A: Solid state drives work for desktops, too, but you may have to get a mounting bracket or adapter as desktop hard drives are typically 3.5" wide and SSDs are 2.5" wide (like laptop hard drives). Newer desktop cases are providing 2.5" drive mounts specifically for SSDs. Speaking from experience. I just replaced two classic spinning-platter hard drives with a pair of 850 EVOs (1TB models) in my desktop a week ago. It cost me about $10 for an IcyDock adapter to fit two SSDs where one of my old drives used to occupy.
