||Posted .Great keyboard....its compact as in thin but dont let this keyboard fool you, the saying bigger is always better is not the case here. Yes it may be smaller then your desktop keyboard but its very thin almost paper thin, therefore fits right in your laptop bag or tablet case right along side your surface. It also can fit all your keyboard needs and wants. So you get the wonderful option of transforming your surface from a stellar tablet into a sleek sophisticated laptop, with the gurth of a desktop. Ladies and gentlemen it gets no greater then that. Only thing left now is for you to accessorize. We cant live without all the new techy gizmos and gadets now can we???

Very Good Keyboard
||Posted .1. The Surface 3 keyboard is fine for the two fingered typing I normally perform. 2. I am concerned regarding the material suede surface of the keyboard. It appears susceptible to wear and staining. A less absorbing material would have been preferred. 3. The key stroke is good with enough travel to be comfortable. 4. I miss the right and left mouse buttons usually available on a laptop for selecting multiple files. 5. Being lighted is great for low light working.

Excellent
||Posted .I recently upgraded from an ASUS T100 2-in-1 to the Surface 3. I waited for Christmas so my wife would have a gift for me in the Surface 3 Type keyboard - so I used the Surface 3 solely as a tablet from Thanksgiving until Christmas. I do a lot of writing and I'm a touch typist. I previously owned the Surface RT with the Touch keyboard accessory. That keyboard had a big impact on my typing speed and accuracy. The ASUS T100 keyboard was also less ideal, with a non-standard layout, and small, but at least mechanical keys. The Type keyboard is far better than either of those. Despite not being much thicker than the original Surface Type keyboard - the Surface 3 Type keyboard has mechanical keys with surprisingly satisfying play and feedback. Despite being somewhat cramped, my typing speed is nearly full speed and I make very few errors. In addition, the function keys allow you to control the brightness of the backlit keys - which are a really nice touch for a keyboard this thin and small. Honestly, I very rarely use the keyboard in a low light condition. I keep the light turned off to conserve battery life on the Surface - but if you're in low light, like a plane cabin, a feature like this is indispensable. Other keys allow you to control media, turning volume up or down or hitting pause or play, even with the device locked. Finally, the entire keyboard doubles as a very thin case protecting the screen from scratches or cracks. People complain about the steep price of this keyboard compared to the price of the Surface 3 - and I agree, it is expensive. But it delivers a lot of value for that extra money. Occasionally my Surface won't see the keyboard. Disconnecting it and snapping it back in fixes that. The keyboard is magnetic, and snaps right into the socket, just like in the old commercials - but the magnet also allows you to fold the keyboard up to put the keys at a slight incline/angle, instead of laying flat. This is a huge improvement over the original design. Along with the kickstand on the Surface, I have little problem typing with the device on my laptop or while in bed. A lot of people will complain about this - but it seems as easy to use in this situation as any traditional laptop, to me. Microsoft really nailed the Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 and their accessories.

Perfect addition.
||Posted .At first I didn't want the keyboard with my Surface 3. It took me a few weeks of using it to decide that things would be just a little easier if I could type normally in windows. I also had an issue finding a good flip case that would fit the Surface 3 without the keyboard. I finally found a good case and realized it had enough room for the keyboard as well. The sales person at Best Buy allowed me to open the box and attach the keyboard so i could get the feel of it with my case. I can tell you that not only did the case fit better but the keyboard adds so much functionality to the Surface that my next laptop purchase will not be a laptop at all. I will buy the Surface Pro 4, or what ever they are selling by then with the keyboard and pen. This keyboard has turned a 10" tablet into a 10" mini laptop. The track pad is not so great because it clicks as soon as I touch it. But I have big fingers and nerve damage so I may be pushing a little harder than I should. I use the keyboard and then reach up and touch the screen for what I would use the track pad for. Best of both worlds. I recommend trying one at the store and then deciding. Don't forget the track pad doesn't even need to be used, you can just touch the screen.

Exactly what it says it is
||Posted .This is a full QWERTY keyboard (no number pad) for a Surface 3 - NOT THE PRO3! This fits exactly the dimensions of the new Surface 3, and does not add significantly to the bulk. The keyboard attaches to the Surface magnetically - and I was a little surprised just how strong that magnetic catch was when I first received it. I jumped (just a little) when it clicked into place. It is quite easy to removed, but it will not fall off. Removal is a deliberate action. If you want/have the pen (separate purchase), be aware that there is no where on the tablet or the keyboard to attach it. The pen comes with a loop that has adhesive you can attach to the Surface or this keyboard if you wish. I actually attached my pen loop to the 'fuzzy' side of the keyboard, and it has (so far) adhered quite well. This does NOT have any thing to hold it closed as a cover. The keyboard stays attached, but it will not latch or otherwise lock into place as a type of protective cover to the screen of the Surface. Not a problem for me, but I was hazy on that action until I saw it. ONLY down side (not worth downrating) typing is not noiseless. I use this in class to take notes, and the sound of typing is somewhat distinctive. Not completely unexpected, but it's worth noting.

Must have add to the Surface 3
||Posted .I bought this for my son's Surface 3, definitely a great accessory that makes the Surface more useful. While the touchpad is not as big as the Pro 4's, it is very usable and well designed. My son uses the touch screen only occasionally because of the usability of the touchpad. He also loves the fact you can adjust the LED backlight level. Keep in mind also, it can serve in a pinch for your other Surface devices, I use it interchangeably with my Pro 4. Though different sizes, it works well. On thing to keep in mind- other side of the keyboard is almost "felt like", not a super durable material that will hold up to rubbing against hard stuff repeatedly (ie. my son has it shoved in with other stuff in heavy backpack). The age is already starting to show wear (shiny/discolored corners) after just a couple of weeks of use in school and some trips in the backpack.

KeyBoard Is A NECESSITY
||Posted .Makes the tablet into a computer... I love the darker colors because lighter colors tend to get dirty from constant use. Darker colors do not show the dirt or wear and tear. I also like that there are choices in colors. ONE IMPORTANT THING... THE SAMPLE IN THE STORE HAS A LOOP ATTACHED TO PUT UR STYLUS IN... THIS DOES NOT COME WITH THE KEYBOARD... IT COMES WITH THE STYLUS, BUT NOT WITH ALL THE STYLUSES... ONLY WITH THE COLORED STYLUS. The salesmen on the floor DON'T KNOW THIS... but that little loop attached to the keyboard, keeps u from losing your stylus.

Q: QuestionIs it really wireless? This is the first time I have seen wireless connectivity advertised as a feature of any Microsoft Surface series touch or type cover. (1) Does the cover actually connect wirelessly to the Surface 3, and if so, what is its battery life? (2) Is the cover compatible with other Surface tablets? (3) Does the keyboard use Bluetooth for connectivity, and will it work with other devices in the windows, Android, iOS, Mac, and Linux worlds?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer 1 - No. The cover connects physically. 2 - No. The cover fits only the Surface 3 tablets. 3 - No. The cover connects physically (same as question 1). Yes, you can play android programs with Bluestack App.

Q: Questiontype cover keyboardI currently have the surface pro. I'm going to buy the surface 3. Is the keyboard interchangeable on these 2 devices. It appears so based on the pictures.
Asked by Rich.
- A:Answer I purchased the keyboard for the Suface 3 and it works perfectly on my Surface Pro. I believe my Surface Pro type keyboard would work with the Surface 3, but I would suggest getting the Surface 3 keyboard instead. Much better tactile feel and touchpad is much better. Also, it will fit properly while the keyboard for the Surface will not full cover the screen of the Surface 3
