Synopsis

Trainspotting
Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor), a young man with few prospects and fewer ambitions, lives in economically depressed Edinburgh. Like most of his friends, Renton is a heroin addict who loves the drug's blissful nothingness; financing his habit also provides excitement and challenges that his life otherwise lacks. Renton's two best friends are also junkies: Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), a snappy dresser obsessed with James Bond, and Spud (Ewan Bremner), a guileless nerd who suggests Pee Wee Herman's debauched cousin. Renton and his pals also hang out with Begbie (Robert Carlyle), a borderline psychotic who loathes junkies even though he drinks like a fish. After one too many brushes with the law, Renton kicks heroin and moves to London, where he finds a job, a flat, and something close to peace of mind. However, Sick Boy, Begbie, and Spud all arrive at his doorstep on the trail of a big score, leading Renton back into drugs and crime. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Trainspotting is easily one of the best movies of the 90s. Telling the story of Mark Renton and his friends' attempts to quit heroin the story evolves into much more. Danny Boyle's direction is flawless and the soundtrack complements the vivid images, producing some extremely memorable sequences. Trainspotting should be on everyone's "To See" list.

"Trainspotting" is a dizzying, hypnotic masterpiece of cinema. Director Danny Boyle is able to captivate audiences while showing the characters doing despicable things. Incredible soundtrack and visually phenomenal. Next to "Sunshine", this is Boyle's best! Ewan McGregor is also amazing.

I seen this when it came out in the theatre. It's been a favorite of mine since then. Awesome cast and awesome writing. And the blu-ray transfer was pretty darn good. Usually when they transfer older movies to blu-ray, the quality suffers. Not this time.

My daughters found this movie to be a great anti drug movie with powerful impact. Others see it as a druggie movie glamorizing the drug life. It has very graphic and sometimes gross portrayals and would not recommend to anyone that is not really mature.

Living raw in the Scottish heroin scene. The movie tells the funny and sad parts of being addicted to heroin. It has an amazing cast and is extremely easy and fun to follow

What's not to love about this movie? Ewan McGregor is top-notch. The supporting cast - and the heroin - are also "addictive" to watch.
