Good value for the money. Can hold alot of data. A must have.

That's right - SHUCK it.. I did. Pulled that puppy right out it's external case- (like an ear of corn) and with a tiny modification I was able to use this as a very cost effective internal drive.

Based on the reviews I have read about it being "noisy" or "loud", I decided to give it a go anyway, because an external hard drive could not be any louder than what I have volume wise on the TV in the room. Let me tell you, it is a VERY light hum like noise. It isn't loud, it isn't obnoxious. The vibrate feel they may be talking about? My house is not shaking, and the items on my desk are not moving around.. so, I believe we have a lot of people who like to over exaggerate the slight hum and the slight vibrate. Overall, as a Mac user, it was easy to install and was pleased that the iMac was able to recognize that it needed to be reformatted, and did that for me automatically. I would highly recommend this product, especially if you were like me, and had to buy a new iMac because your old MacBook Pro has decided to go into retirement, and realize that 500GB isn't a lot of room for someone who uses it for graphic design purposes.. which as you would know, takes up A LOT of space over time.

Fast and dense storage, great for the money. I bought 2 so I can have an offsite backup.

So far, so good. Time will be the ultimate test, but this was incredibly easy to set up and is serving its purpose well. There are perks to automate some cloud storage and whatnot, and the price was just right! Here’s hoping it will last as long as I need it to.

We all know that data expands to fill the space available. I was running short of space. I plugged this 8tb drive into my Windows 7-64bit PC and did not have to do anything else. I worked without any problems. It reused my same drive letter of my older 2tb drive so I didn't even have to change my backup software.

this wd backup storage works great for pc's but doesnt work as expected for macs due to their own built in backup called time machine.

This is a great backup drive, high capacity, great price.

Works perfectly however makes an odd clicking noise every couple mins. Also not a huge fan of the fact that you have to plug into a wall outlet. However it was the only big external available. Works good just not my first choice and it's very loud for an external hard drive.

I have been a fan of the WD "my book" single drive product line for a while. I have had nothing but trouble with their array products but the single drives work well) This drive was no exception. plugged it in and it just worked (PC) it's fast, and it stores files. kind of what you expect a hard drive to do. The price point was the attractive thing. Unbelievable for an eight TB drive!
