A: Yes...the camera lens is totally protected. You can lay the phone down on the back side with no concern for the camera lens. Additionally, on the front, it provides just enough of a lift to keep the face of the phone from touching if you lay it face down on a flat surface.
Q: Are the volume and lock buttons easy to push with the case on?
A: They are super easy to use. I had an otterbox before and those buttons tend to be a little stiff. These are not. They protect the buttons well without compromising ease of use. You will be happy with it.
Q: Is the back of the case a slick plastic, or is it a rubbery surface?
A: The back is a hard plastic. Not the chintzy kind of thin plastic that cracks. I've had 2 Speck Cases (only to change design) and they are fantastic. Rubberized around the phone. I highly recommend them. In fact, I bought 2 more as gifts for my 20 something kids!
Q: Does it have screen protection?
A: No, there is no screen cover - however, the rubber sides of the case come up pretty high, so they hit the ground before the phone does. However, I would still use a tempered glass screen protector to be on the safe side.

A: I'd go in store and ask a salesperson. They are so helpful and even if you have to order it online, they will help you get it for better price.
A: I would get your phone and then wait for the new release of this case. You know it is coming and I am sure the company wants it on the market as soon as possible. Get insurance and just be careful during the interim. It is worth having.
