Yamahas website showed there would be a patch this september to enable 120hz and 4k so I purchased. Its not November and I havent hesrd anything. They just tell me to check back in a few weeks. The system sounds great except it often will cut audio or it takes a few seconds for audio to kick in after starting a show. Very annoying but not a deal breaker I guess. Very unhappy about the update not being out yet. Would suggest another receiver at this time.

This replaced and older Yamaha receiver. So far, it’s a seamless transition. Easy setup, though the functionality is cumbersome. 4K pass through worked very well

Love that my entire home entertainment system has been programmed through the Yamaha receiver; Great sound quality that simulates being in a movie theater; Replaced my Yahama receiver purchased back in 1995 and the advances in technology are amazing!

A decent receiver with ONE BIG CATCH. It has 7 hdmi 2.1 ports but they are currently the same ports that are borked from 2020. Yamaha did say they will do a motherboard swap for all of these free of charge the autumn but what they didn’t say is that it won’t be the full fat 48gbps band hdmi 2.1, it will be half of that (https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1629971809).
That won’t work for Xbox series x or pc gaming.

The sound is easily as good or better than anything out there in this price range and this level. Have tried several brands over quite a few years, but in the end I always end up back at Yamaha.

Needs an app for Bluetooth. It’s super easy to install and works great! We are using it for a in wall home stereo system, it works for that and also a tv setup.

I bought this in “open box - excellent” condition and the remote didn’t work which was a bummer. Yamaha took care of it and within a week I had it up and running and hooooooooo baby does it sound so sweet.

So far this is working amazingly well with all the speakers I got for the surround sound system we are using the theater room. Best decision I have made can not wait to have friends and family over.

The specifications and the features make this unit worth considering if you can find one. Units in this price range are scarce probably do to chips in short supply.
The settings are very numerous and the manual (online) is extensive. Very happy with it.
Disappointed; very unreliable HDMI switching/video

Like most folks, I really wanted to like this AVR--it had very positive reviews, and some industry "experts" praised it as being the best option in his price range. And while it produced amazing sound, the HDMI switching between video inputs was unbearably slow; often, it wouldn't even produce any video at all.
It was frustrating to use my PS4, as the HDMI switching often just produced a blank screen. And the few times it was able to connect to the PS4 HDMI port, it would constantly ask me to reset the HDR parameters on the TV.
I tested my older unit to make sure the TV isn't the issue (LG 90 series Nanocell), and the old Pioneer was quick and immediate with the HDMI switching.
Ultimately, it became too frustrating and I took it back to BBY and picked up an Pioneer Elite--haven't looked back.
