First I have to tell you that I'm a guy and and I'm a mechanic. This is my first review that I ever wrote. I was in need of a new vacuum, my old vac was a dirt devil vision. I have a dog that sheds terribly and also two cats. I normally vac once a week, I should vac probably twice week but come on I'm a guy. Anyways, I vacuumed REALLY good with the old vac first then I busted out the Shark, I did half the room and I couldn't believe how much pet hair and dirt I already got! The canister was full, I had to empty it! I did the other half and I emptied the canister again, it was also full! I emptied both times on a white trash bag in the garage. Hopefully I can add pics to this review because I took pics of the huge pile I pulled out of my carpet. It's pretty gross actually. When your using the vac you definitely can feel and hear the brush agitating the carpet. It has a ton of suction. The on/off switch is real nice being on the handle. The fact that you can lift the canister off and still use the vac to get under the coffee table is awesome. Let me tell this one more thing, I have carpet in the living room and the bedrooms, but I have some hardwood floors in a couple other rooms. This is gonna sound kinda weird maybe, but I noticed if you turn off the lights and you use the led lights on the sweeper, it will Mega illuminate the dirt, or in my case the dog hair that's on your hard wood floors. I couldn't believe all the dog hair I saw. Well anyway this thing sucked it all right up no problem. I've probably read 150 reviews and watched countless videos on YouTube, trying to decide between this Shark or the Dyson multi surface. I am so glad I bought this instead. I'm telling you this thing is worth every penny. I paid 299.00/ you get what you pay for. Also I got to tell ya, in the beginning I was leaning towards that Dyson, but when I went to Best Buy and pulled it down from the shelf to check it out, I was not impressed, it seemed very cheaply built and expected a lot better quality for the money they're asking for those. This Shark is a winner for me. (Winning!!) Lol.

      Better than Dyson and Kirby!!!

      Posted

In 16 years I have owned two different models of Kirby vacuums and two different Dyson vacuums (my second Dyson I am replacing with this Shark and have had it for maybe 1 year), I am not a newbie when it comes to vacuums and have spent way too much on them over the years. Kirby is completely different than the Dyson or Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away XL, so I am not even going to use that vacuum in my comparison. I will be comparing the Shark to my Dyson Animal Ball that I have had for a year. The main reason why I purchased this Dyson is because I needed a new vacuum for my stairs. The little hand held Eureka I was using just was not cutting it. I got tired of having two separate vacuums and wanted one that can do it all. This Shark was the only one that completely checked off my requirements. The biggest difference with the Shark is there is not a huge wind tunnel inside the canister taking up space. That wind tunnel thing in the Dyson would collect dust and build up over time and you can not get it out with out a lot of cleaning, and dust in your face. Also the Shark canister opens on the bottom and the top! No more reaching inside or pounding the canister on the floor to get those big clumps out! The Shark wand is made of metal, the Dyson is flimsy plastic. The handle on the shark is thick solid plastic with rubber grips and feels good in your hand. The Dyson handle is a thin flimsy plastic that feels like a toy. The hose on the Shark is much shorter, but the Dyson hose is longer however it twisted very easily and wasn't very functional. Since the Shark can also be a canister vac, it has plenty of hose length. This Shark is heavy, but that is because of the quality materials being used and I do not find it to be a negative thing like some of the other reviewers. I would rather it be heavy with quality than light with cheap flimsy materials. My Dyson is very light but cheap flimsy materials. The main brush head on the Shark is much shorter than the Dyson, so it takes more passes to finish a room, I am not sure if there is any benefit to a shorter brush head or not. The Shark is a bit quieter than the Dyson, not so high pitch of a noise. The Dyson would fluff up the carpet pile a bit making it look not as matted down, the shark did a fantastic job on the high traffic areas and you could no longer see that it was a high traffic area. I vacuumed both of the rooms that I vacuum on a regular basis. I first went over it with the Dyson, plenty of fuzzy fluff stuff in the canister. I did the same two rooms immediately after with this Shark. There was a really dense/thick clump in the canister. What really had me impressed was the amount of very fine dust and particles that completely coated entire inside of the canister. My favorite features is the lift away and how easy it is to vacuum my stairs. I have not used all of the attachments yet, except for the mini motorized brush. I have 4 kids, no cats or dogs, and we do not wear out shoes in the house, I can't comment on how well this works for pet hair.

I've only had it for 24 hours and I'm unsure about it. I vacuumed 3500 square feet of low and medium pile carpet, as well as some wood and tile floors. A few things good and bad were apparent with the first use. The vac has a motor that when using the handheld mode takes off like lightening. You better hang on or it will vacuum without you. That said, the handheld was effortless to use. When used as an upright, however, it's not the easiest vac to control. I felt like I was drunk vacuuming as it's a bit tipsy and requires more effort to control. By the time I was done, I had a hot spot on my hand from hanging on and the effort needed to push it. I am actually considering putting on my bike glove next time. Seriously. The thing I thought I'd dislike the most was the smaller width of the vacuum head. As it turns out, it works a lot better around my furniture than my big, heavy, bulky Dyson ever did. It slides easily under furniture and bathroom cabinets. The things I don't like might be deal breakers. The competition advertises snagless brushes and I wish this Shark had that feature. Granted, I did a lot of vacuuming yesterday, but found that I had to snip the tangles from each of the brushes. If I have to do that every time I vacuum, then that's a no-go. Also, the contents of the bin do not always empty without help. The vac was really good at picking up my kitties long hair, but when emptying, I had to pull some of the dirt and hair out by hand.Yuck. I do like that it has top and bottom emptying ports. Most just empty from the bottom. Also when the bin opens any dust particles present come spewing into the air and over the trash bin. Baby powder from the bathroom carpet made a particularly big mess. Another yuck. I lke and don't like the cord. It's so long I was able to vacuum the downstairs from a main floor outlet. That's a plus. Then again, it's so long it also got in my way on multiple occasions. It could be a trip hazard for uncoordinated house cleaners like me. And of course, it doesn't retract automatically forcing me to either wind it up or just throw it in the closet loose, which is what I did. Another annoyance for me is that the vac couldn't pick up pieces of kitty litter in the corners or tight spaces where the carpet folds meet. I don't want to have to use a crevice tool after I've just used the stair tool. The noise is a reasonable level for a vacuum. Low enough that the cats didn't run when I came near them. Like all of the home vacs today, it's made of plastic. That scares me, but I guess that's the price for a lighter weight vac. So my verdict is, it's not a perfect design, it did it's job, and I'll probably keep it, but I'll have to wear bike gloves and definitely not drink before vacuuming.

I thought the suction on my Dyson was incredible....then I bought the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away XL Capacity HEPA NV755. This vacuum is a powered cleaning machine. When cleaning carpets & you turn the power on, it’s like shifting a car into “Drive”; it moves forward without pushing it! When you pull the vacuum back towards you, you can feel the strong suction of the machine. It has headlights on the rotating brush; I love that you can see the area you are cleaning. Especially when maneuvering into dark places, like under the bed, in closets, etc. Headlights are also on the wand and the handle, so no matter what attachment you use, with the long wand or the short handle, you can see what you need to target: a cobweb in the corner, some dust in a dimly lit area, or next to a piece of furniture. The dust cup fills rather quickly, especially the first few uses, because it’s sucking up all the dirt your previous vacuum left behind. So the XL capacity is useful. Visually, you can see the level of dirt in the canister and know when to empty, which is a simple task. The swivel steering gives you lots of control going around furniture. The transition from carpets is a convenient switch on the handle, as is the power button. It comes with a separate hard floor attachment with dust pad if you choose to use it. It does a great job of leaving hard floors very clean without a trace of debris. I probably sound like a commercial for this vacuum but I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this vacuum. If prices in circulars seem too high, you might try going into a store to view the prices. Best Buy had it advertised for $399 but the store had a $199 price tag on it! I couldn’t resist and I’m glad I didn’t. My house has never been so clean! I haven’t even mentioned the lift-away canister, but it’s another option that adds to this vacuum’s cleaning ability. Carry the canister with you or put the canister on a canister cart. It rolls behind you and the 30’ cord gives you more than enough length to walk long distances. There are a lot of attachments, including the mini motorized brush for upholstery and other uses. The NV Shark Rotator Powered lift-away XL is an outstanding vacuum.

Picks up so much more dirt than my previous vacuum! I've owned those 600 dollar Dyson vacuums before and truthfully they do not even come close to a Shark vacuum. I really wanted this vacuum because of the versatility of being able to use it under beds and under other furniture where a normal vacuum can not reach. I wasn't going to buy it until my other Shark vacuum went kaput and I am pleased to say that happened yesterday :) so I took the opportunity to take advantage of the sale that was going on with this vacuum! This vacuum is amazing! I had just previously vacuumed with my other Shark which was a lesser model, it filled up a quarter of the cup in just one room. I was disgusted to see what was on my floors because I vacuum at least every other day if not more. I have problems with OCD and this helps my anxiety knowing it really is leaving my floor and air cleaner. I also love all of the attachments and how they fit nicely on the vacuum. They are all very useful and I love how the dust brush slides up to be used on the extension wand, its right there when you need it. Also the motorized brush attachment is a must for any pet owner. No pet hair is left behind when it is used! The canister caddy is very useful as well, you dont have to lug around the vacuum when vacuuming the ceiling. Vacuuming is bit of a workout because the force propelling the vacuum forward is really strong, its a little hard to pull back but I will take it because I believe its the brush that pulls the vacuum forward and if its putting out that much force it must really be kicking up the dirt that's deep in the carpet! I am just beyond happy with this purchase :) This is a great, well thought out vacuum!

This Shark vacuum was purchased to replace our aging Dyson, which had enough plastic pieces break/fail that I finally decided to replace it. Between the fact that Dysons have gotten so expensive since the last one we bought, AND the fact that they really haven't solved some of the things I complained about with our last one, I decided to look into other brands. One of my chief complaints about our Dyson was that when I was vacuuming the floor and came across, say, an end table that needed dusting, I'd have to stop, pull out the long aluminum tube handle from the back of the thing, attach the dusting attachment, do my thing, and then reconfigure it for floor duty. With the Shark, you just pull the tube out, put the attachment on, do your thing, and keep going. At a fraction (okay, about half) the price of a Dyson, this Shark vacuum is a bargain. It comes with a variety of handy tools, and even has a wheeled cradle that allows you to use it like a canister vac--which is helpful, because when using it with the machinery attached to the handle, it is a bit unwieldly--not impossible to use, just a bit top-heavy. The suction on this vacuum is so powerful, it actually takes some getting used to, so bring your skills. I found that when vacuuming floors, it wants to lift up area rugs, and when using the dusting tools, it tends to suck them to the surface you're trying to clean. in fact, my only complaint so far is that the bristles on the dusting tools could be sturdier to keep the hard plastic they are attached to from contacting the surface being cleaned. Overall, a great value, but actually may be too powerful for some users. But if you like a vacuum with good, powerful suction, this one is worth a look.

Got this on a deal of the day and have had it for about a month now. So far we are very happy with it as it replaced a 4yr old Shark vacuum. It has tremendous sucking power to get dirt out of the carpet and was bigger than I expected after the previous Shark's we had. Having said that it is a bit of a beast compared to our previous Shark vacuums and even compared to the Dyson's we had before our last few Shark's. From box to use it was maybe 10 mins tops to get out of the box and have setup ready to use. One nice feature is the upright or canister configuration option. Depending on your house or the size of the person using it the canister option might be a good one due to the size and weight of this bad boy. It comes with multiple attachments and a bag to carry them in which is nice. The main hose that sucks everything into the collection canister is much more heavy duty than previous Shark vacuums we have owned (and consequently also the part that broke most often to be replaced or to be held on with duct tape). This was a nice surprise and welcome design change to hopefully allow us to use this one for many years. Emptying it is easy and the LED lights on the front are nice when working in a darker part of the room or in corners. Overall this vacuum has performed beyond our expectations and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solid option to those $500 ones and even better if you can grab it on sale.

I bought the Shark NV755 about a month ago and am very happy with this purchase. It cleans like a beast - better than my Dyson upright (can't remember the model number but it was very good). I did deep spring cleaning of my house including vacuuming crown moldings, baseboards, curtains, blinds, upholstery, under the beds etc - it did an amazing job! This vacuum will suck the life out of you it's so powerful. The attachments are very easy to use and are very effective - no loss of suction! No problem with the crevice tool that some others have commented on. Love that the wand lights up with the attachments on it too. Attachments on my Dyson were hard to use because the hose was so stiff. The Shark is great for pet hair - I have 2 long haired cats. The hair does get stuck a bit on the roller brushes (a bit more than it did on the Dyson) but it's easy to remove and wasn't particularly bothersome. It works great for carpet and floors, getting up dirt and hair with one pass. The floor attachment with cleaning pad works well on the hardwood floors - the pad actually made the floors shine more. The canister is easy to empty too, and it opens from the top and bottom. The ONLY downside is this machine is rather heavy - it is not light, so when doing extensive cleaning or a large house it can be tiring on the wrists. I would definitely buy it again. Love having a super clean house.
