Great LCD at affordable price.
Posted .I was wanting a Samsung LCD but went with the Sharp 64U because of the price and other opinions that I had heard. I have to say that I am more than happy with my purchase. The picture is awesome and the processor doesn't have any problems keeping up with fast action scenes such as football or video games. I have it for almost 3 months now and haven't noticed any problems at all. The only thing that could be better is the picture quality on standard definition programming. It isn't bad, but not as good as it could be compared to some plasmas. Overall, I would not have a problem reccommending this TV to anyone.

Sharp 42inch 1080P HDTV
Posted .By far the best TV for the money, you won't find another TV in this price range with equal picture quality. I purchased this TV to mainly watch sports and play PS3. I have not been disappointed; this TV looks great on all formats. Blu-Ray discs look outstanding as well as gaming. If you want a flat panel TV and want a great quality picture and sound, look no further.

Great TV, Good Sound
Posted .First HDTV I've bought. I did a lot of research on it before I bought it, I really like the style of the TV and the Sharp name. I have friends that have Sharp HDTV's and have had them for years and love them. The sound is aweome so far, I have a smaller living room and using the "Surround" feature where it mimicks a surround sound system is very clear and great for movies. Some of the determining features of buying the TV were the fast refresh rate (4ms), the high contrast ratio (10,000:1), the clean style and speaker under the tv rather than integrated in the sides, fake surround sound option, etc. Another reason why I went with this instead of a 46" was that I'm a younger guy and who knows where I could be in a year. I wanted a TV that was big but was manageable and didn't need a crane to move in and out. The PS3 screams on it and the graphics look amazing. I'm going to hook up a surround sound most likely, but I really like the sound so far from the stock speakers. I also got the cheaper cables (not Monster). I see the Monster cables as more of a name brand differance, not much more than just the name on the cable. Everyone I have talked to regarding the TV's and cable hookups has told me that more expensive cables don't really make too much of a noticeable difference. Which is what I've seen when comparing a friends cables vs my own. Don't get pulled into the crazy expensive designer cables is my advice.

Simply amazing!
Posted .I recently bought the Sharp LC-42D64U, and I must say that it is an amazing product. This new LCD is cheaper, thinner, and better than just about any new LCD out there, with the exception of the new Sony Bravias. For the price, you can't beat this TV. It can do true 1080P, has amazing color, can produce deep blacks and whites that is bested only by Sony Bravias and Plasmas (and barely, at that), and it has 3 HDMI 1.3 inputs, so you won't have to sacrifice quality on any players you have due to a lack of hookups. Some people have complained about the sound quality of this model. Let me say that it has been somewhat exaggreated. True, it isn't perfect, but it is clear, and for most households it will be loud enough. Besides, if you plan on adding surround sound to it, this point will become mute (no pun attended). All in all, this is one of the best LCD TVs you can get.

Trouble free, Awesome experience
Posted .I put off purchasing an HDTV because I was using rabbit ears for an antenna and I thought the experience would be disappointing at best until I got cable or dish. But when I recieved the flyier in the Sunday paper with the TV offer with a free Bluray Player I couldn't resist. The experince at Best Buy was great as all the personnel that I had contact with were helpful. They tried to sell me the extras like usual, but they did not push me when I said no, which I liked. I got the TV home by 6pm and my wife said, "Get it set up quick because I want to watch " American Idol " at 7. After opening the box, I assembled the stand using the 8 bolts provided. I was surprised to find they also provided me with the tool to do it. I had it on the stand in 20 minutes. Another few minutes I hooked up the power cable and the rabbit ear antenna( I should note that the antenna was a Phillips ampified antenna). By 6:30 I turned it on and followed the easy set up on the sceen selecting "Engish" and selecting "Antenna". The TV then Automatically went through and loaded the stations. Little did I know, the Tuner came up many more stations then I knew about. For one thing, there is a digital version of each analogue station. ie channel 4 the analogue, and channel 4.1 the digital. Then there is channel 4.2, an all weather station. Channel 10 had 10, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4 all with different programs. By 6:40 I was ready to go. At 7 we all sat down and watched American Idol in HD. The picture was beautiful right out of the box. I sat there in awe, not believing what I was seeing. The picture was as good as in the store, and I was using rabbit ears. The experience got even better when I learned how to use the menu and make minor adjustments in sound and picture. Then I really got a blast when I hooked up the XBOX 360 and started to play Halo. Oh! MY! Several weeks have gone by now and I am still in awe. I think the TV is extremely easy to use and has an absolutely great picture. Two other families that I know also purchased the same TV the few days after I purchased it. The only complaint I have is the base. It is shinny black plastic. It looks good but it collects dust. I think a rough, flat finish would have been better for cleaning purposes.

Solid LCD HDTV
Posted .The newly updated 64-series is a great television, that includes a lot of bells and whistles without the bells and whistles prices. 3 HDMI slots are great for HD components (xbox 360 looks awesome at 1080p); minimal "ghosting" effects and one of the truest blacks I've seen on an LCD screen...Most plasmas still have it beat on the blacks, though. At the store it was hung next to a 40" Sony Bravia that appeared to have a slightly crisper/enriched color; the salesman did say that this Sharp can be callibrated for that picture at the cost of $200-$300; my only concern is why it isn't callibrated to those more vibrant colors right out of the box. Once at home, you don't have anything to really compare it right next to, because of that, you'll certainly not notice the picture quality, as this LCD truly knocks the socks off of most of the competition. If we didn't have a custom hand-built entertainment center, we may have opted for the 46" or 52" - regardless of which one you are in the market for, be wary of the 62-series models from last year...they'll save you some bucks on clearance, but there was a lot of problems that weren't worked out until this newer model was recently released.

Nice, Very Nice
Posted .This is one terrific TV. What I like best about it is its compatibility with other systems in my house. Also very nice is the ease with which I was able to set it up (believe me, no small feat for me). I mentioned its compatibility. I've got it operating with my Cox HD-DVR, Sony home theatre system, and soon will have a Wii and XBox 360 hooked in. Honestly, I'm not an electronic junky - I don't know anything about electronics, but over the past year I've made some purchases and I needed a place to hook everything up! The set's picture is also nice. It's very nice when looking at HDTV; it's simply nice when viewing non-HDTV channels or DVDs. I guess that's my major disappointment with it: if you're viewing non-HD media its simply another 42" TV. Along with that, I'd say the colors don't jump out at you the way I hoped they would. Again, that's without HDTV. I'd say I got the set at an awesome price too. I paid just over $1,500. Finally, a big thanks to the guy at Best Buy who schooled my wife and me on TVs. The guy knew his stuff, and he shared it without pushing us to buy or to buy a specific brand.

No more butterflies
Posted .This was my very first "Big" TV purchase. I had researched for months, spent hours looking up and researching LCD's, Plasma's, Rear Projection.... I absolutely had no idea that there were so many options and specifications to consider when buying a TV. The last one that I bought I simply choose the brand and the size. In the end it all came down to what I had to spend, and what I needed to produce the best picture in my living room. I had actually been only searching C.C. when for pure amusement; I searched Best Buy and stumbled upon this TV and the awesome deal that came with it. The color and the settings, the 3 HDMI cables, the ability to hide the cables bind the stand mount; the sleek shinny classy exterior is very nice. For a limited budget, this TV is the way to go. The picture is great from every angle, the sound is 90% awesome, and as for the glare from my big windows, not even a ounce of distraction. The Free $500 Sharp Blue Ray makes the picture breathe taking. A fantastic buy and I would urge anyone contemplating which brand or size or type, this TV is the absolute way to go.
