I really wanted to like this receiver. Ascetically it’s beautiful. And when it’s working everything works great. But I run into issues every day when trying to switch between my series x and Apple TV4K. And today my hdmi out quit working. Best Buy doesn’t have anything in stock to do an exchange. Waited an hour on hold with Yamaha to figure out I have to wait 3-5 business days for a box to send my receiver back (another 3-5 days) then wait who knows how long to get my receiver back. Considering returning it.

Love this unit but now i have to buy real speakers. Polk audio signature series completely sounds like im listening through a paper bag. Need JBL Centuries L100s

1 year later and still no HDMI 2.1 bug fix. If you have a next gen console and want 4K 120fps avoid this AVR until Yamaha fixes the hardware. Yes not software - hardware. The functionality was originally promised to come via a future software update. However, Yamaha came forward and announced that it will now take a hardware upgrade to achieve 4K 120fps. The upgrade program was announced to start the fall of 2021. Its 11/11/21 and I still haven’t received the invite to mail in this AVR to get it fixed/upgraded.

This was a purchase of an open box. The reason for return was an intermittent sound problem that the technicians could not replicate, sold as new with discount, full warranty. I bought it and have had continuing intermittent sound loss. This is a broad problem with this model number according to reports on the internet. At 2 years, it is unbearable. Yamaha is assisting with factory warranty. I will be without the unit for estimated 2 weeks for repairs. Yamaha will not replace with better designed product or assist with discount on new purchase to keep a customer. Take you chances with Yamaha. A lot of problems for a several hundred dollar unit.

We needed this item to upgrade our capacity and capability. It’s served to do both of these things. The reputation of the manufacturer is totally warranted and we could not be more satisfied
