Synopsis

The Haunted Mansion
After the blockbuster success of Pirates of the Caribbean, another Disney theme park ride is adapted for the big screen in this family-friendly mix of comedy and chills. Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy) is a real estate agent whose latest project is to find a buyer for a huge but dilapidated old house in New Orleans. However, when Evers visits the property with his family, he discovers it's already inhabited by 999 ghosts, none of whom are interested in sharing the space. As the spirits make their displeasure known, Evers and his family try to shoo them away with the help of an eccentric medium named Madame Leota (Jennifer Tilly). The Haunted Mansion also stars Terence Stamp, Don Knotts, and Wallace Shawn. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

When this was released the fall of 2003 I had great expectations because of how much I enjoyed ‘Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl" that was released the same year. I was let down. Have always loved "The Haunted Mansion" attraction at Disneyland. Eddie Murphy doing his usual role of a smart alec, pushy guy. Did not care about his character nor the kids. Madam Leota if you are expecting an eerie vision from the attraction you will be disappointed. Jennifer Tilly just repeated some of the lines from the attraction. The special effects were great. They did nothing with the characters & how much can a person take of Eddie Murphy doing the same old thing?

Our family loved the Haunted Mansion ride when we visited Disney and were thrilled to see a movie based on the ride! This movie is funny, family oriented, a little scary for the younger audiences, but loved by all in our family. The extras are not to be missed, as they explain the making of the movie and are funny as well. Definitely should be seen during the haunting season, but good anytime of the year.

Just to watch that amazing mansion is worth watching! But the whole story and so many creative and unpredictable scenes and acting was simply amazing! It's a comedy and adventure movie first of all that falls into a rank with Beetlejuice.....Very surprised....Felt like watching a video game with 25 different levels....Gonna buy it on Bluray....Don't care it got low rating on IMDB.....

The movie was okay for the first 15 minutes, but after a while, it was starting to get really corny. This might be made for little kids, but still, i expected better performance and comedy for eddy murphy. rent this if you have to, don't buy, not even on blue ray.

An absolutely hilarious movie! My kids and I watch this movie over and over again and still laugh at it every time we watch it. It's Haunted Mansion, NOT Pirates! Love the Disneyland ride, love the movie!

This dismal production confused the heck out of me, because it's just absolutely awful in every way. I didn't think the movie could possibly be as bad as it turned out to be. By far, one of Eddie Murphy's worst films. Skip it.

I only wish that I did not have to go online to get the movie, But Best buy is not a movie superstore and at least they had it online and being a Elite Plus I got expedited shipping.
