Good sound and volume, Poor playback functionality

For the sound quality and volume of this player, I would give it 5 stars. The shell also looks and feels really nice. No complaints on these points. For the playback functionality, I would give it 2 stars. Whether you copy files onto the device itself, or if you attach a micro SD card, the playback will work. There are a few catches here. The playback will only resume if you don't switch off the power, and don't switch the input source. Therefore, don't use this as the music player if you have a huge playlist. You will have to keep listening to the same songs from the beginning many times. I also don't like the controls too much. When you try to change the input source, there is a pause of a few seconds before you can know what is going on. It is too slow. I also don't like the volume control. You have to press the volume button, and then press the forward/backward buttons. There is no visual indication whatsoever, which is a bit annoying. Overall, I think the sound quality and volume is really excellent, but the playback functionality really needs more work in order for it to be truly useful. One minimum bar is to remember the last played position even after you turn off the power.

I purchased this speaker because I liked the idea of incorporating an MP3 player with a portable speaker. Good idea, poor performance. When I opened the package, I was able to connect to my computer and download some songs, but soon found that the speaker's battery would not charge and the speaker will not play without connecting to a power source. The documentation stated I could add a micro SD card for more song storage, but the speaker would not recognize any micro SD card. In fact, the second time I connected the speaker to my computer, it would not work at all. I couldn't see the files I had loaded onto it, or get it to play when it was connected to my computer. The best thing I can say is that when it does work (while connected to a power source) there is considerable volume available for such a small speaker. Overall, I wouldn't buy it again.

A great purchase for an all purpose speaker

I was so pleased with my purchase that I had to come back and leave my review. As a customer who hates to shop round because its time consuming now I appreciate all those who take their time to leave reviews. I highly recommend this product. The sound shocked me and the many things you can do to improve the use and enjoyment of it are already installed. No extra memory required, no phone or device required because it already has a 4gb memory so you can just upload your music to the speaker (it brings the cable). If you want more it has a slot for a micro sd card. it fits in your hand so its easy to carry, its rechargeable, no batteries required. It should be in your cart by now. and btw it also has two songs already installed in memory, enjoy. Its a great buy.

    LOUD

I have an iTube for my motorcycle and I use it at work. Everyone comments on how loud it is, so I wanted something else w/bluetooth and SD slot like the iTube to keep at work. I purchased the ihome bluetooth speakers and returned them immediately the sound was too low. I'm usual skeptical of star endorsed products, but this speaker is louder than the iTube. I turned the volume all the way up and went upstairs to the furthest room in the house and I could still hear it clearly.

I read the reviews and bought one BIGEST mistake plugged it to my mp3 player sound was horriably staticy and scratchey couldn't hear any music. Tried to download music my program says it downloaded but it would only play the 2 prerecorded songs nothing else. Great idea but needs a Lot of work to make it viable. Thank goodness BestBuy has a great customer care team they made sure I got it returned my money back. I purchased another speaker from a brand I know now am happy

I purchased online based on consumer reviews on Best Buy and other sites. I found the sound to he a bit hollow and tinny. Returned to the store and listened before buying this time. We finally selected the JBL Flip and would love to get a second one. Lesson...listen before you buy.

Impressive speaker power and audio quality. Dual-purpose controls on compact unit make it slightly complicated to use. Missing any form of digital display that would be helpful in navigating through music downloaded to internal memory.

Over all I am happy with the little speakers, but I would say, do not expect it to perform like a stereo. It puts out plenty of sound for its compact size though, and user interface is easy enough.
