Best Projector there is under $2k....PERIOD.
|Posted .When my VPL HW40ES was hit by lightning, my whole household went into a deep movie depression. We watched at least one movie, sporting event, or tv series every night on that machine. So obviously we where going to replace it with its new predecessor, the sony VPL HW45ES. The fact that it was $500 cheaper msrp was icing on the cake. Probably if I had to say the best improvement made over the 40ES is it's more believable. By that i mean the picture looks more real. The colors look more natural and images look and move more life like. It's as if your where watching a live show or game in person. Anyone who gives this projector less than 5 stars must have no knowledge of how to set up a projector, or they are just bashing sony for some other reason. This projector is defiantly a keeper, just like the 40ES was before it. Don't waste your money on the HDMI wireless adapter option unless you have no other choice. It will definitely degrade the picture quality. Always feed your projector the best possible source there is. BluRay, over the air, directv, cable, streaming in that order for the best results.

Very good, satisfied.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe projector looks very good and performs well, so far. The workmanship is good and the technicians cleaned up very well and left the room looking good. We are also happy with their programming for the remote control to access everything. Our only concern is that out current TV could not be connected to the cable. Thus to see cable we have to lower the projector screen. We will get a new TV with the appropriate connection so we may need the Geek Squad to return to connect it.

High quality projector
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWas on the fence on this projector and a more expensive one. Choose this one and there is no looking back. The only down side i see is there is no keystone adjustment but there is a lens shift feature that is almost as good.

Q: QuestionI have a streaming channel and i stream with projectors at the moment, but my question is what makes this projector special on the price? how does it differ from a benq h2150st ? both 1080P but this one has less lumens and it cost 1k more.
Asked by josegaucinoffcialyoutube.
- A:Answer The BenQ does have more Lumens (2,200 vs 1,800) and built-in speakers if moving it around is important to you (wasn't to me). But take a look at the below figures and you'll find out why it costs more. There were other things I factored in, but I researched these models heavily along with 3 other brands priced from $675 to $4,000 and bought the Sony HW45ES. Contrast Ratio: Sony HW45ES - 120,000:1 BenQ HT2150ST - 15,000:1 3D: Sony - Yes BenQ - No Lens Shifting: Sony - Yes BenQ - No Audible Noise: Sony - 22.0dB BenQ - 29.0 dB Lamp Life: Sony - 4,000 hrs. Ecomode increased this to 6,000 hrs BenQ - 3,500 hrs Warranty: Sony - 3 yrs BenQ - 1 yr

Q: QuestionDescription states 6,000 hour lamp life. That is less than a year of viewing. Is there a replacement bulb for these? Hard to change?
Asked by Interestedbuyer.
- A:Answer Interestedbuyer, You would have to watch over 16 hours per day to get to 6,000 hours in one year (16.4 hours X 365 days = 5,986 hours). Even if you watch "only" 8 hours per day, this bulb would still last over 2 years (8 hours X 365 days = 2,920 hours... 6,000 hours total bulb life / 2,920 hours per year = 2.05 total years of bulb life). Now granted, this does assume you use eco mode the whole time, but it does give a good idea of how much you can watch on one bulb.

Q: QuestionDoes this come with a ceiling mount adapter? If no, how much? Either way, can it be used with the Chief ceiling mount already installed at my house? Thank you!
Asked by ChrisV.
- A:Answer It does not come with a mount. I was able to use my mount from Sony HS10. Depending on your adapter you may be able to use your mount/adapter. I believe Chief adpters are about $100 if your current mount doesn't have the correct screw configuration.

Q: QuestionDoes this VPL-HW45ES model accept 4K content? The output display may not be 4K ( still be 1080p) but if a 4K content is played, will it work?
Asked by Lucky.
- A:Answer yes it does, just like john says. The ones that say no,mustn't have actually tried it.

Q: QuestionWhy does your web page state this is wireless when it is not? This has caused me unending grief as the best buy salesman used this information to sell me this projector when I needed wireless HDMI.
Asked by Madcustomer.
- A:Answer This unit is indeed wireless if you want to miror your android phone or media player to it. Only works with android though not IOS unless you have an Apple TV hooked to the hdmi inputs. If you wanted wireless hdmi Sony sells that as optional equipment, but you'd be better off using another model from best buys at a lot less cost. Both options do degrade the quality and I would never suggest using wireless. You have to plug the projector into the wall, so why not run your hdmi cable to your player or cable box on the same path.

Q: QuestionWill this projector throw up to 18 feet. Any issues with quality of picture at that throw distance?
