Synopsis

Unbreakable
Actor Bruce Willis and writer/director M. Night Shyamalan reunite after the surprise success of The Sixth Sense for this supernatural thriller. David Dunne (Willis) is taking a train from New York City back home to Philadelphia after a job interview that didn't go well when his car jumps the tracks and collides with an oncoming engine, with David the only survivor among the 131 passengers on board. Astoundingly, David is not only alive, he hardly seems to have been touched. As David wonders what has happened to him and why he was able to walk away, he encounters a mysterious stranger, Elijah Prince (Samuel L. Jackson), who explains to David that there are a certain number of people who are "unbreakable" -- they have remarkable endurance and courage, a predisposition toward dangerous behavior, and feel invincible but also have strange premonitions of terrible events. Is David "unbreakable"? And if he is, what are the physical and psychological ramifications of this knowledge? Unbreakable also stars Robin Wright-Penn as Audrey, David's wife; the supporting cast includes Spencer Treat Clark and Joey Perillo. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

    Perhaps my Favorite Shyamalan Film!

First things first: I never even heard of this movie until Split came out. It actually helps to watch this first, whether you know the ending to that film or not. This is simply a great standalone film, even though its pacing is a bit pokey. However, this is mostly development for some great characters, and a great story as well! Willis, Jackson, Wright, and Treat Clark are terrific! Add in beautiful cinematography and an outstanding score by James Newton Howard, and you've got a great film! Just don't expect a sensational, mind-blowing "twist" like The Sixth Sense, and you should be fine.

My wife and I are huge M. Night Shyamalan fans, we have all of his films. When it comes to him and his movies, you're either a fan or you're not. Many people just don't understand him. This is one of his best movies. It's right up there with Signs and Sixth Sense. Just like those films, this one has a great twist at the end. Plus, who doesn't like seeing Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis together again? This film was great, it's a real life take on super heroes. If you don't like him or understand him, then you probably won't like this movie. But, if you're a fan, as we are, then you'll love and appreciate this film. I highly recommend it! Also, some of his more recently underappreciated movies that I recommend are Lady in the Water and The Happening.

Unbreakable is about David Dunne who is the only survivor of a major train crash and not only does he survive but he suffers no injuries. Then he is contacted by a man who has been injured his whole life named Elijah. Elijah convinces David that he was the only survivor in the train crash as well as a hotel fire and a plane crash and that he has special powers. It turns out he does have special abilities but Elijah was the one behind each of the 3 major disasters. I thought this movie was pretty good up until the end. It feels like the end is missing something. If it wasn't for the ending this is a good movie.

    One of M. Nights best

This blu-ray does unbreakable justice. It has great picture and audio quality and has all of the special features that came with the 2 disc DVD in 2004. This movie is one of M. Nights best, in my opinion. It seems like he had 2 or 3 good ones, and then some straight awful ones. I greatly enjoyed this movie as it made it seem possible, if not realistic to have a real life super hero and super villain. I would highly recommend picking this one up.

Alot of people didn't give this movie a chance, but if you seat down and watch it, its actually pretty good. I like the whole comic book feel, that a normal man, who isnt all that normal, discover that he has the power to read people by touch. Teaming Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson up again was just brilliant, they have good chemistry together

The classic suspense drama about the emergence of superheroes and villains still holds up great 20 years later. Catch the follow-up to this, 'Split'.

I am a big M. Night Shyamalan fan, and think this is one of his best films. It hold you until the end, and like usual, has a cool twist to it. The dvd also has a lot of interesting extras to look into. I highly recommend it.

I know this movie isn't for everyone but I think it's great. Even better when watching Split right after. A play on real life superheroes and villians.
