This movie wasn't about the "current war." It was about the ego of Thomas Edison. That said, it was the most realistic portrait of the man I've seen. He never liked to lose and he was aggressive toward anyone who tried to best him whether with electricity, the phonograph or any of his other inventions. It was great to see Benedict Cumberbach playing against type too. One thing I didn't like was the limited time Tesla got in the film because it was really his work that allowed Westinghouse to succeed and that was underplayed. Otherwise it's a highly enjoyable movie about a historical event that most people don't understand.

The Current War is a 2017 American historical drama film inspired by the 19th century competition between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse over which electric power delivery system would be used in the United States (often referred to as the "war of the currents"). Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Michael Mitnick, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Edison, Michael Shannon as Westinghouse, Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla.... Curb side pickup is great - but I pre-ordered this BluRay/DVD and digital copy, and it was here the day after it was released. BestBuy prices are the lowest.

Without spoiling any of the movie. I will say this movie is more about Westinghouse vs Edison rather than Tesla vs Edison like we have all been told throughout school. Tesla still plays a part in the movie but was not the main focus of the story. Every actor played a convincing portrayal of their characters for the time period making the movie definitely watchable multiple times. The fact is this movie is a hidden gem. A nice break from superheroes and spy assassins named Wick.
