Bought the MyBook 8tb and couldn’t get it to reformat on my MacBook Pro. Exchanged for this one. Plugged it in and it was good to go!

Pretty happy with this device at the price point I paid. (On sale.. gift cards..). Performance seems adequate and it's pretty quiet. I didn't really run a lot of benchmarks since this is just an archive device for me and won't be used to run applications from.

I purchased this for backup of a large amount of media files I have accumulated over the years 4plus Terabytes worth. Now I have even more room to grow. this will serve my purpose for years to come. If u want large storage capacity this is your best choice. Fast write speeds as this is USB 3. Highly recommended.

A few issues getting this set up with my MacBook Pro - but now it works like a dream. Feeling very confident with the TimeMachine backups - no concerns about running out of storage space. This is a great purchase!

I keep buying these WD externals because they keep on working so well. I've been buying WD for years and will continue to do so. They are quiet, solid, cool-looking yet discreet on the desktop or bookshelf. I hope WD keeps making them just like this.

Using this drive to backup files from the desktop and store movies. The size is amazing! So far I have not had any WD drives fail on me, but that is always a concern. If you are storing important files, do not use any non-mirrored configuration as your sole back-up option. WD has mirrored options for those configurations, but as usual, cost goes up.

This is a great option for anyone who needs more memory space. I use it for extended memory for my PS4, and it works flawlessly.

I use this on my Xbox One X as my mass storage for games that I don't play as often. It is a little noisier than my old 4TB MyBook, but nothing that would distract from a movie. Load times are on par with the internal drive, and I use a separate 512GB SSD external for faster loads. WD drives have never let me down, and I expect this to last for many years to come.

works fine. Does not even get warm. Reasonably fast. Not noisy. It has a large case with lots of ventilation. I have noticed that Seagate externals are about 3 times more likely to fail on arrival. I have never had a failure of a Western Digital hard drive. Note that I stood up the case without blocking the ventilation holes

The WD - My Book 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black, has just the right amount of storage capacity for my needs. As a photographer, I require a LOT of storage for my files. I wanted to have plenty of storage for future needs and this one fills the bill. It's also fast with data transfers thanks to it's USB 3.0.

This external storage device is great for extending the capacity of your PC without problems of future migrations to a new PC. It can be added to your cloud back giving you added protection.

We all know HDD ISNT as fast as SSD. But this is a solid backup drive for keeping all my wedding, family, anything photography session wise on, it absolutely does what I bought it for. Space. I wish it didn’t need its own plug on my power strip, but I’ll live.
