    Cons Outweigh the Pros

I used the Zagg Pro Stylus to draw in Procreate, Adobe Sketch, and Notes, but unfortunately I found that it doesn’t deliver the quality I expected. The tilt recognition attempts to emulate pressure sensitivity that is possible in drawing apps. In order to vary the width of the stroke, the user must tilt gradually rather than apply light or hard pressure to get a thin or thick line. The exclusion of pressure sensitivity alone on a ‘pro’ stylus is a huge con for me. The lack of pressure detection may have docked this a few stars, but the real hindrance was the constant breaking of a drawn line. The more I tilt, the more the line skips and breaks. This device works better as a regular stylus despite it being marketed to work well with Apple Pencil Apps for designing and drawing. The Pros: This package includes an extra nib. No bluetooth pairing required. The stylus has a flat edge that allows for easy magnetic storage on the iPad. Charging takes a reasonable time and is made possible with the included USB-C cable. It features a capacitive backend tip for scrolling/selecting. The design/color looks very nice. Unfortunately, the Pros are lost with the underwhelming performance of the key features and are far outweighed by the Cons. While it’s nice to get an extra nib, I found that the initial nib made a lot of skips and the second nib skipped less, but even one break in a line ruins that particular brush stroke. Drawing a single stroke to achieve a thicker or thinner line wasn’t always easy. On many brush types, when the tilt recognition was activated, it was either a thin line or a thick line at the tilt, no in between. This device must be turned on and off with the button or risk depleting the battery if left on. It will only charge via the charging cable. Day 1, I accidentally left it on, so Day 2 started off with a dead stylus. The instructions fail to discuss the stylus’s button: - Single press will turn the stylus on (you’ll see the white indicator light go from dim to bright) - Long press will turn the stylus off (you’ll see the white indicator light start bright then dim) - There is a button combination that will flash green or orange, I assume to indicate battery life, but I don’t know how to recreate that indication with certainty If you’re a digital artist, I would not recommend this. Until the nib or pen performance stops breaking a drawn line, artists cannot use this stylus to draw seamlessly.

Finally a stylus that does everything. In general your have the cheap ones that are fine for touch navigation, but fail at writing and drawing. At the other end of the spectrum is the Uber expensive apple stylus with palm rejection and pressure sensitivity, that’s fine for productivity and art, but can’t do the work of a cheap pointer. Lastly are the Wacom products that are mediocre at both. This new Zagg stylus accomplishes both jobs well simply because it has two tips. In addition it can attach magnetically to the iPad Pro although it can’t charge that way. The USB-C charging port is exposed by pulling up on the cap. Well designed and executed. Why did this take so long?

I thought about getting an Apple Pencil but I read the reviews on this one and decided to save my money. It is a great dupe! It works just like and has all the functions of an Apple Pencil plus an amazing battery life! Has worked great with my iPad for note taking!

Pen connected immediately without issue. Definitely would recommend over the high price apple pen. Only big difference if that you have to charge it with USB-C but it has a very good battery life

I enjoy the product. It works very well but the tips I will say are very cheaply made they fell on my kitchen, modern wood floor, and the top of the stylus broke within two weeks of me using the product. Had the most trouble trying to get a replacement but outside of that I love the product

I like this stylus. (Pressure sensitivity wasn't important for me.) The broad end can be used for scrolling. USB-C port is covered; just slide the end up and charge. Red light indicates charging and goes off when charging is complete. I wish the quick start instructions provided more information battery indicator lights - and turning it off and on. I've found that the power button requires more than a quick press - hold for a second of two. Turning off requires that you hold the power button until a white light comes on and then fades. I'm not always sure if I've turned it off. Overall I've been please with the purchase.

Excellent little device. Works very well with my iPad. Charges fast and has a long life before y a charge again. Much better price than the Apple Pencil too. Very happy with it.

Nice stylus. Unlike an actual Apple Pencil, the eraser won’t work on my app I use it for, but the tip will act as an eraser. I’d buy it again if necessary. I added grip because of my neuropathy.

Bought this as the apple pencil was too expensive for my liking. Absolutely love it. Feels premium, has a good weight to it, and holds a charge for a long time.

I bought both, the Apple Pencil and this Zagg one because it was on sale. The Apple Pencil is being returned and it has nothing to do with pricing. The Zagg Stylus is smoother to use in day-to-day life. It is also made out of an easier to grip material. The end of the Zagg Pencil is actually sharper than Apple’s. I would recommend having a screen protector on the iPad but I’m not sure if it’s truly needed. The Zagg Pencil beats the Apple Pencil in every single category and is cheaper? Great design by Zagg!

This is a happy tradeoff to the Apple Pencil and price. I am not a heavy pencil user. It has to be charged via a USB-C adapter. However as I am not a heavy use, those charging events will be far and in between. I can still attach magnetically if needed. My chosen case only comes with the slot for the pencil. With the pencil in the slot the case's edge is swishy/ impacted. The added bonus: the Zagg stylus is dark grey and black... much better color coordinated with the case.

This is a great, less expensive alternative to the Apple Pencil 2. I love the color since it matches my Space Gray iPad Air and I find myself using the rubber nub more than I expect it. While it doesn't support magnetic charging, at least the charging port is cleverly hidden! I guess the only downside is, if you're a heavy user, they don't sell extra pen tips separately (FYI comes with 1 extra in the box).

Works great! OK only issue is that somehow the cap on the end came off. Might have been my fault, but when I went to use it the end was missing. You can order replacement ends though. Overall recommend!

The Zagg has been a life safe. I design on my iPad a lot. Its price is what made me decide to purchase it but I would recommend it over my Ipencil any day.

I was hoping this stylus would be a reliable alternative, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The main problem I had was with connectivity — it would frequently disconnect, which made it frustrating to use for writing or drawing. The build quality looks decent, but the performance was not stable. Compared to other options, this one felt less consistent and not worth the price. Sadly, I cannot recommend it.

I purchased this item from another big box retail store two times between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2022. The tip broke within a short period of time so I returned and repurchased the same item. The second purchase broke within a week and thr extra tip came already cracked. I decided to go to best buy thinking it was the store mishandling the product and not the actually quality of the item. Wring. I’ve haf this stylus for 14 days (tomorrow is thr last day for return) and two days ago the main tip cracked. I replaced it with the extra tip. The pen mag strip is so weak that it barely holds to the side of my iPad. When the mag failed and and rolled off my table (3 feet high) the second tip cracked and a piece even came off. This is ridiculous and the fact that this litem is reviewed as the BEST alternative to an apple pencil, is discouraging. Im going to return it and save up for the apple pencil because the quality of the Zagg is garbage.
