A: Unlocked phone are usually GSM, an therefore can't be used on Verizon or sprint networks which are CDMA. You would have use ATT prepaid, T-Mobile or H2O.

A: The difference is the amount of data you receive. I just did a little checking because I too was confused. The $35 card gives you 1G of data and that is WAY MORE than I could ever use in a month. If you just use your phone to call/text and check email all you need is the $35 card going forward. Unfortunately this is the cheapest card offered through Sprint. When I ordered my Sprint phone the $10 Up Card popped up suggesting I should order that too. What I didn't realize is this is just a data upgrade; now I have to purchase the $35 card to actually use the phone. Very confusing. There are other carriers out their offering what you need. Sprint may not be the best choice but now you're stuck because you have their phone (unless it's an Unlocked Phone (and I doubt it). Unlocked means the phone is specific to Sprint.
