A nice set for a moderate home theater enthusiast
Posted .I was looking for a nice flat panel TV and came across a special Best Buy was running where this was included Free with the purchase of a Bravia 52" 120 Hz TV. I am generally against the cheesy all in one type systems, I prefer components that I choose together, but since it was included for free with the TV, it pushed me into that one. I got the system home and was happy with the sound that comes out of the system being that it is not my main home theater system. the blu-ray player that comes integrated with it makes the TV absolutly look awesome! It also has a couple of other nice features, can plug in your ipod and play through the system in front USB port. Can do audio from your cable box via a digital audio in. It was really easy to hook up with the set up that it guides you through the beginning. The only snafus that I had with the system was that when I was ready to use, was that I rushed through setup and I couldn't get signal on the TV through the HDMI cable so I had to hook up component cables to se what I was doing and redo setup. I also would have liked it if you could run your cable signal through the box so I didn't have to run multiple wires tot he TV, but I guess that would make it a more expensive product. My other complaint would be that the speakers have the propriatary plug on it that you have to use so you can't really put on larger speaker wire. It is probably not needed, but it still gives the perception it is just a really cheesy product, but I guess it all sounds fine so whatever... Anyways, I do really like it, just some of the other things it can do. Works really well with the Sony Bravia TV I bought with it.

Great for people who want it done right and easy!
Posted .In my opinion this is a great HTIB setup. I'm not writing this review over a comparison vs. topic. This surround sound shines with movies. THat is the best feature for this Sony setup, besides even music is great either way. I'm currently listening to Pandora internet radio as I write this review. The internet apps never let the interface of this HTIB feel boring. I'm always entertained, always. For me this setup had a feel that re-introduced the "HTIB" brand. I love this so much i sold my Sony/Onkyo 7.1 setup. That was an amazing setup, it was not a HTIB. It was all components, with HDMI hookups. It was a newer model, nothing old at all. People would think I was crazy. Not at all, I actually feel this radio is a trend setter. The fact that it has very small speakers that deliver very rich and detailed sound quality. That is what stands out to me. Clear vocals with detailed bass. Nothing is ever distorted in my opinion. I never really turn this radio past 26. I believe the radio has a max volume of 34? Either way It is a great package. This radio is "The Situation" Lmfao! With the wifi dongle included, and 3D blu ray setup featured. Hd Sound Dolby features. Why not buy this radio. Who really wants all that clunky radio equipment anyway? People who had negative reviews of this setup, I don't understand what could make them happy. Maybe a $4,000 sound system. Then who would really ever wanna afford that? I bought this packaged in a deal this past July. I bought the Sony Bravia 55HX800 with the 2 pairs of 3D glasses this Htib, and 3D reciever. all for 2900.00 This radio was billed on the receipt as 299.99. I feel like I got a good deal. Especially for the LED Tv being only a month old. I have four 3D bluray titles, and they are amazing. Way better than going to the movies. Yes you should buy this setup, it's almost perfection in a box. (when paired with Sony equipment)

Great product -- after set-up
Posted .The speaker wires are far too short with a proprietary connection so you can't easily use other wire. Even in a relatively small room, this forced placement of the receiver and speakers in sub-optimal locations and increased the set-up time. Be prepared to spend a few hours setting it up, especially if you are connecting other equipment and running speaker wires behind furniture. When it is finally set-up, the sound is great, it looks good, and its easy to operate. Good value for the money. It would be even better if Sony provided a few more feet of speaker wire.

Good deal for $350
Posted .I am not an audiophile. But this thing does what it's supposed to. The sound is fine. Blu-ray is great, a lot of additional content after you get the wireless hooked up. I didn't buy the wireless speaker adapter (S-AIR) because I already had hidden wires ran to the rear surround speakers. Might get it though so I can take the rear surrounds out to the deck if needed in the summer Set up is real easy. My only complaint is that the speaker wires (nicely color coded) have a molded plug in on the recevier end. For me it was a hassle because I already had speaker wire ran in the wall, so I had to splice the Sony speaker wire to my hidden stuff then plug into the receiver using the molded plug. I couldn't just run my existing hidden wire and clamp it in the receiver receptacles because they won't accept just the wire ends. Not a big deal really, but I wonder if I lose some sound quality that way?? Overall, very happy with the purchase. Might get another for the basement.

Best Home theater at best buy with best price
Posted .All those who r reading reviews to decide what home theater they should buy,You are looking at the best product..Sony is best..Sound is very crispy clear and its subwoofer can thump well to shake the walls. For its discounted price of $349 I think there is no other home theater system can deliver the same quality,Samsung is ok but its subwoofer is not that good..dont buy a lg,whatever the discount they give... SonyBlu ray player is pretty good.the best thing is that you can watch Internet videos like youtube videos, movies etc all at no cost..LAN wireless adapter was included..Go for it!!

Average to good system, no complaints, but...
Posted .Overall, I have no real complaints about this system. It is the first home theatre system i ever bought so I don't have much room for personal comparison outside of systems I have heard at friends homes, stores, etc. The system was easy to set up. The internet connection was a bit more complicated. I am not very technologically savy and I figured it out fairly easy and/or got help from a sony customer service person. I REALLY like the Netflix connection. I was disappointed to find out most other services (ie Pandora) require a paid subscription. The sound is good too however I was a little disappointed with the overall power of the subwoofer and rear speakers. I suggest you buy on sale. I think I am happier with the purchase too because I bought it at $100 off and then had to buy an HMDI cable for $50. At store price plus an extra $50 I think my ratings above would have been worse. Again, overall an average to good system to watch movies, listen to music and enjoy at home. I hope the 3D compatibility will prove to be useful in the future should I get a 3D TV. Unfortunately, many of the feaures beyond that are worthless or require additional money or subscriptions.

Slim on connections
Posted .I got this system free as part of a promotion when I bought my Bravia TV. For that, this was certainly worth the price. So far the picture and audio quality has been good. I'm not a big audiophile but it works nicely for me. I mainly wanted the system for playing Rock Band and I am not able to play though the sound system with Dolby Digital turned on because it adds around 300ms of lag and the drum fills are unplayable. If I turn off DD, I get around 30ms of lag which is perfectly acceptable. Other than that, my main complaint is there are very few connections on the back of this blu-ray/receiver. I'd like to have both my TiVo and XBox be able to have their digital audio connections go through the sound system (to minimize lag). Right now I need to swich cords on the back of the Home Theater to get it to work. I'll try to find a switcher to eliminate that need

Very happy
Posted .I've been looking around for a good blu-ray home theater system and I found this one. My old blu-ray was having problems playing recently released blu-ray movies so I wanted something new that could play the movies instead of giving me a blank screen. I'm very happy with this system. The set up was super easy. I read other reviews on here and saw that people had problems with wire length with speakers but I found that to be no issue. Some are a bit short, but I didn't need to put them too far so no problem for me there. It sounds great. I wish that it had wireless speakers for the rear but for what its worth its fine. Far better than what I had before. Love the picture. I just need to get a 3D HD TV now and I'll be set!

Q: QuestionWhat needs to be done to this player to play 3D movies? This player says 3D ready. What exactly has to be done to the player to show 3D movies. Is it just a download or will something else have to be purchase?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Depending on your date of purchase: Firmware update maybe required (depending on date of manufacture) 3D viewing requires 3D content, 3D-ready HDTV and HDMI connection. Other 3D accessories (including 3D glasses and emitter) may also be required for 3D viewing. 1080p playback requires HDMI™ connector (sold separately) and compatible HDTV with 1080p display capability.
