Geat Dryer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a set with the washer just before Black Friday. This is almost the top of the line for Samsung. The next model is several hundred dollars more, but I think this has great features for the price. The install is fairly simple. You will need a new power cord, especially if you are having it delivered and setup, so that's some thing to be aware of. The dryer comes with a Y adapter, 6 foot hose and 1 foot hose. This is so you can hook up the dryer to a cold water line, splitting it with the washer if needed, for the steam funtion. By default the dryer is setup with a right hand door. Hinge is on the right side. This is because the washer is a left hand door and the set is meant to have the washer on the left and dryer on the right for easy load transfering. The dryer door is reversable however and easy to do. Also the dryer is really quiet. You can really only tell it's running if there are clothes with metal buttons or large buttons, clunking around. Compared to my old dryer it's fantastic. You pretty much have to be in the same room to hear it, and even then it's not bad. There are many different load options. Many of the basic settings are set to use sensor dry to determine if the load is dry before the time is up. This works really well most of the time. With a large comforter, it can be a little sketchy. This is because the outside can dry before the inside is totally done. So The dryer will think it's done. You can either go manual and set a time/load setting, or take out the comforter and rearrange it and put it back in.

No more shrinking my clothes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought the dryer to replace our 10 yr old top loader. We picked this one mostly because it was the matching dryer to the washer we wanted. We were hoping for a dryer that had a better moisture sensor and one that would help save us time. This dryer is fantastic. Even on Medium heat, the clothes come out dry but not baked. This unit seems to do a good job of tossing the clothes thru the warm air, I have not noticed any hot spots to speak of. I am actually back to drying my jeans and take them out when it is done on the low dry setting. Also, this dryer is pretty quick. Its tough to say whether the washer's spin cycle is getting most of the water out, or whether this unit just does a better job at effectively drying the clothes. But, when it is all said and done, this dryer is quicker than our old one. More importantly, the clothes are never waiting for the dryer to finish the last load. This is where we are saving most of our time. I will say that I have not used all the features yet (steam cleaning), but this is a very good dryer. whether or not the steam cleaning is worth it, I don't know yet... Now for the IMPORTANT stuff: I'd highly recommend having the BB guys deliver the set. They deliver, assemble (if you got the pedestals too), set up, and take away any of the packing material all for about 30 bucks! Great deal. Anyway, MAKE SURE YOU BUY A NEW DRYER CORD BEFORE THEY DELIVER as the unit does not come with one. Also, they (BB as well as Samsung) recommend using the semi-rigid air ventilation kit. save yourself the hassle and just spend the $20 on the kit. They'll install it for you. Pros: Very fast; does a great job of drying the clothes without baking them; does have a countdown timer display (not very accurate at first, but gets more accurate as the load is closer to being dry). Cons: Chimes not loud enough; sticks out too far from the wall (the semi rigid ducting is not as forgiving as the old flexible ducting, so it sticks out from the wall about 3 inches or so more than the old unit); How about making the drawer in the pedestal (optional) big enough to store the drying rack???

I Love It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this dryer for $599. I've had it for about 2 months and I love it! I really like that on certain cycles it uses a sensor to adjust the dry time as needed. The steam option works great! I took all my winter clothes out of a space bag and popped them in to steam them & it got out all the wrinkles. The wrinkle prevent option is great, too. We stacked this washer & dryer set to make more room and it works really well. I'm kinda short, though, so sometimes I have to turn off the laundry room light to see what option the little red bar is on :)

Good Dryer, But Not Quite Perfect Like The Washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been forever won over to Samsung Appliances by the AMAZING Samsung WF419 Steam Washer, however, this dryer seems to fall a bit short of the excellence I expected after using the matching washer. Don't get me wrong, it is absolutely cavernous, and it dries clothes well... but thats about it. The settings are not nearly as numerous as on the matching washer, and there are only 2 steam cycles to choose from (Neither of which I have been able to use as of yet). The other thing that is a bit off is the automatic dryness sensor. It works well for mixed loads like clothes and dishtowels, but it seems to get confused when drying larger items such as comforters, or large bath towels, sheets, and jeans in a load. What seems to happen is that the outside of the item gets dried very quickly (Because this thing is very efficient) while the inside stays damp, the sensor senses the outside dryness and completes the cycle (With a lovely End Chime Melody, not an angry Buzzing). My guess is that Samsung has set the sensor this way to conserve energy by completing the cycle as soon as possible instead of continuing for a while to make sure everything is really dried. Honestly it is just a small quirk that is easily circumvented by choosing timed dry instead of sensor dry when drying your larger items. As for the steam cycles, I have yet to try them, because you are indeed required to hook this dryer up to a cold water line (Makes perfect sense, but I definitely did not think about it before they were delivered) Samsung includes a Y tap and and an extra water hose (Rubber not Steel Braided) which allows side by side or stacking configurations to be hooked up without any issues. However, since my laundry closet has the Washer and Dryer opposing each other I am SOL until I can find an extra long hose or have a water line extension run. Overall this Dryer rounds out the WF419 Washer/Dryer set nicely. Its not perfect, but its pretty close, and it's a great value compared to the nearly identical (But much more expensive) WF448 set which is only slightly larger and has a fancier LCD screen instead of just LED numbers above the selector dial.

Awesome Dryer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This dryer is awesome :) We got this dryer because our old dryer sucked (took at least 2 hours to dry a small load) at a really good discount - I don't think I'd pay full price for them, but I'm a bargain shopper, so... Pros: Fast drying times. YAY saving on the electricity bill! It dries a relatively large load of clothes - including 5 pairs of jeans - completely in less than an hour. The wrinkle release is awesome. I got stuck ironing all my fiancee's work clothes (chef coats)- while it doesn't work on all of them (it depends on the brand) it works on enough to reduce my ironing time. It also dried our queen sheets on low temperature in, idk, half an hour (I didn't time it). Cons: You HAVE to have the stacking kit in the same order as the washer/dryer. I bought it separately, and ended up with a LOT of frustration because I was told it would be ok (by 3 people), but the 3rd party delivery people couldn't stack them - they said Best Buy had to. 1/2 con: I am short (5'3), so when it's stacked, it's kind of hard to see. Easily fixed by a chair.

Great product but overpriced
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this product with the washer after shopping around for a while and reading reviews for almost every washer and dryer out there. We watched prices on line and store and finally purchased when there was a great sale (not just 10%). I am happy that we did that because I don't think they are worth the full price as advertised. We are happy overall, washer uses so little water that initially I doubted if it was really washing at all. But clothes came out really clean. Drier is also great, so much easier to dry clothes as it is bigger than our old one and also in less time. They are way quieter than our old top loaders however, you definitely will hear them run. So it is not as quiet as advertised but noise level is tolerable. I only gave 4 stars for quality only because I can't test durability. We only had them for a month so far. I did not purchase warranty because best buy increased their warranty prices on the exact day we were purchasing:( I am a little disappointed because the only reason we were shopping at Best Buy was that their warranty prices were the best compared to other stores. I would recommend this product, just do some homework, watch sales and compare prices :)

No complaints so far

Dries quickly.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dries quickly if you fill it half way. Will dry a King comforter (make sure you stop it to turn the comforter around a few times). I don't like the fact that it stops turning while on wrinkle prevent as items become wrinkled while they are sitting there so, make sure you remove items immediately. Also, I believe the constant turning on & off is neither energy efficient nor good for the parts on the dryer. I think the lint screen is flimsy. This is my first dryer of which the door opens to the side (items fall out when you open the door). I prefer the door to open downwards (like a shelf). I don't like my items wrinkled or falling out! I liked my old Whirlpool electric dryer better!

Q: QuestionHow long is the Wrinkle prevent? When I run my dryer, it stays on wrinkle prevent for a long time -- for example, yesterday I actually watched the dryer and when it got down to 1 minute, it ran on 1 minute for about 10-15 minutes, then it didn't say "END", it had blinking lights going all around the screen for a while -- it never goes to "END" until I actually open the door. Is something wrong with my dryer or do I just need to change a setting?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer If the Wrinkle Prevent feature is selected, the dryer will continue to tumble intermittently for approximately 90 minutes after the heated dry is complete. The indicator light above the pad will illuminate when Wrinkle Prevent is selected. This intermittent tumbling helps to prevent wrinkles from setting in if garments are not removed from the dryer right away. You can find more information on Wrinkle Prevent, along with other cycle options and features, beginning on page 21 of the User Manual which can be downloaded from Samsung's website. - Ms. Samsung

Q: QuestionWhy such a low price?Best Buy is selling this washer/dryer set for what seems to be a steal. All the reviews I've read seem favorable, as does the information I've found on them elsewhere. The very low price, however, makes me think that there might be something wrong with them. I'd like to purchase these appliances, but I'm hesitant to because I'm worried that there is a reason for the low price.

- A:Answer in our limited experience (1 month) there is nothing wrong with this W/D pair, they work well, but they are vastly overpriced at $1,099 each... or whatever the price is today... we got them for $599 each because of an availability problem w/ the lesser models, and if we had to do it again, we'd probably go with the similar but lesser trim model LG W/D pair we had in our last house. they were quieter. that said this dryer is a bit faster than the LG was. not a steal at $599 each, but definitely a good deal.

Q: QuestionSteam? What type of connection is needed for this steam dryer? Does it need to be connected to a water source? How is this done? What kind of source?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The dryer comes with a hose and Y splitter. You connect the splitter to the cold water outlet for your washer and run the hose to the dryer.

Q: QuestionPower cord not included? How much and where do we find the power cord if it's not included with the dryer?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Power cords may be different prices in different parts of the country. Lets say that if you were buying in my store then the price as of Sep. 25th 2009 is $27.99 for either 3 or 4 prong. Best Buy stores and BBY.com sell the power cords. There is no "if" when an electric dryer power cord is in question. NO electric dryer comes with a power cord due to the switch to the 4 prong cord back in 1995. Hope that helps. Happy washing and drying!!

Q: QuestionCan this dryer be vented out the bottom?I saw that this is a 3-way vented dryer but does that mean one way is on the bottom or is that both sides and rear? Thanks
Asked by Bryan.
- A:Answer I think this refers to the L-shaped bracket which is included with the dryer. It swivels to allow you to hook the dryer up to the vent ducting from any direction along the back (to the left, from above, or to the right) while pushed up against a wall. The Samsung installation materials warn against venting anywhere but through a non screwed metal dryer vent duct leading outside as directly as possible. The actual vent pipe outlet is on the back of the dryer in the center 1-2 inches off of the floor. I hope that helps!
