How is this work and used? I bought it to back up my files.

I bought this when our daughter's laptop died just before finals to transfer the contents of her hard drove to a replacement computer. She now uses it for file backup so that recovery is much easier in the future. Tip: when selecting a laptop, know that it is much easier to recover files from a hard disk drive than a solid-state drive. If you have a computer with a solid state drive, be careful to back up all the files regularly in case the computer dies (i.e. bad motherboard). This device is easy to use as a backup drive. (Not as easy as a network backup drive but adequate for personal use.)

I wanted a portable hard drive to serve as a backup to the one I have now. The Passport has a 500gb capacity which was the size I had wanted and was reasonably priced at Best Buy . It is a bit smaller than my earlier hard drive in physical size and is plug and play pretty much. I use these drives as storage for photos videos and documents and the Passport fills the bill perfectly.

my passport external hard drives are the only brand I use they have never failed and are dependable I have documents and photos of my family there are movies and what I like I can veiw or play on my smart tv the one I recently purchased was 500 mb they also have a one terabyte that is a lot of room for whatever you need

My second WD, works good, easy to use, reccommend for storage of photos and videos as I have had two laptops fail and lost the contents of family photos/Videos

Bought this external HD to clone a desktop computer. The hard drive worked well for the cloning. Also the drive is well built, small and light yet still allows for 500gigs.

This is the drive recommended by Geek Squad to save data from an old no longer functioning PC. I did that job and I am now using it to store excess data from new PC.

I gave it five starts because so far I haven't had any problems with these drives. I purchase about 10 drives per month for my work and this is the only brand for portables without problems.
