    Simply Sensational

This is my Third Sony Bravia for my home in a year. The color is fantastic and the sound is impeccable with the addition of my Sonos Sound bar. The geek squad did an amazing job connecting the tv, Answering my questions, providing tutorials and I love the quality. I’ve had no concerns to date and the TV will be the only purchase I make going forward. With my Total Tech membership I saved on installation and if I have concerns, the Geek Squad is a call away. I will add that the picture quality is superior at night when viewing dark scenes versus the day time viewing. I recently watched Batman and must say the nighttime viewing was far more impressive at night. All in all, I’m thoroughly satisfied. And Glad I snapped it up on Black Friday!

    Sony A80L

I absolutely love this TV. The A80 is definitely worth the price and compares exponentially to its a95 counterpart. For the price this OLED is a steal. The brightness is more than enough even with sun shining through windows in the living room. The colors pop, and navigating between apps is simple and user friendly. I hope this helps anyone!

    Brightness no problem for A80L

All pics provided back up this review.  The foremost item I will address regarding the A80L is brightness.  After watching tons of video reviews I had concerns about brightness overall for OLED, and specifically for this TV which measures lower than similarly priced offerings from LG (C3) and Samsung (S90C).  Let me put any concerns to rest.  Do not shy away due to fears over brightness.  We have the A80L in our open floorplan main living area with 14 windows.  There is a large picture window directly across from the tv.  In the afternoon when there are no clouds and sunlight is coming through the A80L is fully visible, with very good glare control.  We watch the A80 in standard mode.  Vivid is simply too bright, even in full sunlight.  At night with several lights on we use the cinema mode, which is less bright than standard, and it provides more than adequate brightness.  Now on to the rest.  I compared the A80L directly against the Samsung S90C.  I actually had both TVs side by side for over a week, and watched a ton of content from multiple sources.  Other than outright brightness the Samsung is no match for the Sony.  In particular the motion and upscaling from YouTube TV and low quality sources is much better on the A80L.  Also the accuracy and detail in HDR and Dolby Vision is better on the Sony.  Details in the background and around secondary parts of the scene retain detail with the Sony that we couldn't get the Samsung to reproduce, regardless of settings.  The Sony's XR Clear processing is for real.  Setting all of the automated brightness, motion, and clarity to low produces a crystal clear picture regardless of source material.  With the Samsung we were constantly messing with settings, attempting to get the precision to match the Sony.  One final thing that stands out with the XR Clear is the natural skin tones and pure whites.  The Samsung had a reddish hue to skin tones that would only dissappear in its least bright modes, making it nearly unwatchable in a bright room.  The remote, menu/UI, and build were really subjective.  I feel both TVs were fine on those fronts.  An item I can't comment on is gaming.  We don't game.  The S90C boasts additional 2.1 HDMI ports and a more expansive gaming menu, so it may be a better choice for gamers.  I also won't comment on sound as we use a soundbar instead of the TV’s built in speakers.  Hope this helps someone make a choice on the A80L.
