Works very well with my MacBook Pro. I have a ton of photos, music and documents that if lost would be devastating. This drive backs up my data quickly. It's also very small and lightweight, making it easy to transport. Works very well with Apple's Time Machine software.

I purchased the WD - My Passport for Mac 500GB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Silver. Plugged it in and it practically did the rest. So easy to use. No reservations about recommending this product. I bought one for my technology challenged sibling. Backed up my Mac in no time. Plenty of storage for my 11 years worth of photos and documents.

This product was recommended to me by a Best Buy agent. I was looking for a reasonably priced external hard drive that would give me peace of mind. The Apple branded product was much higher priced and didn't offer anything additional. Very easy to use even for a technology challenged person like me!

I purchased this portable hard drive to replace my older model that died on me. They updated the connection this hard drive uses to the new USB 3.0 technology. Definitely leading the way as I hadn't seen this style connector before. The unit boots fasts and serves as a time capsule for my Macbook Pro.

good product at fair price. solid performance have several of these for many years. transfer speed gets better, capacity increases, needs to keep up with computers. these get the job done. no worry about cloud.

Hard drive went out on my laptop. Rather than purchase a new laptop I purchased external hard drive and save significant $$. Very pleased with my decision and the product.

This drive was easy to use and a great value. It was plug and play and quickly copied the contents of my Mac; 40k pictures and 4 years of files.

While on vacation, camping, our Air laptop said "Start up disk is full." Panic! How to continue to download our daily pics/videos into our Air? What to do. Went to B. Buy in NH. Sales rep said the Passport is easy to use, but he could not guide me unless I pd for Geek Support. I'd come for Apple support, but the Apple person never arrived. Store did not know his hrs.Bought the item. Took it to c.ground. P.C. user tried to help me. No success. Once bk home, tk it to our Apple guru. He used it easily, moving our pics into this HD. I'm in the process of deleting lesser value pics/videos, so that guru can place our pics bk into our Air. For us, frustrating, w/o help.

Very happy with speed and performance of this little drive. It fits perfectly in a Pelican Mini case for protection.

This is actually the second time we've purchased a My Passport for Mac--and we're still using both. Simple to use, just plug it in--no set up is required which is sometimes the case with other manufactures. Actually, in the 2 years since we got the first I think the quality has gone up a bit, and the price has gone down. We got the 500GB only because we didn't need more. Would highly recommend this external drive.
