Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Price, Sound qualityIt's a good speaker, sound is clear and crisp. It is bulkier than what I was expecting. Seems like the competition in this space is catching up on quality and Sonos isn't budging on price. Overall I think it's a great speaker, however, you have other alternatives that could save you money for relatively close to the same quality.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Pros mentioned:Sound qualityNow that I’ve had this speaker in my kitchen for several weeks I can give this an honest review. That being said I truly love this speaker. The white modern look blends really well in a deep corner of our kitchen countertop. As for the sound it’s rich and detailed even at an extremely low volume. I really enjoy that I can hold a conversation and listen to music with such fullness. There in no need for an additional subwoofer. The volume you can achieve with this speaker is more than most people will need I would be extremely surprised is anyone were disappointed. The speaker is more than capable of bass you can feel in your chest. I keep the eq for the low end at -2. I enjoy bass. Mids are clear and smooth and highs are crisp yet smooth. The sound can charge from track to track depending on the recording and amount of compression. The Sonos app works well and playing you favorite music apps is a breeze. The app itself takes a little bit to learn how to navigate but is fairly comprehensive. It’s a $500 speaker so my expectations were fairly high. I have to say they were met. I was fortunate enough to purchase this at $399. So I would say it was a value.

Amazing one room system.
|Posted .Owned for 6 months when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This is an amazing speaker. I have one of these by it self in my art studio and you would think I have an entire sound system in there- it is comparable to the sonos one -- except with a more full sound and more bass. The speaker requires wifi -- but it is amazing and will even use your phone to tune it to the room so based on its location it will send the right amount of sound to the entire room. I have never seen speakers that are this nice before. My thoughts are that this is better than Bose.

GREAT SPEAKER!

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Beautiful sound from the Five. I was glad that this speaker gets really loud and the bass is so nice and doesn’t reverb so it’s a good clean bass sound. I paired it with 2 ones SL and my bedroom is a music haven now. Would definitely recommend this speaker if you’re looking for high quality sound on a stationary speaker for home use.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This system is absolutely wonderful to work out the audio I need in my home office. I truly didn't need to stereo it, as the room is small enough to have the sound bouncing off the wall. I've been with Sonos for a few years now and I just welcomed this baby to our family.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Best Speaker for your money! Crisp, clean sound. I paired it up with the Sonos One SL and cannot wait to pair it with the Sonos move. Even better if you can get them on Sale. Simple to Download the Sonos app and play all your own music.

Q: QuestionI have a Sonos Move I like it for what it is,a portable wi-fi speaker. However I would like a higher quality sound,as close to concert hall quality as I can get.Thinking of getting the 5.My question is will I notice any significan upgrade in sound quality
Asked by Tomthewise.
- A:Answer The Sonos Five is our flagship speaker and provides incredible sound for all of your content. You would hear an upgrade over the Sonos Move due to the 6 individually amplified drivers inside of the Sonos Five.

Q: QuestionI just purchased 2 SONOS FIVE speakers. I already have an ARC and sub in the living room for TV and music. Should the new FIVES be placed BEHIND the listener or in front by the TV for best sound experience? The room is rather large and open. tx
Asked by mj1jmvt.
- A:Answer Hi, and thank you very much for purchasing all of the Sonos you have, and for you question. If you're using the Sonos Fives as surround sound speakers, you'll want to put those behind where you sit to enjoy Tv.

Q: QuestionWill this work if it is paired with a Play 5?
Asked by Priscilla.
- A:Answer The Sonos Five can live on the same Sonos system and be grouped with Play:5 (Gen 2). You can not stereo pair the Sonos Five with a Play:5 (Gen 2) as the internals are different and will not allow the two to stereo pair.

Q: QuestionIt says you have to turn the speaker vertical to get stereo separation. Can they be laid horizontal and still be paired with another speaker to get L&R stereo separation?
Asked by Sandjam.
- A:Answer You can absolutely still get stereo separation with these paired and set horizontally. The speaker knows its configuration and smartly adjusts its digital sound processing to get the best sound. Vertical orientation gets a more pronounced "sweet spot" which is great for critical listening. Horizontal orientation still provides with stereo separation but gives you a much wider sound stage which is great for filling a whole room or a party with music!

Q: QuestionI own a Sonos Play 1. I got it Jan 2018 to try out Sonos. I don’t use it for music much ‘cuz I need more sound “umph”. I don’t have a sound bar. (future buy). Should I get another S1 & a sub or get a 5 (or possibly two). Room is large/open
Asked by LMA1.
- A:Answer don't have a 1, but have 2 Sonos 3 and 2 Sonos 5. The sonos 5 can really fill a room with sound!

Q: QuestionWhat is the deal with version 1 versus version 2? If I buy this and update the app, will my old 5 no longer work? I had heard older versions of Sonos products might no longer work with the new app.
Asked by Cesincyte.
- A:Answer Old equipment should work. My brother in law is doing that. New app is to support their pay music app by Sonos. It also added functionality for SiriusXM, Apple Music etc. I believe the new app was need for arc and Dolby atmos.

Q: QuestionI was considering buying this speaker, not only for listening to music, but also for audiobooks. I'm sure it has a great sound for music, but has anyone used it for listening to audiobooks? If so, how is the sound quality & dialogue clarity for audiobooks?
Asked by Josie.
- A:Answer Yes I have, its perfect

Q: QuestionIf I play Sonos radio on this speaker, will it time out after a while and shut off, or will it stream the radio station and play indefinitely? Thank you!
Asked by Ben.
- A:Answer Hi, and thanks for your question! Sonos Radio doesn't have a timeout feature so in most cases your music will not stop unless you tell it to. However, some partner stations may time out if that station requires us to do that in our agreement with them. However, none of the Sonos Stations that we curate or create will time out.
