I would definitely recommend WD hard drives over any other brand at any price.

I purchased this drive to expand the capacity of storage of my XBOX One. I'm glad I did. It's very easy to install, and it is very quick. At 6 terabytes of storage, I should have enough room for quite a while.

We use several WD My Book systems at work for backups - mostly 3 and 4 TB drives. However we bought a Seagate 5 TB and we were deeply disappointed in the performance. Probably 2-3 TIMES SLOWER than the WD My Books. So bought a WD My Book 6 TB and found the performance like the other My Books. Very Pleased!

This was exactly what I needed for all my music / photos. It works perfect as my backup drive. Easy to install and has all the memory that I will ever need. I have other WD external drives and they are very dependable. Got a great price at our best buy store in Mt. Laurel NJ.

Large capacity, easy to use and setup. I use this to back up a server with about 480 GB of data and it works flawlessly. Would recommend this to everyone with a need for a large backup hard drive.

I've been using WD MyBooks since a few years now and they are a great choice not only in capacity and price but they are also the reliable option to keep family movies and photos library

At first I was very disappointed at the spin up time this drive required when accessing via LAN. After some quick google and message board browsing, I found that I needed to disable the SLEEP mode that is active by default. If you are using this drive to do a one-time back up, you can leave this as is. However, I am using this for photos that are repeatedly accessed over the network and the SLEEP mode caused browsing the archives a chore. Once this mode was disabled this drive performed flawlessly and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

The drive does what it's supposed to do. The only issue is , like all MyBook drives, it takes time for them to wake up. Once it's responds, it acts like a an internal drive. The Segate drives, don't seem to have this issue.

Drive is super quiet, setup was a breeze. The price was unbeatable for 6TB of storage. I am using it to backup my Synology NAS. So this was perfect.

The setup was easy and quick. It takes both Apple and Microsoft with is good for me as I have both. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody looking for hard storage facility

Was looking for a portable drive to have off site backups on. This fit the bill. Bought it on sale so it was an even better deal. Works great and I've always had great success with WD drives.

Since I have been computing I have only used WD hard drives. I have knocked these off of a shelf while they were copying. I have accidentally stepped on them during a build. When some of my other electronics were damaged from a lightning surge my WD drives were fine. They are simply bullet proof storage when you need it.

Lots of storage space plus easy to use backup software. Protect your assets and data.
