A: Most S-AIR enabled transmitter devices can support up to 10 speakers.
Q: How do I incorporate wireless speakers with my STR-DG820 receiver?
A: The STRDG820 is not equipped with a port that will accommodate the transmitter from the ALTUS S-AIR system.
A: The pair of speakers with remote don't have any inputs. They plug into a wall receptacle and receive their signal wirelessly. These are intended to be used with another Sony S-Air product to expand the sound. In my instance, I already had a Blu-Ray disc player/home theater in a box setup w/ S-Air capability. The remote lets me plug these in and expand the sound from the main unit to other rooms, like the batthroom and kitchen. The remote can be pointed at the speakers to adjust their individaul volumes or switch source. Neat thing about these is that someone can be watching TV or a movie on the main unit, and these can still control the tuner as a separate source. Even if the main unit is off, the wireless speakers can be turned on in another room with the tuner as a source. Sometimes, I'll run Pandora or my iPod on the main unit, and these can be used to extend that sound to hallways or other rooms. Since they are powered by the receptacle, I believe one could probably run a whole bunch of them in just about every room of the house. You will need to shop for a main unit that broadcasts, and it should accept both optical and digital outputs from other devices like the BDV-E770W I have. These have a channel selector switch, so you just put all the speakers on the same channel as the head unit. Hope you find this helpful.
