I upgraded from the a6000 to the a6300. The a6300 is a little heftier feel. I really like the Magnesium body. Sony added the audio input, but has built in stereo which is superior to the a6000. You have visual of both audio channels on the LCD screen and the sound is what you expect coming from Sony. There are a few differences in the menu, which I have yet to explore. I put my F/4 15-108 Sony G-Lens on the camera and it was a very snug fit. I started with simple photos and found almost no difference in focus between the a6000 vs 6300. They both focus very well. The huge difference is the video. You can shoot up to 4K: Here are the settings: 60p 50M Super 35MM 30p 50M Super 35mm 24p 50M Super 35mm 120P 100M 120p 50M You need a U 3 card can write at least 90MB/s in order to shoot 4K This camera shoots 1080 amazingly good. Much, much better than a6000. I did some test shots and wow. As for photos, did not see a huge difference in picture quality. But for video this camera is what I needed and will be testing with a Rhodes boom microphone shortly. Overall, if you are looking to do more video with a DSLR, then this is the camera for you. If photos are all you will be taking, take your time to upgrade. No big difference I can see in the photos, expect that maybe this camera might focus a little quicker than the a6000.

I've had the A6300 for about a month now and I couldn't be happier! I have taken in excess of 3500 pictures in that time & am amazed at the image quality. I can recover details in shadows in landscape & city scapes that I just ca't get with my Canon 7DMKii. I am comfortable using higher ISO's than on my 7DMKii. Up to 6400 will produce a useable image. I also love the fact that I can use my Canon L series lenses on it with an adapter. Focusing is fast & accurate. Even the eye autofocus works after a firmware update on the adapter. I have done a couple of model shoots & other shots with it & am very happy with the results. And so are the models. I feel safe walking around downtown Miami at night with this and my tripod since the thieves think it's a toy camera and don't bother with these small mirrorless wonders. The biggest downside to the camera for me so far is the memory buffer. Shooting in RAW at high frame rates fills the memory buffer & you are stuck until it clears. Memory card speed does not seem to help. I'm using a 2000x Lexar card & it is the same as using my slower cards. It's great for shooting in 4k, which I do very little of. I'm not a video person. Battery life could be a little better, but so far I am averaging 400-500 shots on a full charge when shooting models. That goes way, way down if you are doing long exposure stuff. Maybe 125 shots at 30 second exposures. I love long exposure night photography, so I just carry a spare battery & I'm all set. Batteries are small & light, so they are easy to put in a pocket. I would highly recommend this camera to my friends or anyone else that has an interest in photography. It has lots of features for the new shooter & people like me who shoot in manual mode. Off camera flash systems from most all of the major manufacturers are now available for the Sony system. The Sony system is lightweight for most of the lenses, but people still complain about the weight of the high end lenses. Those with an apature of 2.8 or lower constant apature's aimed at he professional market. I am very happy with my choice in this camera and I intend to stay with the E-mount system for foreseeable future.

Amazing Camera for Photo and Video

Coming from the Nikon D5000, this was a big step. Being a student as well, justifying spending $900 on a camera and $300 on a lens, which by the way was the Sigma 30mm DC DN contemporary lens, was not the easiest thing I have ever done. But I was not disappointed at all. Great 4k video at 60FPS and 1080p Video at 120FPS, makes for amazing films, along with the great stills. I am more on the film side of the spectrum, and do photography every now and then, but I have to say that this camera, truly keeps having me amazed. The autofocus for video and photo is just incredible! Can hunt a little bit more in low light, but in normal circumstances, this camera is just fantastic! The build quality is stunning. Mostly made of metal, with a very small body, most people are amazed when the see what such a small camera can do. The hand bump fits perfectly in the palm as well. If you are past the beginner stages and looking for your next big camera, but still small enough to take around town or on trips, the a6300 if for you! I highly recommend the extra money it costs over the a6000 if you are interested in that 4k video.

This is the best mirrorless camera for sports at 15 frames per second. The tracking is unbelievable. Of course you have to use a fast memory card. I use 64mb with 300mbs transfer speeds. This is overkill for shooting pics, but is highly recommended for shooting 4K video. This is an awesome camera. It out performs several Cannon and Nikon dslr cameras out there. It's funny because everyone think those two companies are the best for photography. As a matter of fact the famous photographer who took the picture of Mohammed Ali standing over the person he knocked out switched to Sony and is now a Sony brand ambassador. I don't know why Best Buy markets the Cannon and Nikon more heavily in their stores than the Sony products. They should consider pushing Sony equally to their Cannon and Nikon products.

I spent months researching what camera to graduate to, I have the Sony RX 100ii and wanted to move to a dale or mirror less camera. I chose the Sony a6300 because of the size and speed. My hands are small (I'm a 5'3" girl) and this camera just fit my hands better than the A7 or other dslrs. I went to many best buys and other camera retailers - the bottom line was eveyome said I would NOT be disappointed and couldn't go wrong with the 6300 and they were right! Fast and great in low light! You will love it!

Pro: Autofocus and clarity Tyler in Mason/Cinti sales @ Best Buy so knowledgeable & patient. Buying fr Best Buy there return policy is awesome allowed me to find Camera that I hope I can keep for awhile. Negatives: Buttons on the back too small & soft, may have to press 2X. Hard to see review pics on rear screen, washed out Because of wash out wish viewfinder was much bigger. Kit lens is cheap, so had to spend more for better len. It's pricey when you add cost of the better len.

This is a good camera. Great pictures and videos, but with limits. My a6300 tends to overheat and shutdown if it's a hot sunny day while recording in 4k. I've experienced this in 81° F or warmer. Your mileage may vary. In either case, when I'm able to record in 4k or 1080p 120fps, the footage is fantastic. I know there's rolling shutter issues, but I usually record airplanes and landscape on a monopod or tripod with no issues.

The feel of the A6300 is great, its feels like quality, compaired to the A6000. I got this for the 4k video and better weather resistance. I was waiting for the A6500 but it seems they aren't in stores and only available for pre-order or online, and by the time I tried to pre-order they sold out at Bestbuy.com. I do wish the A6300 had some of the A6500 capabilities but from reviews of the A6500 Sony still has some bugs to work out before its worth the extra $400.
