A: There is no equivalent model. The KD-70X690E is the only 70" HDTV that Sony makes. However, there is a similar 60" model. The 240Hz current running throughout your home has nothing to do with the television's refresh rate. 60Hz is fine for TV shows and movies, if you are going to be gaming or watching lots of sports 120Hz would be better (and more expensive). Your best bet might be the Sony XBR-65X850E. It is a higher quality build and has a native 120Hz refresh rate, both sets are selling for about $1,500USD. Is that extra 5" really imperative???

A: I thought the same thing when I saw this set in the store. The TV was on the top of the display, near the ceiling close to the store lighting, but I decided to trust my past experience with Sony products and bought it. After it was delivered and installed I found that this TV is bright enough for me! I've had to turn down the brightness as it can be blinding during scenes with white or bright backgrounds, especially during the evening.
