A: I had the same decision to make. bottom line is i went with the extra size of the 85 inch The difference between the picture quality is minute and cant tell unless side by side You will not be disappointed and the lower price makes it any better.
A: The 85 inch is not edge lit, it is Direct LED, so it is a bit brighter. It is the only tv in the 850 series that is not edge lit. All the others are edge lit. All of the 900 series in any size are full array. They will be able to do Dolby Vision where the 850 series can not.
Q: Can the Sony 850f-series tv be mounted on a wall?
A: Hello JDH, yes, this model is VESA compliant and has a wall-mount hole pattern of 400 x 400 mm. For reference, please check the link below: https://docs.sony.com/release//Ref_4732748121.pdf, see page 20. Regards, _Bob
A: Believe it is in fact somewhere in between - definitely not Full Array. That said, think about how you will use it - for me, I generally watch TV and Movies in my family room with some lighting on - I honestly don't think I could tell the difference 99.9% of the time between the 850 and the 900. If you are a video-phile who will place in a dimly lit home theater it may be worth the extra $$ for the 900 series. My impressions of the 85" screen is that it is plenty bright with great viewing angles and controlled reflections. Both are great sets - for me, the $1.5K difference in price made it an easy choice to go with the 850. Good luck!
A: Yes the 85 is the only va panel in the 850 series. It's actually pretty much a completely different tv than the rest of the 850 series. The native contrast ratios are quite a bit better and overall it's a nicer panel than the rest of the sizes in the series.
Q: can I hang the sony 85 inch on the wall
A: Yes you can. I have mine hanging over my fireplace. I had Best Buy do it for me, which was great becaus eit took two guys to do it.
Q: What is the height of the TV stand? If the 85” TV is 43.3”, the stand + TV can’t be 46.4”.
A: The height on the stand is 48.66 inches and without the stand the height is 43.3 inches, meaning the stand (leg) is 5.33 inches.
A: My husband is very happy with the Sony we bought. He also uses it to watch all his sports and no blurry figures. The Sony TV has a very clear picture. He recommends the television.
