A: No, it just adds features like being able to control your tv and such with the shield remove plus this add-on. It doesn't do everything the original shield remote does. This attaches to the side of the shield remote so you still use that remote.
Q: The Nvidia Shield remote is a bluray device, not infrared. How does "infrared learning" work then?
A: Because this is to program IR devices like TVs, Blu-ray players or sound bars, you can even control a fan it’s the remote is IR. It is not a replacement remote for the Shield.
