Great Alternative if you cna't afford a PS3

I bought this version after playing the PS3 version and I was at first worried that it would be a very watered down game because of the graphical limitations of the PS2. I was surpirsed to see that it is very close to the PS3 minus some minor subtractions, but it still does not take away from the gameplay. The soundtrack is excellent, and the additions add a great replay value. I still have a regular tv and to my surprise I had to calibrate the guitar to work because of lag, but the new calibration system is way better than on previous incarnations. It's easy to follow and doesn't require any guessing. Great game that I would recommend if you don't plan on getting a PS3 any time soon.

I got this game the day it came out and I've enjoyed it. But first, I'll start with what I think could be better.
CONS
First of all, the song selection was not that great. Sure there are a few really good songs that are amazing when playing with 3 other people, but then there's those songs that nobody's even heard of. If I had to set a ration of good songs to bad songs it'd be about for every 10 songs, about 4 of these would be decent. Of course this is just my opinion and everyone has there own taste in music, but I based this on how fun playing together in a band was for each song. Also there are not that many new options for Rock Band 2 that are different from the first. There's the "No Fail" mode which is probably my favorite considering I've got a sibling and friends that are awful at singing, drumming, or playing guitar, so the "No Fail" mode is put into use a lot at my house. Other than that and the "Hyperspeed" mode, there aren't that many new options.
PROS
Even with limited options and only decent songs, Rock Band 2 is no different from Rock Band 1. The same sense of fun comes when you're playing in a band either at home or over xbox live, which now supports guests in quickplay and has online Tour mode which is awesome. The graphics are still great (better than GH4's) and overall it's so much fun to play.
Final Verdict: If you had to pick this or Guitar Hero World Tour, pick this. It's better quality, better songs, better online play, and better instruments. I gave Rock Band 2 4/5 stars.

Should be a good game overall. Graphics may be worse then the Xbox 360's but hey it's for PS2. Song list is really good. Everyone should at least play Panic Attack on guitar difficulty expert. 7.5 minutes of pure awesome. The release date is really dumb. At first they release that Rock Band 2 would be available for every system on 11/18/08. Then they pushed up the release date for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Why didn't they do this for the PS2, which will probably have less then the all the other systems.

This is a fantastic game that exceeds on all levels. It's a great way to involve friends and family that aren't normally interested in video games (girlfriends and wives especially!) and its just a lot of fun to play. The character creation is versatile and its easy to make your own unique character that doesn't look like anyone else's.
There is a wide range of song styles that span several decades so there is something that appeals to just about everyone. The story mode can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be depending on your skill level and how much you want to be challenged.
If you don't frequently have a group to play with and you still want to enjoy the band experience with others, online play is fast and its easy to jump right into some rock with some total strangers.
Its understandable to be hesitant to shell out so much for a single game but I promise you will easily get 3 times the man-hours of enjoyable gaming out of this game than that of another game. Plus, once you have the instruments you can purchase Rock Band 1 (game only) and double your amount of songs for just $40.

Very fun game to play with friends, with great music throughout. Very low price now. Some sounds do get too difficult.

This is the best game ever! I play this game with my two brothers (plays guitar and drums) and my boyfriend (plays Bass). I am best at singing and everyone thinks I'm great. I think that this game helps you sing because it shows you where your voice is and how good you are. I like guitar hero II also, but this game is definitely my favorite. Hope you see me as your next American Idol!!

Rock Band 2 is very exciting and fun. Whenever you have friends over, Rock Band 2 is the perfect game to play. I rated it four stars over all because it's very fun, but the price is s bit ridiculous for a game, the music you play on it is strange, and the characters are well, abnormal. I played this game many times over at my neighbor's house. But other then that I love this game and wish I could buy it for a lower price.

If you already own a ps2 and don't want to upgrade to ps3 or 360, then buy this game. I've played it on 360, and the game play is just as fun, you just miss some of the added features. If you liked RB1 then this game is a million times better. Almost double the songs, and the song choices are a TON better, in my opinion. GET THIS GAME!
