The lady in this movie can sure drink! And as she bar hops around town with the decision to truly enter adulthood on her own terms without interference from her peers, she ends up attracting a parade of fellow bar hoppers in the process. Meanwhile her senpai who secretly admires her but is too shy to admit it unintentionally and painstakingly goes on his own personal growth journey as he tries to acquire a rare item to offer as a gift to his crush in the hopes that she'll reward him with a relationship. The idiot. But he learns though. Everyone learns in this movie and everyone also has a good heart even if some of the more cantankerous ones need a little reminder of how to perceive life thanks to the free spirit of our main female lead. And God is there a lot of drinking!

I haven't known anyone who has seen this movie without me introducing it to them, and that is an utter shame. Surreal and a little psychedelic, there aren't many other animated movies I can compare this one to, at least not ones that might count as contemporaries. Though not outright "experimental," it feels like "The Night is Short, Walk on Girl" harks to another age, with is idiosyncratic plot devices and simultaneously nebulous and tidy storytelling. Even without a dub available, this film should not be missed.

This movie is on-of-a-kind. It has a lot of humor, absurdity, but most importantly, truth. There is so much to enjoy, from thee animation to the intriguing story and life lessons. I would definitely recommend this to even non-anime fans!
