Overall, I am happy with this purchase. 100 discs for a little over thirty dollars? Forget about it.
I bought this particular brand on recommendation from nearly every person I asked, and after many disappointing experiences with other brands. (Memorex, etc...), I was willing to try them.
So I sat down, opened up iDVD, and prepped the product for use.
When I inserted the disc and went on to doing other things, the disc almost immediately popped out of the machine. Curious and surprised, I reopened iDVD to see the "Please insert the disc.." message again. A wave of familiar disappointment come over me. I thought I'd just wasted another thirty dollars on a set of coasters. Not willing to accept defeat just yet, I pushed the disc back in and waited another few seconds... only to have the disc pop out again. At this point, I was a little angry, and was ready to give up on this so heavily recommended brand. In a moment of insanity, I decided to humor the disc yet again. I pushed it back in and, lo and behold, it finally worked!
It's been a similar experience with every disc I've tried so far, but none have failed me. Three seems to be the magic number of tries. I suspect it's a hardware issue rather than an issue with the discs.
All of the reviews on this product seem to tell the same story. "I bought fifty and only two worked. Blah, blah, blah." What I wonder is if they put it in once, it popped out, and they immediately threw it in the garbage. I recommend trying it a few times before throwing in the towel.

Best Media, Hands Down!

After dealing with 2 other brands changing their media types and being stuck with 200 useless discs, i decided to switch over to Verbatim after reading so many stellar reviews. WOW! I guess everyone is right on the money here. You might pay a little more for these, but honestly you get what you pay for. 100% success on my Plextor PX-716 burner. I've burned about 180 of these so far with absolutely no problems. You really can't go wrong with these!

Verbatim is the only brand that I've found that doesn't produce coasters. Maybe one out of 20 will have issues, and usually it has something to do with the software, not the disc itself.

I've done a ton of research into blank media quality online as well as 2 years of burning various brands of discs. I also scan every burn for errors, and there's really no contest. Verbatim and Taiyo-Yuden are tops in consistent high quality, with Sony a close second place. TDK, Maxell, Memorex and the others buy their discs from various manufacturers, and their quality varies as a result. Verbatim uses only Mitsubishi discs, and Taiyo-Yuden and Sony make their own. You know what you're getting when you buy these. Buy the good stuff, you won't regret it.

A Wise Purchase

I was a little worried about trying out Verbatim brand of media. I usually stick with TDK all the way and Memorex when I can't get TDK. These Verbatim DVD-Rs are certified for 16x, I've got an LG 20X DVD Writer and with these discs burn at 20x by default.
NO coasters yet with this media in my LG DVD Writer, I must say that these DVD-Rs are excellent. Will have to purchase some more when then go on sale, so now I'll be getting either Verbatim or TDK, can't go wrong with either really.
Don't think, just purchase this wonderful working media.

50 DVD-R discs, 0 coasters

Verbatim discs are known for being high quality discs, so it's no surprise that I made it through my entire spindle of 50 DVD-R discs without any failed burns. With so many cheap brands of discs out there, it's nice to know that I can always fall back on Verbatim's when I need to guarantee a good burn. And what a fabulus purple underside. Very nice.
Of course, with the quality comes a little bit of a premium in price. While not typically absurdly expensive, they generally cost a bit more than the average Memorex or Dynex disc.

I've bought at least 3 50-packs of these and they've all burned flawlessly and still play without a hitch after the 2+ years I've had them. While I've long heard that Taiyo Yuden are the best type of discs, Verbatim are up there too. And I'm happy with them both. The price is usually good too, Best Buy has a great weekly sale on these every so often.
In case anyone is wondering, I used an NEC 3520AW DVD-RW to burn these discs.
