Close shut the jaws of Oblivion
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think this game is Free-to-Play now, but it was on sale for $4 so I bought it. I haven't actually played it, but I'm an Elder Scrolls fan and it looks nice on my shelf xD

Let's bring justice and clear some things up.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nearly 80% of these reviews are from those that failed to research the game, and just went and purchased it blindly simply because it said "Elder Scrolls" on the cover. Everyone take a step back and appreciate what was done here. If you go into this with a Skyrim 2.0 attitude, you will be disappointed, and should have known better. All MMO games will take a cut back on the graphical and game play department simply because that is the nature of a MMO game. That's what everyone is misunderstanding. Yes, It is an Elder Scrolls game... but a MMO as well. I personally like the social aspects of a MMO and find ESO to be very enjoyable. It has its flaws, and is far from perfect.... but it does not deserve the bad reputation it is receiving simply because a majority of the consumers can't be reasonable. If you love Elder Scrolls, but do not like MMO games, maybe stay clear and wait for the next release. If you like Elder Scrolls and MMO games, then perfect! Everyone, do your research, game companies cannot please every person out there... as we all enjoy different things.

For any MMO but not necessarily Elder Scrolls fan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really I'd give this 3.5 stars. It's slightly better than I had hoped for. A lot of races, but only 4 classes is a bit lame. Only one class for each role (tank, healer, melee DPS, Ranged DPS). Still too many issues that shouldn't exist after two years. Questing is good, HUD is clean, combat is going to be personal preference. Here is my biggest issue - I am a veteran of WoW for ~10 years, so I have a pretty good idea on how an MMO works, but this game doesn't give instructions how to do simple things. I don't need a tutorial how to move and do combat, but it would be nice to know how to replace a group member who has quit, or how to leave PvP zone. Dungeons are alright, but feel too much like whack away for 5 minutes until boss dies. Also, good luck actually completing one, a lot of quitters and people who don't really know what they are doing. I wasn't a huge Oblivion or Skyrim player, so can't comment much on the lore/Elder Scrolls tie in. I don't mean to sound like an Elitist because I truly am not one. I really just want to find the next great MMO, and while this is a good time-filler, it's not great.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I play ESO with my wife, and honestly we have a blast. I cant speak for solo play, but if you have someone to play it with, give it a try!

Better than it used to be
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only bought this recently, but after all of the horror stories I've heard from the first players, it's actually not bad. It's great, in fact. The style seems to be a 1st/3rd person version of Runescape(tm), which is another game I love. It is a really fun game, especially if you find a nice guild, which shouldn't be too hard if you just stick around Vulkhel Guard's blacksmithing area long enough. Not as good as Skyrim, but then again, how many games are? I can only think of one, but since it's not Bethesda's, I won't mention it. Words of advice, when you find guild stores, do comparison shopping. Some people will sell level one food at a level 20 price, so don't fall for it. Also, if you don't have one, please buy a headset. Don't be that guy that jumps around people to communicate. If you can't afford a headset, then communicate with the emotes found in pause menu => (x button).

Great, but could have been better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the game when it first came out. Of course with any MMORPG the launch is going to experience huge lag. However, it should not have lasted that long. The European servers were not as full as the American one so I just switched over there permanently. The game itself is great, but I'm not sure if it will survive off the F2P micromarket system that it has in place now. Nontheless, I still support the game and I am a ESO + member. Right now I don't think ESO + is worth it, but when they release DLC then it will be as you don't have to pay for the DLC since it is included in the ESO + membership. You could probably have more than 200+ hours of gameplay and still not be finished, there is so much to do. Try to get a group running together doing quests and dungeons otherwise it can get boring by yourself after awhile.

Not as bad as I've heard...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this game in mid June 2015, and for a few weeks it was nearly unplayable. The mandatory update took several hours, and after I finally got a spot on the server, several aspects of the game were missing. I couldn't complete quests, other players were black silhouettes, and I was unaware that there was voice acting for the NPCs until a few weeks later. It would seem that despite the rocky launch, Bethesda has all the kinks worked out and now it is an incredibly playable game. I've never played WoW or any other MMO, and if I can get my n00b-tier head wrapped around it in just a few sessions, anyone can. The online community is great, and I have a feeling that this game is just about to hit its stride. There are still bugs, and there will be for a while. So it goes with new MMOs.
