Great 32" Great price!
Posted .After having this set for over a week now as I use it as a second computer monitor via hdmi its perfect. Sd channels are so so but what hdtv shows sd channels well, their not designed for that. The network channels look great in the evenings in hd from the wall cable. After some tweaking which all sets need out of the box I can say its a perfect fit for my computer room next to the computer. I have a 24" 1920 x 1200 panel for main computer use and this works flawlessly at 1080p as a second monitor after you tweak your settings both with your video card settings and the tv. I play Blu rays through my computer over to this tv and I'm very happy with it. But I'm thinking of getting the 120hz model of this set the ex500 but didnt want to pay the $160 difference but thinking I may go ahead and do it anyway. Great buy good price cant beat a Sony or a Samsung either way.

A Review from a broadcast Professional
Posted .First of all, I will start by saying, as a video professional, I am very picky about my TV Picture. I want the content to look realistic and as close to my work or the other producer's/ director's work as possible. With that said People must realize that Vs must be calibrated for best results. out of the box you typically won't get the best results. also stores typically don't calibrate tvs, they run them in the display mode to show off the bright colors which is deceptive . With that introduction at hand, here is my review: I was in the market for a second TV for the bedroom, and I wasn't sure how I felt about LCD as I have a plasma tv in the living room and it really out does most lcds i've seen as far as accuracy in reproduction. With the sony EX40032 inch, the display is full HD, the colors are excellent. I'm very impressed with sony's factory defaults, it doesn't take a lot of tweaking to get a decent calibrated TV without using expensive tools or calling a professional to do it for you. After calibrating the set, I ran a slide show of pictures I took myself both indoor and outdoor, and the results were stunning. This tv reproduced the colors so well, I felt like I was outside taking the pictures all over again. The 24p mode seems to work well, no jitter or abnormalities I've found. Also the TV doesn't seem to have a large problem with motion blur. It seems really well designed for an LCD TV with these specs. As far as the reviews on the buzzing/humming sound. I did some searches on that before I purchased the TV and hardly came up with anything except for the ones listed here. I'm thinking the most likely cause for that was the particular sets tried had a bad ground or power supply, either that or the particular outlet wasn't grounded correctly. And the particular set didn't deal with it well. I have no buzz from this tv, in fact, it's very quiet. I gave the sound a good rating, because for TV speakers it's good sound, but it also depends on the source material each piece of material has sound recorded at different levels, so that's why tv speakers typically don't give good audio consistently. External speakers are always best for sound reproduction. For those, who complained about getting two years from the set, With electronics, it's hit or miss these days, Price doesn't mean everything anymore. Quality control on mass produced products has gone down so much that it's the luck of the draw basically. The good news is "MOST" failures happen within the warranty period, as a whole, so if the company refuses to honor the warranty I'd call better Business or a similar organization. so you get what you are due. The Last thing I want to address here is, the people who buy an HDTV to watch SD stuff on (especially composite video) and then give a bad rating for picture quality. LCDs look best at their native resolution. Most LCDs don't handle SD content well, and the larger the screen the worse it's going to look because of the pixel size and quality loss of the picture I strongly recommend, people have an understanding of video before buying an HDTV if possible so they don't incorrectly buy. In honesty though buying an HDTV for mostly standard def content though is a waste, they won't be getting even half the quality of what that tv is able to do, and Chances are they won't be happy with the results and end up getting mad and writing bad reviews. Overall this TV is great for the price, the contrast is great and it comes very close to my plasma's picture in terms of color and black level contrast. If LCDS didn't have the backlight, then I think it would be identical, or at least even closer. AS a professional though, I'll always say the best technology for the best reproduction of content, is a CRT. I listed this as a business review because in Production watching TV is also how we learn to improve our work, and of course a good set is needed to review our own work too.

WOW !
Posted .THis is my first LCD TV. I cannot beleive the audio quality with the built in speakers. I am picking things up that I never heard on DVD's before (And I have been watching some of these movies for over 20 years). The 32" fits perfectly in any bedroom. Lots of things to do with this TV- You can view pictures with a removable USB, connect to your PC so you can watch movies from Netflix, Hulu, or Crackle. (Time to cancel Cinemax and HBO). This Bravia is very light compared to my old 25" tube TV. The remote control is simple to use and not cluttered with too many buttons. You really don't need surround sound system with this TV in my opinion- the audio is crisp and clear. YOu also dont really need the 120 Hz version if your buying a Bravia (Bravia has an engine with a comb filter) so save yourself about $80 by getting this 60 Hz version. Here are some of the features on this model: 1080p full HD, Ambient sensor (optimizes picture based on room lighting), 4 HDMI, 32" screen size. So far- I cannot think of too many downsides to this TV as of yet. Takes about 11 seconds to power up. I will definately recommend the Sony Bravia series to friends.

Best LCD TV In It's Price Range!
Posted .After a couple weeks of online research and hours in electronic stores staring at TV screens, it came down to an LG, Samsung, and this one. What made this model stand apart from the rest was it's natural color tones, which made the image come to life. The LG and Samsung had equally impressive clearity, but the color just seemed funny.. True, the LG and Samsung had bright crisp images, but everyone on screen looked as if they had cheap, spray-on tans. Not to mention that backgrounds seemed too cartoon-like. If you like that effect (and many actually do), this TV is not for you. But if natural and realistic looking programming is what you crave, I would recommend a Sony. The sound quality caught me off gaurd. Most LCD's are known for their 'hollow' sound, and this was no different...or so I thought. After tweaking a few settings, the sound became rich, full, and bursting with life! There is more than enough power to fill a small/mid-sized room. I won't even mention all the easy-to-use features that make TV viewing a truely unique and personal experience. Read the product description for more details. Compare the features of this model to the competition and see for yourself just how much you will miss if you were to settle with anything less. Of course, nothing is perfect. I did like the swivel-base on the LG and Samsung, and I would have liked an S-Video input. Despite these two minor flaws, I could not compromise my duty as a responsible consumer by passing up on the superior quality Sony is famous for. Obviously, you should not base your opinion on an online customer review; it's your choice in the end. But when I was in your shoes, nervously searching for the best deal, this TV was the choice I made. I haven't regretted it since.

No regrets.
Posted .The 32EX400 is just about perfect. However, the same cannot be said for the remote. It's very awkward to use because the navigation arrow buttons are situated immediately adjacent to the buttons for other functions, and you find yourself constantly clicking one when you meant to click the other. With time you more or less get used to it, and increase your skill with the remote, but it's still not as easy to use as is my Toshiba remote for the kitchen TV. Also, the sleep function doesn't have a button on the remote and has to be accessed indirectly by clicking on other buttons. The TV itself is great though. Let me add, the Toshiba has an "Info" button on the remote that not only gives you info on the program that's playing now but also the following program, the one that will play next. The Sony "Display" button gives you info on the program that's presently playing, but nothing more. I find the Toshiba "Info" function to be very useful, and I would advise Sony to adopt this app in the future. Again, my gripe is with the Sony remote, not with the TV.

A VERY nice 32" television!
Posted .I looked around before purchasing this TV to see what was out there for the 28" to 36" range. I decided on this one after looking at them in Best Buy. I have to say that I am VERY happy with my purchase. I have it hooked up to my computer via HDMI. While the monitor has a PC connector, my computer has a HiDef card, so I went with the HDMI...and I gotta say it looks excellent. I have both my XBox 360 & PS3 connected (via HDMI) to the TV and it keeps up with all the action very well. The contrast is excellent, IMO, so the darks & blacks stand out very well against the brighter colors. I also watch a lot of movies (from Netflix) on the TV, and the only time I have any difficulties with picture quality is when my ISP slows down! As far as sound goes, its speakers are good for a television; highs and mids come out clear without sounding tinny. For not having any true bass it plays music and soundtracks very well. So if you're looking for a good, all-around (32") television, you can stop right here. This is going to be it.

Best picture quality among 32" LCDs
Posted .Hands down the best 32" LCD you can buy. It has pretty accurate color out of the box (if you turn off all the useless enhancement features), crisp detail, deep blacks, and 1080p for sub-$500. Sony and Samsung are both great, but Samsung seems to have a much higher failure rate, so by all means go with the Sony. My only two gripes would be with the swivel stand and uniformity. I don't know why they put a swivel stand on the EX500 but left it off this one, but oh well. No biggie. And this is true of most LCDs, but the EX400 has slightly uneven backlight uniformity. Not really a big deal and not really noticeable. The sound quality is actually pretty good for an LCD, so I don't know what these people are whining about. You won't get LCD speakers much better than this.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between 60hz and120hz on picture for Sony tv's.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The difference will be the flickering "potential" when watching high resolution videos or playing high res video games. The general public will not recognize this, but any true gamer or techie will get peeved when the 60ghz displays keep flickering during high speed & high res moments.
